Maan walks into the outhouse when he hears a loud scream and saw Geet rushing from the kitchen.
Seeing him she yelled "Maan" and flew into his arms. She jumped up, wrapped her legs around his waist, clung to his neck tightly and buried her head in his shoulder. Maan was taken aback by this strange behaviour and holding the back of her head, he brought it forward to look into her eyes.
"What is the matter, Geet?" he asked her with concern.
She did not say anything but with fear clearly written in her eyes, she pointed her hand to the kitchen. Wondering what could have scared his pretty little fiance so much that she hopped on to him like a baby, he held her tightly against him in the same position and walked to the kitchen. He looked around and couldn't see anything unusual.
"What is it, Geet? Everything seems to be normal. What are you scared of?" he asked her in a gentle tone.
With her face still buried in his shoulder, she pointed to the wall in front of him. His eyes followed her finger and settled on a big fat lizard on the wall, tut-tuting to let people know his presence. He seemed to be pleased to be ruling the kitchen walls.
"You are scared of the lizard?" asked Maan with a mixture of astonishment and amusement. He already knew she was terrified of cockroaches but he did not know she was also terrified of their predators.
Geet nodded her head, refusing to look at him or the lizard.
Maan couldn't resist smiling at his timid fiance. He gently put her down and holding her by her waist, he kept looking around the other walls.
"What are you searching for?" asked Geet in a small voice, her head turned up to him. "Do you want something to get rid of it? There is a stick behind the door. Don't hit it though - just use it to threaten it so that it will go away."
"No, I am not looking for a stick. I am looking for Mrs.Lizard."
She looked at him in confusion.
"Mrs.Lizard?" she repeated.
"Yeah, Mr.Lizard's wife. I presume she must be around somewhere here too!"
Geet let out another scream and jumped up on him again.
"Why do you want to look for another lizard?" she asked, pouting her lips.
"Well, if there are two of them, then there are chances that there will be some baby lizards as well," he said in a matter of fact tone.
"Do you want to chase them all?" she asked hopefully.
"Chase them? Are you crazy? Why would I want to chase my allies?"
"Your allies?" asked Geet in puzzlement.
"Yeah, see they managed to get you on my hip like this. I owe them one, don't I?"
He then turned to the lizard and said in a serious tone, "Don't worry Mr.Lizard, I'll get you some fat flies to feed on tomorrow. Don't ever leave the kitchen wall when my fiance and I are around."
Geet punched him and sliding down from his hip, she stomped her feet and tried to run out screaming, "You will not get your breakfast, Mr.Maan Khurana."
Maan laughed out loud.
