She rolled her eyes not daring to turn her head, being from a middle class family all this was new to her. The luxury and the posh environment were far away from her mind which she got to see ever since he filled her maang ... that mangalsutr only had diamonds, she wondered how she would adjust to the new atmosphere around. Ever since her marriage was fixed with Maan ... not even once did he speak to her, it was really annoying but Geet was not like other girls who would only dream and fantasize of life partner.
Though she was sitting on the bed waiting for her husband to come, she herself didn't know if she was prepared for physical relationship. Hours passed there on but there was no hint of his presence, and then she passed on the bed as the sleep overtook her eyes.
He opened the door and found her sleeping, Maan wanted to speak to his wife and tell about his urgent tour to London on business purpose. But the inner guilt was eating him so much, he had no courage to say anything to her, he was a man of few words and this was something beyond his capability. He simply packed his luggage and stared at Geet who seemed so beautiful. He covered her with the quilt and left not wanting to wake her and depress her.
Mama this is so good I love you ... Geet kissed her mother's cheek and proceeded towards her room to check her dress for the marriage function of her friend ... She placed the dress on her body and was making faces, Rano almost laughed at her daughter seeing her behave like a girl for the first time. That was the way she brought her up ... Geet always had been career oriented and now she could manage getting a good job in public sector. Her parents were proud of her success ... she achieved so much in such tender age, right when she finished her engineering.
She was still busy looking at the image in the mirror of herself when Rano placed duppatta on her head and said ... bete I was thinking ki aap kaise lagti dulhan jaise
Mama please stop it ... abhi toh mujhe job karna hai, aapke saath ... papa ke saath aur time bitana hai uske baad hi sab
Rano couldn't speak, Geet will not understand if she tries to tell her ... the only way was to wait for her husband. He will explain about the alliance that was fixed with a rich family.
The next morning Geet woke up to find herself still in the same heavy dress, she was still the bride ... not touched, not loved. She sat back to see the room like the way it was when she came inside, that meant Maan didn't come!! She sighed and went into the bathroom to freshen up.
Papa aapko chodke itni jaldi mujhe kahi nahi jaana ... I am not getting married this soon, and you are forgetting, I got a job ... Mujhe kaam karna hai shaadi nahi, Geet adamantly spoke not wanting to put up an argument with her father for she knew she will never win. Her father gives reasons and makes her agree to what he asks for.
She was about to walk away when mohinder held her hand and said ... bete humne thode din pehle baat kiya tha ki aapko job milega toh hum shaadi jaldi kardenge?? I told you if the alliance is a good one then I wont wait long ... you said yes!! You cant say a no now Geet, it means you don't trust me!!
This was what she was worried about, the emotional blackmail which had trapped her. She had no answer to his genuine argument. She was left with no option than agreeing,
Babaji kaha phasaa diya mujhe?? Ab main kya karon?? Mujhe job bhi karna hai ... Pata nahi main kar paongi bhi nahi,she looked up to find her god who was probably smiling at Geet's plight as he gave her a better life than she could chose herself by doing a job!!
As she stepped out ... She saw the servants busy with work. It was a habit for Geet to do everything on her own and here it was different ... there were more number of servants than the family members. She remembered about the rasam her mother told her, she will have to make a sweet dish on the first day in her in-laws house. But where was Maan?? She got down and went into the kitchen where nakul got panicked finding the new bride there ... Mam why are you here?? You need something?? Ill give you, aap yaha se jao warna dadima naraz ho jayengi
Geet was about to say something when dadima interfered to talk ... Arey bete aap uth gayi?? Thoda aur so jaati na, she caressed her face lovingly and called her daughter-in-law ... Pammi yaha aana, aapki bahu ki subah ho gayi
Dadima woh Maan kaha hai?? I didn't see him since last night?? She innocently asked only to notice a disappointment in her face ... her face lost colors making out that Maan didn't even inform his wife before leaving.
Sighing she decided to tell about how workaholic was her grandson ... He is not here bete, woh kal raat London chale gaye ... kuch kaam tha unko, he will come back after two months!!
Geet didn't know if she could this ignorance of him to leave her like that and go away, but then she wanted space too!! She wanted time to accept the truth, she wanted to accept that she was married in a week's time. Geet didn't even had her husband's phone number, so it was Maan's responsibility to call and talk to her. Her little ego went high, but the other side of her did understand his dedication to work and she was proud of him and his achievements. She knew Maan very well stands for his responsibilities, she couldn't forget the way he had actually taken care of everything financially. He seemed to have a connection with her parents too but it was just her with whom he didn't even speak for once.
Mama aapko kya hogaya?? Papa ka FD tod rahe ho?? Aise mat karo ... meri shaadi ke liye itna kharcha kyun kar rahe ho tum dono?? Geet's eyes went teary seeing the amount of shopping they did for her. The jewellery and the gifts for Maan's family, they were beyond their level of expenditure. She saw the guests arriving after sometime ... Geet's heart began to pace badly. Something she was not liking, she called her friend getting scared.
Meera: baby tension kyun leti hai?? Just talk to Maan, explain him that your family cant meet upto their class ... woh samjhega baby, she was still speaking on phone when the door bell rang ... Her eyes followed to look who has come and then few people walked inside with gift boxes. Then a person with spectacles giggled looking at rano ... Mam Maan sir has sent these jewellary and gifts, unhone kaha hai ki shaadi ki saara kharcha wahi uthayenge!! Yeh lijiye Maan sir se baat karlijiye ek baar, saying he handed the phone,
Rano panicked for a moment and she heard Maan speaking ... Maa please don't spend even a single penny from your side, I will take care of everything ... Aap bhi mere mom dad jaise ho!! She got chocked with happiness and then explained what Maan told her to Mohinder. Geet was beyond shocked listening to it ... Or probably it was then she understood he was Family!! And then followed the ceremonies and a quick marriage of Maaneet!!
