It could be that since virat and samrat have jobs which require them to not stay at home 24/7 they might not know of what goes on in the house..

Coming to the way ninad treats his wife, I think virat has grown up seeing that and his mother has probably never raised her voice and told him to let it go.. only now when sai is there she wants to stand up for her because she does not want history repeating itself..

a lot of times children look at their parents mistakes and learn from them, there are some who don't but that is different.

All three Mohit, samrat and virat have learnt want not to do as adults looking at their parents and elders in the house..

yep yep, he knows what his father does is disgusting but he has grown up like that and learnt to brush things under the carpet like most of them.. Sai on the other hand has been taught to give an eye for an eye, so she doesn't sit quietly when something wrong is happening, she raises her voice..

Virat's so called 'dil ke ache' family elders excluding Ashwini Aayi are the worst!

Virat has proven he's one of them on a good number of occasions. So no wonder he considers those family members as 'dil ke ache'. 😆

Ashwini his wife is treated like trash by him. He had no concern when his sister Shivani was being classed characterless and was more concerned about "log kya kahenge", he ill treats Devi also. Sai ke khilaaf aaj tak sirf kadve bol bole hai but now in precap he has raised a hand against a young woman in anger. And this man is supposed to be an ex ARMY officer?! He told virat in initial episodes some senti BS about how he took early retirement because he was not able to save his teammate and he was guilty and he was the one that kept giving advice about farz comes first etc etc. But he has completely forgotten that Sai's father- a policeman took a bullet for his son! How does an ex army officer who is supposedly still feeling guilty about his actions/carelessness on duty so easily forget the fact that someone took a bullet to save your sons life?!

He is coming across as someone that has no sense of right/wrong and a downright horrible person.

I don't believe that BS too. The other officer took the bullet for him and he returned the favour by doing what? early retirement? Shouldn't he have served the army so he could honour the sacrifice? The other officer saved his life for what, so he could sit at home and abuse his wife, niece and daughter in law?

In a way he has emotionally abused Virat also. Several people on forum have analysed that Virat's behaviour is because of the environment of the house. And also, the day they were going for Sai's admission and Ninad said that Virat used to be his cause of pride but now he is the cause of his shame, I still can't get over how hurt Virat had felt.

As cruel as it sounds Ninad has never even loved Virat also, he just sees Virat as someone who is obliged to keep him. The whole Chavan Niwas in fact. Even if Sai were to leave the house forever and never return and even if Virat did anything and everything they asked him to, they will never be happy, even though they claim to. Because it is not possible to keep someone happy. People are themselves responsible for their happiness. Sai was happy with candy floss and balloons because she herself determined it that candy floss would make her happy. Similarly everyone themselves sets their path to happiness. A person can be happy even when he has nothing and they can be unhappy even when they have everything.

My heart broke when Ninad said that Virat used to be his pride but he is not anymore. When Virat asked what he has done wrong, he was desperately hoping that Ninad would recognize his efforts but Ninad did not. If Ninad loved him, it would have given Virat the strength to work even her harder. But Ninad made him weaker than ever before.
