They don't want the women of the family to be independent or have their own money as they won't be able to control them like Shivani.

So even though kaku gave pretend okay for her to do the job, Pakhi's intention was not to do an actual job but just show that she can also get the niyam changed for her.

If she goes to work outside, she will still have to do household work, so she is not going to work.
