I think it is not about age but more about perception. I think Ishana is suffering from syndrome of plenty😆. That is . she has got everything in life before she could ask for it, so much so that she doesn't know the importance of relationships which has made her think about only "I", "Me" and "Myself". She doesn't even care for her mothers feelings and concerns. If she really loved Nikhil for 10 years ( seems impractical at the age of 12 OMG 😕) then she should be the first person to know what Nikhil is going thru and trust him. But she does the opposite, she stakes claim on him and fakes love😡. She is immature and gets provoked by Barkha and super scheming Nani🤢 and is all out in arms to ward off Laajo, even though it may mean hurting Nikhil. All this is because she is insulated from the realities of life and too selfish to care for anybody's feelings. In the show if you guys have observed all her dialogues either begin with "Mera", Main, tera , tumhara" etc. Whereas Laajo's always has " Humra, hum" etc. that tells us the whole world of difference between Laajo and Ishana.😉
