Part 5
Both the families are happy after Veer & Naina accepted each other. Everyone congratulates Abeer & Meher for their engagement. The hosts serve dinner for all the guests. After the dinner, Veer said, "I am leaving now."
Raghav drops him at the hotel room & joins Naina's family.
Naina takes the cow for the walk. Raghav sees that. He said, "I have already told you that not a single animal should come before Veer."
Naina: Our relationship has a very good bonding whether it is between man & the beast or the owners & the employees. For building new relations, we do not break old relationships.
Raghav is amazed at her reply.
At home, Asha said, "Do you have any shame that you have forgotten the rules of this house? It seems that more than them, you are concerned about this relationship."
Kishorilal: Raghav is doing these for our good. He is playing a cupid or the directors role between the hero & the heroine."
He tells the children, "Don't make any mischief."
Naina's grandmother said, "If they make mischief, I will break their legs."
Raghav comes in. He said, "They are children. So obviously, they are bound to play. When you were of their age, were you quiet?"
Baldev laughs.
Raghav: No need to laugh. You will also become big. You guys might think of me as Veer's servant or mouthpiece, or chamcha or fork or his friend or brother, I would like to tell you all one that you won't get an alliance like Veer. Simple living, high thinking. He has got a class and is on his way with a hi-fi vehicle.
Veer comes but on a tractor as the tire of the car has got punctured. But he starts wheezing because of the dust allergy. Abeer and Meher said, "Here is your girl."
Naina's grandmother welcomes him. The family gives him the boiled and steam water mixed with Vicks so he gets relief from wheezing. Everyone starts their bhajan. Lots of guests chip in. Naina is dressing up as a bride.
Kishorilal introduces Veer & Raghav to others. All the elders bless Veer for his engagement.
Finally, Kishorilal introduces them to a cop. Veer touches his feet.
The cop said, "God bless you. If you want any criminal to be behind the bars, just one call away."
Raghav: Sure.
After he went forward, Veer remarked, "He is a funny cop."
One of the hosts tells Veer, "Kursi par baitiye."
Veer does not understand. Abeer translates it for him saying, "He means to tell you to sit on the chair."
Veer: No thanks.
Veer starts wheezing. Naina's grandmother, Chandrakala, is standing there. Veer touches the feet of the priest.
Naina's grandmother said, "From the time, he came to India, he is not keeping well. Uska nazar utaro."
The priest touches his hair with a peacock feather. Veer is puzzled. He asked, "What is all this?"
Raghav: Understand Yaar, this is a blessing for keeping you protected from the negative forces.
Veer: Bless Raghav as well.
The priest does the same for Raghav but he said, "I'm alright. Thank you."
Naina asks the children, "How do you find Veer?"
The children said, "He is a Prince."
Veer: By the way, where is Naina?
Raghav: She must be somewhere here. I will check.
He goes Asha & said, "Where is Naina?"
Asha: She is dressing up. She will come.
Naina comes. Raghav looks at her.
Asha: She is looking beautiful isn't it
Raghav: Not at all in Veer's eyes. He does not like the flower on the head or the jewelry. He wants simplicity. He is an American.
Asha: That is India's simplicity, my boy.
Raghav: Whatever it is, Veer does not like it.
He takes Naina to the dressing room and removes the jewelry.
The ladies bring her downstairs.
Naina asks Veer & his friends, "What will you guys have? Tea, coffee, or juice?"
Veer: I prefer tea.
Naina: What about others?
All others said, "We also want tea."
Naina: How many spoons of sugar do you want?
Veer: One spoon.
The other person said, "Two spoons."
Naina puts 2 spoons.
Veer: Put one more.
Naina puts one more.
Veer: Spill the entire sugar.
Naina spills the entire sugar in the cup.
Veer takes his glass. Naina gives the glass to his friend who said, "I prefer to have it without sugar."
Veer: You are very clever.
Abeer, Raghav, & Veer sleep.
Abeer: I love India.
Raghav: How you feel about Naina?
Veer: I have got a headache. I want to sleep.
Raghav: Fine, tell me how is she for me.
Veer: Oh shut up. I want to sleep now. Good night.
The next day,
Raghav: Naina will take the hot milk for Veer.
Asha agrees but other ladies are reluctant.
Veer is taking pictures from his mobile. He sees the snake & gets startled.
Naina comes in. She puts the milk on the table & joins her hands before the snake. The snake leaves the room.
Naina: Here, we don't consider the snake as an animal but we worship it as God. I have put the milk on the table. Have it & take rest for a while. Nothing will happen.
Veer to himself: Amazing.
The next day, Veer meets Naina at the terrace.
He said, "I want to meet you in private.
Naina: Where?
Veer: Behind the windmill.
Naina: I will ask my family & let you know.
Naina asks her aunt, "Can I meet Veer near the windmill?"
Her aunt gets wild. She said, "Ask your mother. After all, you guys are Americans."
Everyone in the house gathers.
Kishorilal: Why are you making such an issue? They have a right to meet each other so they can interact & know more about each other.
Abeer, Raghav, & Veer are in their room.
Veer: These Indians are very funny. When I asked Naina to meet me in the fields near the windmill, she said that she will ask her mom.
Raghav: Try to understand. As per the Indian culture, a guy & a girl do not meet alone before marriage. But I will try to do the setting where you & Naina can meet.
Raghav goes to Naina's parents & said, "To get married, it is necessary to understand each other & wherein the couple can fall for each other. It is the union of 2 hearts, minds, & souls. So I want to arrange the date."
Asha & Kishorilal agree.
