I think its unfair to say that Sai has no passion for her career just because she is concerned about the puja at home. She obviously doesn't want to deliberately let down bk gang for something being conducted in her honor. Function was for her , not generic. And with jer changed dynamics with them, she doesn't want to be perceived as callous n uncaring by them. They are important to V n so they are important to her. She has accepted them as family now with all their crap coz koi option nahi. She has waited for V to tell the truth because he thinks BK needed time etc etc...so she does not wanna ruin his plan by pissing her off before the big reveal....so i found Sai's behavior normal today. Should she have asked for time off on day 1- probably NOT. If i were her boss I'd think shes slacking on day 1 too...but then again her circumstances suck. At least she was shown hesitating to ask for a favor and knowing its uncool for her to request favors on day 1.
In real life this happens. People are stressing over their personal life in the middle of their work too.
Personally, I had to do a virtual house hunt in between work hours and rounds because by the time I got home all the offices would be closed. So I'd be doing that in the middle of rounds ... people can multitask.
The reason her entire focus isnt on her work on day 1 is because thanks to V, people dont know shes at work. Nobody would be comfortable lying about such a major thing. If Sai had gone to work even agaibst bk wishes but after full disclosure she'd not have the pressures that she has now. She feels obligated to be in puja thats being done for her, for her happy marriage and because its the event that is going to precede the big reveal of the truth by V. But ultimately we know she's late because her work obviously comes first.
And in the past they showed her "pretend" to take her career/exams lightly just to evoke a reaction from V because she knew he cared about her career too. So its not fair to say she doesn't care. I didn't see it as making a joke at the expense of career. She was only getting a reaction and it worked. It is that which got him both to melt n have his outburst and thereafter open his mind to see what Sai was saying, doing.
In this show, drana quotient is high so we never get to see the realistic potrayal of Sai or V in terms of their demanding careers. That has always been left for us to assume. They have shown Sai top exams despite never studying. They have shown V being a celebrated officer n DIG ka laadla though he spends more time off work than at work.
The interaction of Sai-Thurat is very exaggerated. Nobody can interact with such hate n attitude on day 1 in a professional environment. But they are taking itv liberty on it to drive home that thurat is mean.
And its not so easy to just quit internship, take a sabbatical n come back. If Sai were to try that, all doors of re-entry would be closed. Its a very competitive and tough job . And after everything, it'd be extremely hard for her to go back to it .
Students that take a break before doing PG really struggle a lot and its not so easy to crack exams and thereafter get back into work too.
