I agree with you actually. She is not 100% at fault though deception is deception. But yes, Suryakant and Baa both had a BIG role to play in whatever happend to Jhumki/Jhanvi and they even accept that and feel guilty. Both of them do tell Meneka that if they had not craved for a son Janvi would not have been where she ended up being.
As for the craving and partiality for sons, it exists all over the world in different sections of society. Of course things are improving all over the world in educated families but still a way to go.
BTW - I have heard that in India, Bangalore girl babies are MUCH more in demand for adoption. Waiting list for a girl baby is 6 months, boy baby is 4 weeks! So, that's some progress at least in the educated sections of society.
