The first week numbers of & TV the new channel from Zee network stable have just been announced. Sunjoy Waddhwa produced socio-show Ganga (8.30 pm) is the channel leader at 0.6 TVR. " Hiten Tejwani who plays one of the leads in Ganga says, " I am very happy. We all believed in the concept of the show and worked very hard. I think what separates our show from the rest is the meat in the content "
Interestingly Shahrukh Khan anchored India Poochega - Sabse Shaana Kaun' has to be satisfied with joint second with Bhabhiji Ghar Pe at 0.4. Zee & would have definitely expected this flagship show( most imp 9 pm slot) to give better traction as compared to its fiction show's which sadly has not happened in week one . The channel carried full page adds in major dailies on launch date promoting India Poochega.
Asif Shiekh who plays the lead in Bhabhiji Ghar Pe says," I am very happy that simple comedy has managed to open along with SRK's show. The channel spent huge amounts of money promoting the later, while not much was done to push us ahead . But we were always confident that we will do well for we have the right content. I am sure our numbers will only get better with each passing week."
The channel overall though has opened with a GRP of 42 which is much better then what Sony Pal debuted ( below 15)few months back . But yet it much lower then what Life Ok began programming 85 . but we need to also factor in Life Ok previous avatar Star One closed the week before around 40 GRP. & TV has the highest opening for any new launches in the recent past.
Asif furthur said," this great opening is no mean task given the fact that it is very tough to break audiences from existing shows, Zee & content is good. Not only my above shows al other shows are path breaking as well i.e Ganga, Razia Sultan etc. SRK is a superstar so need to say anything extra about him. Full credit to the channel for having got the requisite distribution network in place from day one." Razia Sultan, Begusaria and Bhagya Laxmi all finished week one at 0.3
