DAY 1: Okay, the first of seven days has officially started Babaji, and I am already having goosebumps, and my heart is racing, and'I don't know. Geet blushed profusely, as she lay under her covers, holding her diary and pen in front of her eyes, as daylight streamed through the windows of her bedroom. She glanced outside, only to see damp trees, and wet grounds, still dripping from the storm last night. Now, as she thought about it, she realized, with a surprise, that there were usually no rains at this time of the year in Delhi. And, yet, there was a storm last night. A STORM.
Pata nahin Babaji, aap mere saath kya kar rahe ho. Kal raat' her pen paused on the paper, as she thought of Maan and her closeness with him, his words, his rudeness, his eyes, his grip on her waist, his burnt finger, the way he had burnt it- everything caused her throat to go dry. Mujhe aisa pehle kabhi nahin hua hain.. I have written this so many times in the last few days' why is he driving me crazy? Unke saamne hosh na khona kitna mushkil hain, and, now, I have to stay with him, in his house, for the next 7 days. And, nights. Geet shivered, and shut her diary with a snap. Nahin, main aur nahin soch sakti..warna aur bhi pagal ho jaungi.
She got up, made her bed neatly, brushed her teeth, took a shower, and within a total of thirty minutes, made her way downstairs to make breakfast. As soon as she reached the kitchen, the memories of last night hit her in the gut again. She peeked in the direction of the guest room. Is he still here? She thought disbelievingly, as she took the frying pan out, and placed it on the stove absent-mindedly.
"Yes, I'm still here, Geet", he whispered, right into her ears, startling her, and causing her to drop the laddle in her hand with a clatter.
She whipped around, only to see him perched on the kitchen counter, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. He stared at her in amusement, and said, "I'm hungry. What's for breakfast?"
Yeh kya bhoot hain? Kab aaye yahaan? Mujhe kuch pata kyun nahin chala? Aur, inhe hamesha kyun pata hota hain ke main kya soch rahi hoon? She shivered slightly, and held the side of the frying pan gingerly, her voice quavering slightly, as she asked, " Aapko kuch special chahiye?"
Maan leaped down from the counter, and turned her towards him, by holding her waist. She recoiled quickly, as he held her more tightly, and said, huskily, "Yes. I do want something special. But, you don't seem to want to give me that!"
Geet looked away immediately, as his words rang shamelessly in her ears. He let go of her suddenly, and said, "Daadima ka phone aaya tha' Mohinder uncle aur Rano aunty acche se pohoch gayee hain. They can't reach the phone here. And, Daadima said", he paused, as he saw Geet looking into his eyes, and hearing his words with great concentration.
Geet didn't realize when he stopped talking. She was busy listening to him carefully, and it was one of the rare moments, when she held his gaze. Maan stared into her eyes with a mischievous glint, and, suddenly, something in Geet snapped. She looked away again, her cheeks blazing red, as she realized that Maan had caught her staring at him. Jhalli kahiki!! She scolded herself mentally, when Maan spoke, "And Daadima said, that I'm supposed to drive you to the Mansion immediately after breakfast."
Geet nodded her head quickly, and turned her hack to him, trying to control her thudding heart. He whistled slightly, and moved out of the kitchen, calling out, "Make pasta for me."
Pasta? Her mind drifted back to the day when he had told her not to make pasta for anyone else except him. Babaji, she cried out in her mind, as she prepared his breakfast diligently, mujhe nahin pata what you're up to, lekin jo bhi hain, please stop!! Just STOP!!
After a breakfast session of Maan staring intensely into Geet's eyes, and Geet hardly being able to eat anything, she washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen up, and locked all the doors and windows. Taking up her bag in one hand, she was coming down the stairs, when Maan moved up to meet her, and snatched the bag from her hand.
Weighing it in his hands slightly, he asked mockingly, "Yeh itna bhaari kyun hain? You're just leaving for 7 days' saari zindagi ke liye mere ghar shift hone ka irada hain kya?"
"Nahin..main'woh'shalini ki shaadi hain, isiliye'." She tralied away, as Maan moved his face closer to hers, their lips almost just a centimetre apart.
"Shalini ki shaadi hain, tumhari thodi'" he said, with a smirk, causing a much familiar blush to appear on Geet's cheeks.
Maan held her bag in one hand, and draped a strong arm around her waist, as she locked the house, and moved towards his car. Geet felt her breath hitch, with his grip on her body, but she didn't dare say anything. Agar phirse gussa ho gayee toh?
"When is your friend's wedding?" Maan asked, causing Geet to snap out of her thoughts.
They were already halfway to the Khurana Mansion, and Geet had been busy thinking about everything that had happened in the storm last night.
" Uh..woh' it's tomorrow", she said, biting her tongue. Why? Why do I always stammer when I talk to him?
Maan steered the car through the huge gates of the Khurana Mansion, and brought it to a sudden stop, the brakes almost screeching to a halt. He unlocked the doors suddenly, and from nowhere, a guard appeared.
"Geet ma'am ka samaan andaar le jao", he commanded.
Once, the guard had left, complete with Geet's bag, Maan leaned forward, and undid her seatbelt. Geet lowered her eyes immediately, and held her breath, when he said, "I'm going to take you to the wedding tomorrow. Don't you dare go with anyone else, samjhi?"
Geet looked up in astonishment, as he ordered her. She was still staring at him, stunned, when he growled, "Now, if you don't mind, I'm getting late for office. Care to go inside?"
Geet quickly shook herself, as her nervousness crept back in. She opened the door carefully, and climbed out, and Maan drove away the minute she closed the door. She stared after him in bewilderment, and said to herself. Mujhe inka kuch samajh kyun nahin aata Babaji.
She walked inside, only to be greeted by Savitri Devi, Pavitra, and Annie, who had skipped college. She was hugged by all three of them, and Annie spoke first.
"So, Geet, how was your first night alone with Bhai?" she giggled, giving Geet a wide wink.
Pavitra and Savitri Devi bit their lips to stop themselves from giggling too. Pavitra slapped Annie on her arm, as Geet blushed profusely, and lowered her gaze, and said, "Annie, usse taang karna bandh kar."
Geet felt her cheeks turn a brighter shade of crimson, as the ladies looked away from her. Annie chuckled, hugged her, and took her inside, to show her the guest room. The two elderly ladies stared at Geet as she walked away, her footsteps soft and graceful and barely making a sound.
"Maaji, pata nahin humari iccha kabhi puri hogi bhi ya nahin", Pavitra said, with a sigh.
"Zaaroor hogi.." Savitri Devi, said confidently, "Hum aapne Maan ko bohut acchi tarah se jante hain. I know what he likes, or rather, what he loves." She finished with a grin.
*****
"Baba, aap meri chinta mat kijiye. Main thik hoon. Aap baas maa ka khayal rakhna. Yahaan sab mera bohut khayal rakhte hain." She spoke into the phone in her slow voice.
They were all sitting in the hall, waiting for Maan and Aditya to arrive from the office, so that they could have dinner. In a few minutes, as Aditya entered, he hugged Geet fondly, and went upstairs to freshen up. Maan came in a few minutes later, his forehead crinkled, and his eyes staring in great concentration at his phone.
"Hello Bhai. Welcome home." Annie said, with a slight giggle.
Maan looked up, only to see Geet sitting in the sofa in front of him, with her cheeks slightly pink, and her eyes looking everywhere except him. She could feel his gaze on him, and it made her sweaty palms even sweatier. Annie giggled slightly, breaking the tense situation, and causing Maan at look away.
"I'm going to the gym. Call me when the dinner is ready", he said, and walked away.
*****
After about one hour, when the family settled themselves down on the dinner table, Aditya looked around in surprise.
"Where is Maan?" he asked.
"He is in the gym. Main bulati hoon", Pavitra said, when Savitri Devi stopped her.
"The gym is almost outside the Mansion. Bulane se woh kabhi nahin sunega. Geet, bete, please go and ask Maan to come for dinner", she said, with a warm smile, causing Annie to splutter out the water she was drinking.
Geet looked at everyone on the table in wonder. They stared back at her expectantly, and Annie said, "Hain, Geet. Jao, go quickly. Bhai must be hungry."
Geet stood up gingerly, almost losing her balance in her nervousness. She nodded her head, and walked out of the dining room, making her way through the deserted corridors, towards the gym. Mujhse kyun kaha? She thought in surprise, Annie bhi toh aa sakti thi, na?
She ignored her thoughts, deciding that it was Daadima's orders.
Yes, yes, I know...bring on all the jhootis and chappals. I deserve them.😕
But, trust me, the disappearance was completely unintentional. It's summer in my beloved country and the hours of load shedding are gruesome. Plus, of course, I have an education institute to make my life hell too.😡
I'm on my way to update Fantasy too (finally!😆). I'll be finishing that FF as soon as possible, so that I can start A Sudden Change Of Heart. The Pms will be after I finish updating Fantasy.😊
I hope you're all liking Passion. Let me know how this update was. Oh, and give me 12-13 pages of comments and I will update AS SOON AS that's completed. Pakka wala promise.😃
Love you all
