You said it no nicely what we were talking yesterday about Indira n her emotion, pain
mmm, i will try to explain in a different way since i know once i get a thought i write but even my words felt a little vague to me. remember, i tried projecting the cartoon scene through a devil's advocate voice...meaning when i watch HD i try to process what has happened with my own opinion and then the opposite thought. thus i point i had presented was the one that was in minority since we would have all agreed on the majority feeling. anyway, essentially HD is a show that makes me wonder "why?" thus, i tried stating how even cartooning, how childlike it may seem, is also a very impactful thing. by creating satires, history has been made & so even if rishi's comic strip was cutesie and minute, it still had a monumental effect. if you notice, he did not alter any of indira's actions, she did throw out rishi even though he barred his pain from his childhood, she kicked him out and told him never to return even though he said that she is his shelter ... with her his life has meaning. in the cartoon strip he simplifies it by essentially depicting him saying his happiness and life is with her (via the heart) and she stood firm with arms closed. i think the last image was of his sorry ..an open ended situation. if he depicted a truth, a reality, how is he mocking her? the viewer will take their own message. as a female, i felt like it would hurt to have your anger, pain, and shortcomings (because temper is one) being displayed in front of you ...unclothed. even in her office, she snaps at her secretary and basically takes away everyone's newspaper but that will not make the situation go away. why should the concept of reality be bent because she is someone we all worry and care for? that is a "why" which popped up in our minds, and my only answer is because our connection with her stems from the commonality of being females, while we have been given more scenes and POV of indira's in order to bond with her. thus, we will be biased because indira has become one of our own.
but here is where i will share my personal reaction, when i saw that cartoon...i found it a cute attempt. but i happen to be slightly serious & i need to keep an open mind when someone refers me in a joke. im not senti but i can't help but get annoyed at certain jokes that most people take lightly. thus, if i was indira i would be chir chiri and annoyed. i would lash out and retort, especially because it was so public. rishi probably didn't factor how she prefers her personal life to stay very very personal, and someone with her notoriety having info leak would be wildfire news in purani delhi. once again, he just didnt think of some consequences.
anyway, about him breaking the hitlerdidi image through the cartoon ... i figure it is like you have to break down barriers and one image to create a new one. when i saw him keep her in that avatar for the cartoon strip, it hit me that he realizes her reaction towards him was in that costume but not as the real person wearing it. she is protecting herself but like superman, he too one day wants be a sense of safety and protection. you know? in a sense he mocked himself too, because he is no superman especially in the eyes of his parents.
before i get too long, this cartoon has sparked a general question which has always been running in my mind: would people avoid taking punga with indira if she didnt represent authority? should she shed her image to have a happier life?
