I think this is what might have happened. Remember there was this news sometime ago that they were auditioning for Vicky and Sammy. Now they must have wanted a young looking guy and a little matured looking gal for the roles. They may not have found what they were looking for and instead found a young girl (?) and a matured looking guy (Mohit Mallik). Mohit could not have played the youngest of the Khuranas. He looks as old or older than Maan. So they decided to introduce a bro for NT and a sis for MK. With the 6-day week they were under pressure to introduce the new characters soon. so they went ahead and hired these two.

My theory is that we are having these new characters because of practical problems faced by the PH.

Another bit-o-crap for u... my pebble n water analogy... Maan is a stone and Geet is water.
