I would like to express my deep resentment and disapproval over the regressive way you have been handling this whole redemption episode...first, you let a criminal get away scot free in the name of his victim granting him redemption...you gave the female lead such horrendous lines making it seem like she was the perp and the antagonist the victim..today, you are putting out pictures of the criminal, whose soul is so lightened by his redemption, wanting to play Holi with his erstwhile victim..he wants to take the liberty of smearing her face with colour...this is the last straw..it is your show and your story...but you cannot deign to hurt the sensibilties of hundreds of thousands of female fans who've put your show where it is...you need not give us role models like you promised but will you please stop treating women with such contempt....!!!!

Good points made👏...however for positive role models and good story lines i watch other programmes....i have given up trying to watch this serial and relate how they can have the victim and perpetrator in the same house and make it look as if this is ok. This is the one and only indian serial i have ever watched and in the beginning it was highlighting a very important issue within our culture. However i have issues with the word "rapist" being used by fans.

Now i only watch it for maaneet....their chemistry as the main issues have been sidelined. But let's wait and see.....they might just bring the magic of old HP days back😊

Actually, I don't look for role models in TV shows either,,,but the PH/creatives made these rather tall claims at the time of the show's launch...I am just trying to reminding them of that!

DO I have to say something.......for creatives not geet............because she was puppet of them...this is probably my last ranting..........no more from my side,,,,,,,
I felt cheated as die hard feminist inside me really hoped they will show justice not forgiveness....But anyway It too much to expect from daily soap...show us real solution....I expected from Ballika vadhu I failed..........I expected here I failed....one actually glamorized child marriage other glorified Fake NRI marriage......

This is from Sandipa from EE........
Dev's Mistake or Crime??

Past few episodes we have been again hearing Dev making a mistake? For me what he did is crime and he has to be punished.

Crime: Definitions of crime as deviant behavior that violates prevailing norms ' cultural standards prescribing how humans ought to behave normally.

Mistake is an error.

So for many of us, what Dev did is a crime and he has to be punished and he has to pay for his sins!

I am quoting it here ......because I felt same..There is no forgiveness for crime.....its for mistake,,,,,,,,,I know you never intended social message show...........but you could left it there..........we would have waited for justice........not closed this chapter with such moral less...ethic less idea of forgiveness.....Lets preach that......why to fight.....better forgive and move on.....because fighting for justice cant be easy............its require.....ur past to interfere into present again and again.....A fighter is always winner whether you win or loose....A fighter never quits and quitter never win............I used to make fun of Pratigya , Ballika Vadhu, Bairi Piya...Na ANA iss dehs lado....why to start a show fighting for women injustice and then end up giving worst solution on earth...You joined the league...rather you topped the league in worst solution..............forgive the rapist and attain Nirvana...............
GHSP is not different...is usual soap .........I guess only its fans were different ....who stupidly considered it different

@TM thanks a lot for the post.
and I am posting here what I wrote on other thread rather threads.

QUOTED FROM ANOTHER THREAD -
This is the longest post I am going to write on whether Dev should be forgiven or not. Till now, i have always ended my comments in 6-7 lines conveying my view strongly. But, today I think I need to clarify all the points and the proofs on whose basis I have always advocated the need of punishment to Dev rather than forgiveness.😡

Firstly,
Dev had done a mistake which is not only a crime but also something which can be called inhuman. He married a girl, for her property, and then left her. Then, what was the need to trap her in his artificial love? Why did he make her feel as if she was going to get all her dreams come true? Why did he make her feel as if she was going to have the best groom in her life, any girl could demand for? He did that where he could have easily married Geet without bringing her in his artificial love. Geet's family, as is totally understood, is the type of one, where love doesn't matter for girls before their marriage.
Now, the next thing. Even if he married her, why did he did something which made Geet's life even more painful? Why did he spend that night in the lounge with her? Some answers may come as - he couldn't control himself. Now, this is not an excuse for making an 18 year old girl pregnant. He did a mistake, a big or rather the biggest mistake.
He used sleeping pills in Geet's coffee to escape. Can a man put up a show of more cowardice than this? My answer is no.
He flew to canada with his the then family. Not even once, he thought of finding out about Geet, though he thought sometimes of her.

A lot of answers say that he must be forgiven because even God gives second chance, then why not we.

Didn't God give a second or rather third chance to him?

Haven't you many a times heard from the mouth of his actual wife, that he had lost all his money in playing 'jua'. He borrowed huge sums of money from people. Even after that, Maan forgave him and accpepted him so easily. And what had he done?Ditched a girl from a small town.

Many answers have also come that he did so because he was in the influence of his actual wife. Really? An about 23-24 year ld person doesn't have his thoughts? He doesn't have the mind or the brain to think what is wrong and what is right? He doesn't see the misery of the girl whom he was going to deceive for mere rupees. And if his soul didn't tell him this was wrong, then do you think he is worth forgiveness?I say, NO.

Now, the next excuse or rather say reason after forgiving Dev put forward is that he is repenting. Do you really think he is repenting?
No. He is not. Just decorating a room, taking the girl whom he deceived to some random place (helping her), and doing some more sorts like taking things out for her in the kitchen, never makes what we call repentance. No ways. If he really wanted to repent he must have himself surrendered to the court. Though, I dunno much about the judicial system of our country, I can tell that if a person surrenders himself in front of judiciary, his crime is always excepted and there is no need of proof for that except in some special cases which are not applicable here.

Now, coming to the next point; Saying that the girl whom he had deceived should forgive him because she has to move on in her life, is totally undesirable. What ever he did, did not only affect her but also a lot of people around her. And now, she forgives him because she doesn't want to be the reason of someone's guilt? This is not fair.
Secondly, This is a serial. I am emphasizing, a serial. this means that it is an artificial world, which has to remain in the cameras and TVs. But, don't forget in this process that it reaches to a number of people from all over the world. Now, do you think by forgiving him, the serial is giving a right message to the people?

If this had to be the reality, then all the judicial systems and institutions should be shut up as I think most of the criminals, after doing the crime, repent on it. but, this doesn't happen that they are left away.

Shrimadbhagwadgeeta, a holy Hindu epic, says in the form of Lord Krishna that 'what goes comes along again'.That exactly means, at some stage of time, we have to be punished for our sins. Even , the ancient and purest books tell this. Then who are we to forgive people?

I am not saying that Dev should remain in same way all his life-time. But, then I also favour the thing that he should be punished as stated by law and that is the way he can repent a little bit on his sins. There's no other way.

I am sorry if I hurt someone's feelings.
No offence intended to anyone.
No pun intended; this is a total serious post.😊

Mahi told me of your comment on ym & i just logged in to Like It ....

Here is what i wrote at a similar topic on Geet FB Discussion

Completely agree with you on this. I get it shows are not modes to preach but that doesn't give them liberty to show such demeaning thing.

As a woman i find it seriously insulting.
The show was about a woman's fight for justice, is this it!!

Dev to me is a Sinner & being a girl i refuse to forgive a man who thinks not twice before ruining a girl's life , her innocence & dignity for a mere moments of pleasure of his.

I seek justice & demand such man to be punished for his crime, his Sins.

Lord Almighty is fountain of forgiveness yet He has built both Heaven & Hell..
All Sins are not forgivable, ruining a innocent life to me stands for one of them.

To top it they showing 'all is well in paradise' ....God! last episode he was shown to have the audacity to touch her & she instead of slapping him for doing that stood there hearing him & then the revolting 'forgiveness act'.

Now he dares to play Holi with her & she so readily accepts it & puts him tikka....

shocking & unacceptable.
