Translating Harry Potter

The Guardian today writes about the obstacles faced by Harry Potter translators such as the invented words, prophecies, rhymes, and general wordplay. The article also notes translators come under pressure in countries where the quality of second-language English is high, causing many to buy the original versions instead.

I read a page of it in hindi, the 1st book, Harry Potter aur Pares Pattar😃

😆 lol, i'd love to read harry potter in urdu or hindi, i'd love to see how they describe snape and umbridge in a different language, wot would mean toad face in urdu??? 😕

hey niyu, i am gona give a proposal for translating HP into sanskrit... lets try to bring in nams (our other friend in scul for the rest of u) into this too.. shell b heartbroken if v dont, being the scholar in sansk she is!!!!
