Does a family have to have a son?

i didn't get this stupid thought of stupid people.how stupid they r if their wife doesn't give birth to a son . they will get married again . come on it is not in her hand to give birth to a son.KKLB just started in Canada and i cried so much over it. and i know family who has daughters and they r very happy and some family has sons who r never out of problems. so now u guys tell me wat u guys think.

i also totally agree with u. I feel relly very lucky that my parents dont show the differnces bet a girl and a boy as i don hve any brothers. I'm proud that we are girls.

yeah we r right u no if i was his wife i would burn the whole house i can't tolerate anything like this and those liitle girls who didn't get their father's just beacuse they r girls. i really feel sorry for theseclosed minded ppl who has a box around their head and can't think more than that and yeah i am the only girl in my family and i no wat is like if u don't get ur father luv watver the excuse is it is really hard but my dad n my family luvs me alot

As 4 my family I dont know how it feels!!! It is me n my sister both girls!!! We r loved by our dad n mom!!! They never said y didnt we have a boy!!! We r 2 of 3 girls in my dads side!!! My elder cuz is my daddys sis's daugher, she has a bro!!! Then is my fathers brother who has all boys, but they wish their was a girl!!! Last is my papa who has the love of his 2 little girls, no boys!!! BTW girls r loved the most with us!!!

Hey ...Let me tell u that I've seen so many open mouthed faces(specially girls) when I told that we r all sisters....I donno why they feel surprised or bad abt it.

I'm a long time lurker on India Forums. After watching the first three episodes of Betiyan, I couldn't help myself from posting. I started bawling like a baby after watching today's episode. 😭
I couldn't agree more with the comments in this thread.

I just do not understand the people who treat girls like a second class citizen. It's baffling.
I want to share my personal experience regarding this issue. I have, of course, heard stories about how it was the norm years and years ago... but the sad thing is that it still happens in this day and age. Maybe not as extreme as demonstrated in this show, but it does happen. My brother is my parents' first born. I am the second oldest child -- a girl. I have 2 younger sisters. My parents tell me that when my sisters were born, some of our relatives actually scoffed at that! They mocked my parents and snickered as if having three girls was a curse. My parents have always treated my sisters and I like princesses. They are the most loving and caring parents anyone could ever ask for. Anyway, I realize I am digressing here, but I just wanted to mention that there are *STILL* people in this world world who look down upon girls and prefer boys over them.

Another negative story from my family...
I know a family here who has all girls. After the birth of their last three girls, they actually sobbed and mourned. It was unbelievable. 😕

Anyway, I just wanted to voice my disgust and bewilderment at such behavior even in the 21st century. This seems like a great show. It touched my heart for sure. I'll be tuning in everyday.

On a different note, I wish we weren't a few weeks behind India. I would LOVE to discuss this show here with you wonderful folks, but alas, we aren't up to date with a lot of you. :(
