Hey guys, I'm Sapna and I am new to the forum. I started watching Gathbandhan about a month ago and then I went back and watched all the episodes. I just made this post to introduce myself and share my two cents, not expecting too many replies though cause it's a pretty soona forum
I really like the concept of this show, although Raghu isn't really a don per se. I guess the main conflict is between Mai and Dhanak (rather than Dhanak and Raghu) and also within Raghu himself and how he has to deal with these two contrasting personalities in his life.
I also love the chemistry between RaNak, they are so cute together. And after seeing yesterday's episode, I'm convinced Dhanak has serious feelings for Raghu, but she just hasn't realized it. They have such a good relationship even though they've only been married for like two months and had only met a month before that. 😆 Its mostly Raghu who is holding the relationship together but Dhanak is definitely making an effort to fit in to the family as well.
I have to say, though, that the show was better before the wedding and grah pravesh. I really enjoyed watching RaNak's friendship blossom and also all of the comedy that resulted from all the MU's, like Raghu hiding from Dhanak's dad and pretending not to be related to Mai. 😆
The tracks post marriage have been kind of redundant. Mai trying to break RaNak up, coming up with different schemes and then RaNak (mostly Dhanak) outsmarting her and failing her plans. Also, Raghu needs to stop being a people pleaser and decide once and for all what his priorities are. The fact of the matter is that Dhanak's profession simply isn't compatible with the Jadhav's lifestyle and eventually, something's gonna have to give, whether it's Dhanak's dream, Mai's business, the relationship between RaNak, or the relationship between Raghu and his Mai. And Raghu is totally in over his head trying to keep everyone happy and try to make it all work. Especially since, neither Mai or Dhanak seem to be willing to compromise. And therein lies the main conflict.
Another reason I love this show is because the cast is great. Not only is everyone amazing at acting, but also everyone in the ensemble is basically an underdog or debut and yet they're all so good together. And all of the characters are mostly well written and everyone has a role to play in the show. The only character I don't like is Maya cause she's well on her way to becoming a vamp. Today Mai told her friend that since she can't break up RaNak, she wants to break Dhanak's dream instead, which basically implies that as long as Dhanak doesn't interfere with their business, Mai is fine with her being Raghu's wife. So I guess eventually when Mai and Dhanak unite, Maya will become the vamp of the show.
But, I am excited to see Mai and Dhanak unite because I remember at the fish market, Mai said that if Dhanak wasn't so principled, she would've been her favourite. So considering how strong these two women are on their own, it would be very interesting to see them kick butt once they become a team. #girlpower. Side note, other than their morals it's so interesting how similar Mai and Dhanak are, which probably explains why Raghu fell in love with Dhanak in the first place. Raghu basically married his mom. 😆
So my prediction is that after RaNak unite, they will team up to reform Mai and we will see her undergo a change of heart. But also, part of me thinks that RaNak will become separated after Dhanak realizes and maybe confesses her love for Raghu. Today when Raghu said he wants lots of kids, (this was so funny btw, Dhanak looked so awks 😆 ) it made me think of another possible way the show could go. After RaNak reunite and consummate, one possibility could be that Dhank gets pregnant and decides that she doesn't want her child to grow up watching his family steal and stuff so she may leave Raghu because of that and then there may be a leap after which Mai would have a change of heart because of her grandchild. This is a very ghissi-pitti, used and reused plot in tellywood, so if makers were going after TRP, they may show something like this. I don't know why I feel like RaNak will def be separated at least once before they reunite for good because of the whole forced marriage. But this is all just me speculating, I am interested to see how RaNak's relationship grows and develops.
Sorry for the long spiel, I will stop blabbering now. Please do share your thoughts and speculations on the show and RaNak. I would love to see more activity on the forum. It's kind of strange that the forum of a show with such good TRP has such minimal activity.
