Chapter 3
After the little ceremony, sagar stood their watching the pot full of dust. It wasn't long before sahil came and told him it was time to let it go. They all were ready to go when the police came, confuse NIRA asks them what he can do for them. The head of the police hits his stick on his hand while looking at them " I am here to arrest sugar" he says
" what...why?" Madhvi says
The officer walk towards sagar " turns out your son prints were on the evidence we found and also the letter confirmed it was him" he finished
Nira told them how can that be, when jhanvi committed the suicide. The officer shook his head, " baste on what we gathered, this was no suicide. Their were to much blood on the floor to be suicide. And the victim, look like she was stabbed twice. " so you just assumed it was my son" he says
" his finger prints were on the knife"
Sagar still confuse asks what letter. The officer took out the letter and read it. Sagar was shock " this is not the letter jhanvi wrote to me, the letter I have it" he says
" show us than", sagar told then to follow him, their he search for the letter but he couldn't find it. " I was sure it was in this room" he says unaware of yash hiding in his closet.
" you have no proof to defend yourself. Sagar, you are under arrest for murdering your wife jhanvi and buying her drugs" he says
" NO!!" Madhvi scream
The police handcuffs sagar and drag him outside. The family followed him, ganga calling sagar name, telling him that she will prove him innocent. While the car leaves ganga runs after it. Sagar turn and look at gangs crying, this brought back memories of their childhood, when he was leaving over seas. " GANGA!" He screams, when she fell. She looks up, her heart aching. She tried to stand up and run after him, but palash held her back. She looks at him and he shook his head " we will get sagar back, don't you worry" he says sadly
She looks at the road one last time before sadly nodding. Dadi was on the floor crying so was madhvi. NIRA on the other hand was making calls, after hanging up he told everyone that he will take sagar case. He told them he won't spare who tried to ruin them. Palash came in with ganga. He told them he will take the case. Madhvi told him they can't let him do that, because they don't want to burden him.
Palash denies it " don't worry, sagar is my friend. Besides gangs will help me too since she knows sagar more." He says
NIRA thought about it, before agreeing.
It was the day of the hearing. Everyone was nervous. They brought sagar in and walk to the front, ganga heart beats when she made eye contact with him. To her it felt like years, she ressure herself and focus. Jhanvi dad lawyer read the case before starting to speak. " your owner, jhanvi was a smart girl, trying to become a lawyer, she never did drugs or hang with any bad influence, until she met sagar.
Sagar neglected her so much that she went into depression. This leading to drugs as her comfort" he says now showing her medical result after they look through her record. NIRA and sagar sadly look guilty. " that's not all your honor, baste on our record of money transfer, we can infer that sagar was aware of jhanvi doing drugs. Why else did he continue to let her buy it, after knowing what it does"
" OBJECTION!!" Sagar says standing up
The judge told him to be quiet. Sagar bold his fist in anger, but he quickly calm down when he looks at gangs. " anyway, I would like to bring my first witness to the stand. Mr sahil" he says surprising them. Pulk asks why he was doing this " we are friends, yes, but I can't overlooked the fact that jhanvi was my sister" he says to them before walking to the stand and sit down.
" sahil, explain to us how was sagar like over seas? Did he behave any other way" he says
Sahil looks at sagar before speaking " sagar was very in love with jhanvi and he would also have crazy parties with only close friends. Nothing really has change about him" he says
" you say he was in love with jhanvi, am I correct"
" yes" he says
" what changed? You just told us that nothing has changed about sagar, but than you say he was in love with jhanvi. So wouldn't that means something did change about sugar" he says making sahil hesitate.
Sahil looks at sagar who was looking sternly at the lawyer. He sigh " his heart changed" he says
" elaborate for us"
" when we came back, and he met ganga something changed. He was very upset and sad half of the time"
The lawyer nod " and why is that" he says
" I don't really know" he says
" that will be all your honor" he says
It wasn't long before palash came to the stand " your honor I would like to question sahil once more" he says the judge gave him permission " sahil, you said sagar changed after meeting ganga, so tell me how did your sister react to seeing gangs? Did she behave in some kind of way" he says
Sahil remember jhanvi getting frustrated and weird when he told her she should come with him. He nod his head " yes, my sister was jealous of their relationship. She thought ganga might take sagar away from her" he says
Madhvi glares at ganga, but soon paid attention. " did she do anything out of anger or jealousy" he says
Sail thought about it " I don't really know. She usually smiles around the family" he says
Palash looks at the judge " see your owner I've had a client who would smile all the time, hiding how she feels behind that smile. What if that's exactly what jhanvi did. What if that's why the family weren't aware of her depression or the fact that she was using drugs." He says
Jhanvi dad yells " what are you implying... That my daughter has a personality disorder" he says
" no, these are just what ifs " he looks at the Judge before saying " I believe that instead of confronting her problems, she decides to take the easier way out to release her stress.. Drugs" " who do we know is convicted of selling drugs.. . non other than jhanvi father" he says shocking the jurry
Whispers could be heard all around, the judge told them to shush. He said they will take a break and come back. Palash sat down and whipped his forehead. Ganga told him he did well, so did NIRA. Madhvi walk towards sagar and touch his shoulder " we will get you out. Don't worry"
Sagar loom at her before hugging her. Dadi came soon after and hug him. It wasn't long before the next hearing start. This time jhanvi lawyer was on the case " I would like to call up kanta dadi" he says
" he can't do that" pulk says looking at his dad
" unfortunately he can" he whispers
Dadi surprise got up and walk to the bench. She prayed before looking at the lawyer " dadi, can I call you that" he says
" go ahead"
" alright, like sahil said earlier, jhanvi was jealous of ganga. Was their any implication that would have made her think that way" he says
" ganga... She was a free spirit. She does what ever she please, her and sagar were childhood friend s. They have this special bond" she finished
" special bond? Like what?"
Madhvi froze so did sagar and ganga. NIRA on the other hand looked confuse. " they are considered soulmate" she finished
" how can one be soulmate. I've heard of people getting married interlock their soul with their partner, but what could have made sagar and ganga" he says turning to her " soulmates"
Dadi staid quiet " unless, they were married. I mean baste on what I gathered about gangA she was a child widow. At such a young age.so its not common for her to start having feelings for someone. Am I right" he says making the crowd start to whisper
" objection your honer" palash says
" where are you taking this" the judge said
" all I'm saying is what if jhanvi found out about the love ganga has for her bf and she felt threaten by it. After all dadi said they had a special bond, that could only means they were already married and that it was one sided from ganga part"
Ganga refuse to put her head down. When she heard people mumble things like " how can a widow marry for the second time at a young age? And she is a disgrace. Sagar looks at ganga he wish he could comfort her, but he could only watch as palash held her hand and caressing it.
Palash let her hand go and stood up " dadi, was sagar marriage forced or did they both concent to it?"
" they both came in hand in hand, and sagar says he went and married her legally"
" without the family concent?"
"Yes"
" and why is that?" He asks making her tense
" we...we were to worked up by the fact that he married ganga. He wanted to show us how much pain he was in so he married ganga."
" by doing that , I believe janvi became even more jealous. And felt threaten. Why, because she will always be sagar second choice. This your honor is another dark truth that led to her depression. Usually when someone get like this, they lashout or do something to remove the pain. Jhanvi father is to smart to let his daughter involve in his drug business, that means someone else must have gave it to her. Someone she can trust to get her more, someone that can easily sneak in and sneak out without getting caught. Maybe a family member" he says
" objection your honor" the lawyer says
Yash in his seat nervously gulp. He thinks palash is very smart. He needs to think smart, he quickly text the lawyer before acting like nothing was wrong. The lawyer decides to speak " is it true that because of ganga the family was split?"
" yes" madhvi says
" splitting family and trying to steal another women men. I would think that ganga was trying to seduce and remove jhanvi from sugar life." He says
" objection" palash says
The lawyer ignored him " continue please"
" I found a video of ganga with a men. They were about to get intimate, could that guy be sagar. We never did confirm who the men was. Let's say jhanvi finds out and did more drugs , ganga convince sagar kill jhanvi so they can be together. That's why he killed her and made it seen like it was an Accident." He finished
" this theory is ridiculous your honor" NIRA says
" is it mr. Chaturvedi" he says
The judge told them the hearring will continue in two weeks, before leaving. The officers took sagar back to the cell ignoring madhvi cry.
Later on NIRA was furious " what is the meaning of this, ganga and sagar were already married" he says " how did that happens" , madhvi told him to calm down before explaining the incident. After explaining NIRA was overwhelmed with emotion. He told them he would like to be alone. They protested at first, but they soon gave in.
NIRA in his room, cried. He felt guilty for not understanding ganga even today. He should have known that ganga wouldn't act a certain way unless, it involves his son. He looks at the ganesh statue and pray. He prayed for forgiveness and for separating them. He prayed that they will find each other again, to live a happy life. He felt touched that ganga loved his son so much that she tied her fate with his to save his life. He was really greatful, but frown when he remember the words he said to her.
He realize how selfish he had been and how right ganga was about him. "None of this would have happend if I had just listen. I'm so sorry ganga" he says
While this was happening, ganga was in the house thinking. Trying to piece things together. What palash said at the court got to her. A family member supplying jhanvi with drugs, suddenly she remember seeing yash that night while investigating. Hoe they chase after him in the crime scene. Than she remember yash entering jhanvi window and injecting her. " it all made sense" she whispers
" what does?" Palash says on his computer
"Yash, he supplied jhanvi with drugs."
" can you testify that in court?"
" yes, but we also need another proof. If we can get his phone and the real letter that has jhanvi blood. We can win this case"
" tomorrow, maybe I can get a warrant to search his house"
" how will you do that, your not a cop"
Palash told her not to worry, he will find a way and if they can't. They will just do it the ganga way. This confuse ganga, but she soon smile understanding.
