PART 10

PRESENT

Geet was going back to her home in a cab. She still had to come in terms with the fact that she actually saw Maan and had dinner with him.

Geet(self-thought) : unkey mann me kitni nafrat kitna gussa he aj bhi. Gussa to unka hamesha se hi aisa he bas abhi wo mere liye bhi he. Chal Geet ye rang bhi mehsus kar le apney Maan ka. Par aj wo mere Maan bhi nhi he. Najaney unkey mann me kya he jo is kadar mujse nafrat kartey he. Lekin jo bhi he yehi sahi he. Warna sabki zindagi tabah ho jayegi.

Then she was reminded of Ami.

Geet(self-thot) : agar Maan mujhe kuch bhi kahe me jhel lungi lekin Amy? Agar Maan ussey mile to? Agar usey bhi kuch ulta seedha bol diya to meri bacchi.. babaji! Nhi! Me Maan aur Amy ko kabhi amne samne nhi aney dungi.

The cab stopped in front of her house and she got in. Lisa was waiting for Geet. Amy was in her room doing her coloring and drawing. Lisa informed Geet about Ami's meeting with a stranger. Geet had already had so much tensions and worries that she couldn't take it anymore. She never ever shouted on Ami before but today was no ordinary day, she was at the peak of her temper. She barged into Ami's room.

Geet : AMI!! Humne apko mana kiya he na strangers se baat nhi karte! Ek to pehle se hi apkey mann ki kahaniyo ki wajah se log confuse ho jatey he upar se ap pata nhi kin logo se milte ho. Aur to aur lunch bhi kiya sath me! Ye kya naye tarikey he apke? Pata nhi wo kaisa admi he. Agar behla phusla ke apko kidnap karte to mumma kya karegi? Apkey alawa aur kaun he mumma ka?

Ami : mumma wo mere super-

Geet : Ami! Humari baat abhi puri nhi hui he. Apki age se zyada humne apko freedom diya he! Coz u behave like a big girl. But it's my fault. I should have known that you are too naive to go all alone. You are not meeting that man anymore, samjhi tum!!!!

Ami looked into Geet's eyes for a second and then she started sobbing uncontrollably. She ran out of her room and went to the attic still crying loudly. Geet stood there stunned. Then it hit her that she was actually talking to her five year old little daughter. She took out all her frustration on her princess. She felt so guilty and looked around but Ami was gone. Geet found a piece of paper left on the bed which Ami was drawing. There was a man and a little girl sitting on the bench of a park. Geet had tears in her eyes. She was reminded of her own dad. She realised the deep pain in Ami's mind. She was searching for her dad whom she had never met. She made up stories because she needed him and yet she never complained. Ami herself didn't know how to explain the emptiness that she felt. How could she? She never knew how it would feel like being with dad.

Geet fell on her knees on the floor. Tears rolled down her eyes. Lisa came into the room to find a shattered Geet. She touched on her shoulder consoling her. Geet turned to look at her.

Lisa : That man, he is not bad. I mean he looks genuine. Let the kid meet him. I have never seen her this happy before. And I will be with her all the time. Trust me I will protect her with all my life.

Geet smiled, "I know that Lisa. I won't oppose if you say so. But I need to apologise"

Lisa : She is at her usual place.

Geet entered the attic.

Geet : I'm sorry princess

No reply

Geet : Ami..ye ap itni darawni jagah pe kyu atey ho? Mumma ko yeha darr lagta he

Geet heard a muffled giggle and understood that Ami was standing in a corner. She still pretended that she didn't see her and then Ami jumped on her way scaring Geet. Geet took her in her arms and kissed all over her face.

Geet : mumma sorry!!

Ami still wasn't smiling completely.

Geet : ap apney friend se mil sakti he

Now her face lit up.

Ami : friend nhi super-friend!

Geet : acha baba, lekin sirf Liny ke saath

Ami : ok mumma, you are the best!!

Geet consoled herself. It's fine, after all it's not like she is meeting Maan himself. That night, while Geet lying next to Ami with her bed-time story book,

Ami : mumma papa kaise the dikhne me?

Geet felt like a dagger was blown on her chest. She had hurt her little one so badly. She was asking about her dad for the first time. Why-o-why this had to be the day when everything has to happen!

Geet knew that an apology was not enough for Ami. She smiled and kissed on her forehead.

Geet : apko kya lagta he? Apke papa kaise honge

Ami : strongesttt

Geet : hmm correct

Ami(excited) : handsome

Geet : ofcourse

Ami : aurr...ummm aurr...

Geet : loving, caring and the best! Unka pyar milna hi kismat ki baat he. Aisi kismat ki apki zindagi ka rukh badal deta he

Ami didn't quite understand what mumma was talking about.

Ami : to Ami ki kismat me papa ka pyar nhi he?

Geet cupped her face, "ofcourse he mera bacha"

Ami : phir papa Ami se milne kyu nhi aye?

Geet : ayenge na! Ab Ami se milne nhi ayenge to aur kissey milenge? Wo apko itna pyar karenge ki..ki ap mumma ko bhi bhul jayengi

Ami : na Ami ko mumma papa dono chahiye..

Ami hugged Geet and fell asleep in her arms.

Geet (self-thoughts) : kisko bewakuf bana rhi he Geet? Ami ko ya apney apko? Jiske aney ke tum isey sapney dikha rhi ho wo to hum dono ki duniya ujhaad dena chahta he! Lekin me bhi Geet Khurana hu. Amiya Singh Khurana ko uskey haq ki khushi me khud dungi aur uskey rastey me jo bhi aye me uska saamna karungi chahe wo Maan hi kyu na ho!

Next morning, the first thing Maan did was to find Geet's address through Adi. He rushed to her house to know what she did on the 4^th of September but the house was locked.

Maan : Damn! I missed her! Not any more. I will get to know what you are doing.

Just then Sweety was passing through their doors. She stopped seeing Maan.

Sweety : arey ap kaun he?

Maan : wo me..

Sweety : ap Ami ke papaji he na?

Maan closed his eyes in fury. He hated that description and this Geet she has spread the word here too.

Maan : Me Ami ka papa n(hi..)

Sweety : dekha me to dekh ke hi pehchaan gayi. Wahi ankhe he uskey bhi. Aye lo ji ap to bade chupe rustam ho kab atey ho kab jatey ho pata hi nhi chalta. Itna ki hume to laga tha Geet ka pati wo Arjun baba he. Wo to humesha yehi rehtey he na. Aj bhi dekh lo ap milne aye he aur Geet bachi ke sath subah subah Arjun baba ke sath chali gayi. Ap ayiye humare yeha chai pee lijiye aur wait kar lijiye

Maan : ji nhi

Sweety frowned and left.

Maan : ye Geet apni harkato se baaz nhi ayegi. Now she is dating Arjun!! Her new prey. Aur wo bewakuf pata nhi kabse uskey peeche pada hua he. Kya mujhe Florida jakey check karna chahiye?? Cmon Maan, you came here to prove that she is not important for you ! Never mind, iska bhi pata lag jayega.

PAST :

Geet was going to her new school for the first time. Maan and Geet were sitting on the back seat.

Maan : Geet tumhara school aa gaya he

Geet : mujhe dar lag rha he Maan sir..

Maan : darney ki koi zarurat nhi he Geet. Jab tak tumhe khud par yakin tumhe duniya walo ki phikar karne ki zarurat nhi he.

Geet smiled and got out of the car. Before she could enter the class Dev, NT and a gang of other haughty boys and girls rounded Geet.

NT : ye dekho kaun aya he

Dev : sirf ache kapde pehen lene se ya ache school me ane se you won't be one of us!

NT : tumhari aukad to wahi rahegi hamesha. Khurana's ki maid!!

Everyone of the group laughed. They teased her calling her "maidy maidy.."

A small boy from Geet's class came.to defend her.

Boy : ap log ye kyu humari class ke ladki ko pareshan kar rhe ho? Your class is there right?

NT : Arjun, how dare you!! Yeha pe tum sirf ek junior ho samjhe!

She pushed him back and everyone started teasing Geet again. Just then a girl from NT's class came there.

She protectively held Geet and stopped Dev.

Girl: Cmon Dev! Behave yourself.

Deva : Mira, we were just havin fun. Whats wrong?

Mira : hurting others is not fun. Ab chalo class me.

Dev : ok baba lets go

NT : lekin Dev

Dev : chill yaar. Lets go.

They all left. Mira turned to Geet.

Mira : hi naam kya he apka?

Geet : me Geet

Mira : kitna pyara naam he. Me Mira hu.

Geet smiled.

Mira extended her hand, "friends?"

Geet shook her hand nodding for a yes. Thus started a never ending bond of friendship. That evening Maan came out of his gym and was going to his room when he saw Geet sitting in a corner of the room worried while Annie was dancing to loud music on the TV.

Maan : Annie, Geet ko kya hua?

Annie : dn knw bhai. Mene bulaya khelne ke lie bhi nhi aa rhi.

Maan went near her.

Maan : kya hua?

Geet : ji kuch nhi

Maan : meri taraf dekho Geet aur jawab do!

Geet : ji sir wo teacher ne bola he ki 3 months baad wo mera ek test rakhenge English me aur agar usmey me ache number nhi layi to final exam nhi likhne denge. Next year mujhe 9^th me hi padna hoga

Maan : bas itni si baat?

Geet : itni si? Mere liye to ye bohat badi baat he. Me kabhi fail nhi hui aur ab..

Maan : to is baar bhi fail nhi hogi.

Geet : apkey kehne se thodi me pass ho jaungi

Maan looked at her surprised. Since the day she came to their house she was a shy timid little Geet. This was the first time she was answering him. He seemed to enjoy it.

Maan : me to sikhaunga!

Now it was Geet's time to get shocked.

Geet : ap?

Maan : ha me aur wo bhi aj se. 1 ghante me mere kamre me ao.

Geet sat there gaping at him.

After one hour Geet went to Maan's room with a bowl in her hand. Maan just came out of his shower. The wet drops were drizzling down his body. Geet looked away and pink hue crept on her cheeks.

Geet : wo mene socha kuch naya shuru kar rhe he to..meethe se shubharambh karte he. Isliye apkey liye halwa leke ayi hu.

Maan : wow thats so sweet.

Maan took the bowl from her.

Geet : me baad me ati hu.

She ran away from there. Annie saw her coming out.

Annie :kya hua Geet?

Geet : wo mene unkey liye halwa banaya tha. Wahi dene gayi thi.

Annie laughed, "ohhoo Geet, bhai aur halwa! Unhe to meetha pasand hi nhi he! Wo bhi halwa never..wo to chocolate mousse khatey he wo bhi kabhi kabhi"

Geet : chocolate mouse? Maney chuha! Ewww

Annie : chuha nhi mousse , ek mithai he.

Geet walked in confusion and bumped into Mira who came to the mansion to meet Dev.

Mira : Geet! Dev ne bataya he tum yehi rehti ho. Acha he na. Hum hamesha mil sakte he.

Geet : ..

Mira : kya hua Geet?

Geet : ye sweet ka matlab kya he?

Mira : sweet maney meetha!

Mira left with Dev.

Geet (self-talk) : sweet matlab meetha, tabhi unhoney kaha so sweet matlab halwa bohat meetha he! Jhalli kahi ki unhey jo cheez pasand nhi wahi deke ayi!

PRESENT :

Ami was playing with Lisa in a small house at Florida. Geet and Arjun were standing at the balcony watching them.

Arjun : it's the fifth year Geet!

Geet : hmm..

Arjun : Have you planned to tell Ami the truth!

Geet : I would but later someday. I don't know but definitely not now.

Arjun : Geet I really respect you aur jis tarah se tum rishtey nibhati ho me yakin ke sath keh sakta hu ki khun ke rishto se zyada dil ke rishtey hi sachey he. Aur ha Ami ka future jaisa tum chahogi waisa hi hoga. For the world, Ami is rightfully the daughter of Geet Khurana and Maan Singh Khurana.

Geet smiled, " thats so nice to hear. Lekin Maan.. he would never accept her!"

Arjun : tum ek baar Maan se baat karke dekho

Geet : kya faida! Waise bhi mujhe dekhte hi wo seengh dikha kar khule saand ki tarah aa jatey he. Aur agar bata bhi du to kya faida? Unki aur Pari ki bani banayi zindagi barbaad ho jayegi. Isliye yehi better he ki me aur Ami un sabki duniya se dur rahe!

Ami called them to play with her. They went down to join her.
