PART 65:

THE NEXT FEW WEEKS:

Angad and Kripa had a hectic schedule over the next few weeks. Kripa was busy wrapping up the shoot for her movie. Angad had to meet with several press reporters, TV news channels etc to answer questions about his case. He hated talking about his case again and again; he wanted to bury any unpleasant memories from the case and tried to avoid the reporters as much as he could. In fact, he started accompanying Kripa for her shoots and assist the camera man to distract himself.

Angad was offered a promotion by "Creative Advertising' but he declined. He resigned from the company, which was responsible for so much pain and humiliation in his life. They never helped him when he needed them the most; now that he was proven innocent, they were begging him to come back.

Carl, Mishti , Kathy, Michelle and Simone were all fired from the company. The three accusers had to arrange for $500,000.00 to pay Angad as part of the final judgment. Carl and Mishti brushed their hands off and refused to help them. The three women were so disheartened with them; they gathered evidence against Carl and reported him to the police. Apparently, Carl had a 'side business' of bringing young women from the Far East for prostitution to the US in exchange for a lot of 'benefits' from rich businessmen and politicians in the US. It was a matter or time; Carl's days as a free person were limited. He could get jailed for up to 25 years for his crime!

Carl dropped Mishti like a hot potato. He refused to acknowledge any relationship with her; he hurled racial slurs at her and even physically abused her when she tried to plead with him. Mishti was now job-less, home-less (as she had given up her apartment in the hope of marrying Carl just before the case), penny-less (she had a habit of spending more than she could afford) and love-less (no boyfriends, no family, no friends).

Naina And Dilip arranged for a reception party for Kripa and Angad.

"Beti…teri shaadi ko ek saal hone waala hai…..humney kabhie reception diya hi nahin tha…….now we have a lot to celebrate……I have invited Angad's family from India also…..just dress up your best this Saturday…Ok?" Naina convinced Kripa for the reception party.

Kripa was very pleased; she hung up and looked for Angad. He was busy researching something on the NET.

Kripa circled her arms around his neck, "kya research karte rehte ho aaj kal?" she kissed his cheek and brushed her cheek against him.

Angad pulled her onto his lap and shut his laptop, "now that is a surprise……your anniversary surprise…..I can't tell you now."

Kripa was anxious to find out, "batao na…..I don't like surprises…..are we finally going to go on our long overdue honeymoon?"

"May be….may be not!" he did not reveal any details, "mom kya keh rahi thi," he diverted the topic and kissed her face, "mmmm…..you smell nice…..what fragrance are you wearing today?"

Kripa blushed as he continued to nibble and brush his lips on her neck, "it is called madly-in-love fragrance."

"Make sure you have this fragrance on till you are 80, and I am 85….OK?" Angad pulled her sleeve down and kissed her shoulder.

"What about after 80?" she asked

"Then it might not matter…..I might have lost my sense of smell by then," he laughed.

"Buddhe ho ge tum! Main tho kabhie budhhi nahin hongi," she giggled.

"You will always be my 22 year old turtleneck girl!" he kissed her lips and moaned, "God…….you are so sweet."

THE RECEPTION:

Kripa wore a beautiful orange saree and Angad looked dashing in a blue shirt jacket and jeans (imagine the picture below) for the evening reception.

Naina had invited all her friends and acquaintances to celebrate this occasion. Karan Johar, Imran Khan and their movie team were also present. Kanan, Nishant and their kids had just arrived that morning. Bua could not make it due to health reasons. Dilip had picked them from the airport and had insisted they stay with them while they were in New York.

Kartik and Kelly were also present. Kelly wore a saree, which Kripa had gifted to her recently after they had one the case- 'a friendship saree' as she called it.

Kanan gave a warm hug to Kripa and Angad, "main aaj bahut khush hoon…..lekin Angad tumne humein bataaya nahi ki tum par itna badhaa case chal raha tha?"

"Haan yaar…..you should have told us…..you guys went through a lot….didn't you?" Nishant added.

"Bhaiyya…it's over now…..I don't want to talk about it anymore," Angad sighed. Kripa put her arm around her husband's waist, reassuring him that it was all over and she was with him, no matter what. The case had changed Angad quite a bit- he had become more withdrawn, not as friendly with strangers, especially women as he used to be. He had STOPPED FLIRTING with anyone, even if casually……he preferred to channel all his energies into planning for their future and being there for Kripa, nothing else mattered now.

Sonu and Chutki ran into their chacha's arms and gave their new chachi a big hug and kiss. Sonu was particularly excited, as his chachi was going to be in a movie and that too with his favorite star, IMRAN KHAN!

Later, Angad took Nishant to a corner, "bhaiyya…can you keep a secret?"

"Secret? Bolo?" Nishant was surprised.

"I am planning to move back to India," Angad said

Nishant was thrilled, "really? That is the best news I have ever heard….wow….when….where?" he could not control his excitement.

"That is my anniversary surprise to Kripa……so please keep it hush hush…..most likely Mumbai, as that is where she has always wanted to go…..can you help me find a place in Mumbai? Aapke tho contacts hai na wahan?" Angad asked

"Sure…in fact a friend of mine has just built a new apartment complex there…..done….I will make sure you have a place….great news yaar…..parr tu karega kya wahan?" Nishant asked
"I will start my own studio…..basically help aspiring models and actors get a foothold into the glamour world," Angad grinned.

"Well….you are certainly very qualified for that……look what you have done with Kripa….that is amazing…..I saw her photographs in the Namaste India brochure," Nishant patted his brother.

"Well bhaiyya…..I don't think I can replicate that ever again…..Kripa sirf ek hi hai……aur waisa kaam maine sirf ek hi ladki ke liye kiya hai……she is my life….mere jeene ki wajah hai wo," he looked at his wife adoringly.

"What a romantic! Maan gaye Angad…..aashiq ho tho aisa!" Nishant teased him

"Wo hai hi aisi," Angad blushed a little and then excused himself.

Karan walked up to Angad, "Hey Angad….I want a favor…do you mind clicking some pictures of my lead pair….I know you would do justice to my pair like no one else could."

"Sure," Angad smiled; he loved taking pictures of Kripa, even if she was going to pose with her on screen lover!

Angad took several pictures of Kripa and Imran. They made a good onscreen pair and Angad's magical fingers made them look really dashing and attractive.

"Angad….you are amazing…..don't you get jealous when you see your wife so close to another man?" Karan asked

"Jealous? Only people who are insecure about their love get jealous…..I know Kripa is mine….and will always be mine," Angad reflected.

After dinner, Angad and Kripa led the guests on the dance floor. They danced non-stop to various English and Hindi fast and slow numbers.

Angad and Kripa held each other for a while even after the song was over. Similarly, Kartik and Kelly, Nishant And Kanan were also lost in each other's arms.

After a number of guests dispersed, Karan announced that he would have a private screening of his movie for close family and friends. They all settled down in Dilip's home theatre to watch the rushes of the movie, "Humsafar"

Angad tucked himself next to Kripa on the couch and put his arm around her. His fingers caressed her bare back and shoulders sensuously in the dark as everyone went ga-ga over the beautiful cinematography, acting and lead pair chemistry. Kripa could not pay attention to the movie screening as Angad kept arousing her with his fingers on her back. He had taken his socks and shoes off and his toes continued to explore her feet and shins under her saree in the dark.

Kripa whispered, "sharam nahin aati…..yahan bachhe bhi hain."

He whispered back, "bachhe are busy with Tanya and Rohan……let their chacha enjoy their chachi instead."

Kripa snuggled close to him and put her arm around his waist and tickled him a little. They kept teasing and fooling around with each other when the doorbell rang.

"I will get it," Dilip got up and answered the door.

"MISHTI?"
