Hi all,
I FINALLY saw GOF after a month of waiting, but I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed with it!
Now, my disappointment did not stem from either of these things:
- The fact that parts were cut out (I know its not possible to get much detail in a 2.5 hr movie.)
- The deviations such as Barty Crouch Jr being shown from the beginning itself, etc (I dont mind deviations as long as they are integrated well enough)
But, I WAS disappointed by MIKE NEWELL'S Direction and the editing of the movie.
The scene switching was far too abrupt and the movie in itself lost the story somewhere in a barrage of special effects. People who had not read the books barely understood what was happening!
And what was with everyone's dialogue delivery? The actors were not even clear when they spoke their lines! 😕 And everyone was pushing and shoving each other for no reason!
The Post Yule-Ball Ron/Hermione scene was HORRIBLY shot! Where is the shock, the bewilderment on Ron's face as Hermione yells out that he should have asked her out 1st? This was a huge downer for me because it was one of my favourite scenes in the series!
The only powerful scene was the Graveyard scene where Voldemort is resurrected and Cedric's death scene.
Emma Watson was superb! Kudos to that girl; she will go far! 👏
Dan Radcliffe held up his end pretty well even with shoddy editing and direction.
Rupert Grint was wasted in this movie! We have seen better examples of his talent in the other 3 movies.
The other three Champions - Robert, Clemence, Stanislav - could not be judged as they barely had a role to play.
Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman were good as usual.
Michael Gambon --- the less said about his acting, the better. 🤢
I dont know if anyone else agrees with me, but I feel that the Harry Potter movies are slowly losing their charm and the power to move the audience with acting.
I know that many people think the 4th movie is better than the 1st one, but I feel that even though it lacked in special effects, a buffer Dan Radcliffe and Cedric Diggory 😛, it had a magic which GOF is devoid of.
I saw The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe today and it honestly is better than GOF! People should check it out. The storyline, effects and acting were just superb!
Please dont be offended as this is just my opinion.
I am a HUGE fan of HP, as you all know, but I was very very disappointed with this movie.
