i have a lame doubtšŸ˜›. why the title says' hare kaanch ki choodiyan'? isn't red the color of married women? or are green bangles important too?

Green is as auspicious color as red for married women. It just depends what part of India you are from. For Maharashtrians, green colored glass bangles are considered very auspicious.

My take on the green bangle theme is that green is a beautiful color in life...I mean greener pasteurs, green grass....when I look on the brighter side of things, I often see the sun shining on vibrant green hills. šŸ˜›

hehehe JP....

Well, in most northern parts of India - UP, MP, Bihar, Rajasthan ( not the Rajputs) .....the brides wear a plain yellow saree, without border and green bangles during the actuall marriage ceremony where the groom puts the sindoor and not the red saree or ghaghra as has been showed in the movies or serials....the chuda that has been romanticised by the tele industry or the red bangles by the film industry is actually is limited to a few parts of India-namely Punjab, haryana and few parts of Northern India. The ghagras and the elaborate jewellery worn during the garland ceremony is more cosmetic than tradition.A newly wed Hindu UP bride adorns her arms with green bangles......the sign of marriage. Now of course it's changing.Hence the name,Hare Kaanch ki Chudian.

In North specially in my cast (kayastha) a girl wears haray kaanch ke churiyan till the actual marriage ceremony....Once groom puts the sindor, then the girl is considered married and change into red sari and red churiyan too.
