Sapna is Naina's cousin's wife. So, they're not particularly close. It's just that when Sapna and Amit shifted back to Mumbai, Sapna came to see visit Naina because she knew Naina worked at Sanjeevani. Is bahaane she thought she'll meet the gang also.
And Naina is the daughter of one of Shanky's friends. When Shanky found out, he brought Naina home. This part of the story is canon. It happened in s2. Naina's dad had come to Mumbai and he was gonna take Naina back with him because he found out that she was seeing Yuvi and he didn't want that. He thought PG/hostel mein rahegi toh therell be no one to check on her. And then he met Shanky there and Shanky offered to let Naina stay with him. Matlab, I don't remember ekdum correctly because all this happened before Jenny came back to the show and I wasn't following it religiously then, but aisa hi kuch hua tha.

Ohhh. Okay makes sense. Like I said, S2 is just a bad memory, so I don't remember most of it. But this clears it up!
