Harry Potter Best Proposal Fanfiction Contest!

You will have to write a fanfiction in which one character is proposing marriage to another character – either party can propose, male or female. The aim of this contest is to choose out the "best proposal" scene.

Rules and Tips:

Your fanfiction must have MORE than 900 and less than 3000 words. It can fall anywhere between that category – we want to make sure that we have substantial fanfictions, but we also don't want to put our members (who are judging) through reading very, very long fanfics.

You must have a disclaimer. Disclaimers are those notes at the beginnings of chapters saying that you do not own Harry Potter or the characters.

You may use any ship you please (Ron/Hermione, Harry/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Lily/James etc) EXCEPT male/male or female/female pairings.

We will have different categories for each ship. When voting time comes, each member will vote for one fanfiction in each category.

Themes such as rape, bestiality and incest will NOT be tolerated – the fanfiction will be declined and NOT put up for judging.

Ratings between G and PG-13 ONLY – meaning explicit language/extreme sexual detail will NOT be tolerated and immediately declined.

Anyone can participate, including mods/viewbies. No favoritism will be shown because members will judge.

The maximum number of fanfics you can send are two (2) and the deadline is Feb 13th, 2006.

Please recheck for spelling/grammatical errors – the members WILL be on the lookout for such errors.

Be creative! Add figurative language such as similes, metaphors, hyperboles, ect. They make your fanfiction stand out.

PM your fanfiction(s) to either me, PixieDust91, or *Rashmi*. You may NOT post your fanfiction. DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRY HERE! WE WILL NOT TAKE IT IF YOU HAVE.

If PixieDust91 or *Rashmi* find any fanfics inappropriate, we will contact the respective author to discuss his/her options. This does not include fanfictions submitted with male/male, female/female pairings or with themes such as rape, bestiality, incest or fanfictions that contain explicit language/extreme sexual detail – such fanfictions will be IMMEDIATELY rejected. If your fanfiction has been previously rejected you MAY submit it again ONLY if you have made the changes required – PixieDust91 and *Rashmi* will review these fanfictions again to make sure they suit our guidelines.

After all fanfictions have been submitted, PixieDust91 and *Rashmi* will put it up for judging. Each fanfiction will be assigned a NUMBER, and that will be your identity as the author of the fanfiction. ANY MEMBER THAT DISCLOSES WHICH IS HIS/HER FANFICTION WILL IMMEDIATELY HAVE HIS/HER FANFICTION IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED.

The winners of the Fanfiction Contest be awarded a glitter signature as a prize.

Remember, this fanfiction contest has been created in an attempt to boost participation in the Harry Potter section, so PLEASE send in fanfictions. Even if you don't write fanfictions, this will be the best place to start – where else other than IF-HP? So send in your entries, please, please, please!
