Adaaadaa...random surfing for some mindless retail therapy...Just checked on who is doing what ??! and I land an update !!
Both protagonists are sleepless, and note that you are too Nisha 😛
Why are you awake so late on a Saturday night and can we look forward to a marathon of sorts tomorrow as there are so many questions flying around in the head which only a bunch of updates from your side can clarify 😉

Now that Iam done with 'vennai veikaradu ' ( buttering up ) Good night !!

Sharanbir Narang. What's in this deal for the old pop. Gotta give it to him. The old pop is a scudge sticking chapel to the bottom of the pan refusing to get scraped off.Relentless , wily, smug , cocky Alpha male in his pursuit.
He dangles the carrot to bait the big fish ...his DIL Mandira by throwing 'trying to restablish connections' with the scion all the while keeping his cards close to his Vest buttons but little does he know that he won't be able to get across to the small fish thru the big fish as the small fish is slippery, and somehow is drawn back wanting to float in the muddy waters of Ullal.

Trisha sees him pass in a white corolla car in front of the restaurant in ullal. She is shocked recognizing him and still sends an email to a generic email ID.
What were you thinking Trisha Shanbag???? Do you even know what's going to hit you? It's time to smell the coffee!!

But the most interesting thing for me in the updates last night was this... Ashvin Narang's EQUATION With Prakash shanbag , in the past and in the FUTURE !!!!! Given their history where he believes the senior is responsible for the mess... are we treading a simalar equation a la Sosy. Hope not. I dread that!!!

Nisha, Absolutely loved this piece...

"The house desperately needed repairs and renewal, it was solid and old but... even the lamp shades were over 60 years old. The wiring was exposed on a wooden frame all around

There was a small hall walkway after the front verandah, and then a big square room, on both sides of the big square center room was a bedroom. She used one her Dad used the other and then a kitchen in the back, and a store room that held some restaurant supplies and then 5 steps led to the backyard with a 100 year old jackfruit tree, an old fruitless mango tree a wood shed, and two cement water tanks."

I was transported to the Konkan backdrop - house set in the coconut/palm tree settings with a battered old red roof on a cloudy, monsoon evening. I can vividly picturize the scene. Brilliant!

Reading this made me feel so nostalgic about my native ancestral house - the thoons (pillars) in the living room, the huge doors which needed atleast two of us (in cousin gang) to open, the mutham open to the sky where we used to play with the water in the tank and fool around when it rains, the open toilet (which i dreaded) that was set way back behind the mattu thozhuvam (cattle shed). I would hang on my chithi's shoulder
trying to get a peek of the peacock and peahens would fly in the morning behind the mattu thozhuvam !!

Thank you Nisha ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yes it was brilliantly captured. On a couple of occasions during summer holidays I have been to similar homes of a couple of relatives down south . We never paid too much attention to the thotti tank inside the house in the area open to sky isn't it? Even the jackfruit trees and the mango, cocunut trees where they used to get somebody to get the tender cocunut water out of it fresh. Never thought too much of it then. We had these fruits in the bk yard . Had too much fun just like that without having to spend a dime. Free fun. Our parents really had it easy with us on that count I tell you 😆

Future Potential

"The longer you fight him the more he is going to push you. You know that" Chirag ogled at a leggy lass at Bangalore's busy pub

"I didnt go to meet her like he wanted me to that went fine"Ashvin's neatly parted hair was now tousled at the end of the day.

"For how long dude?"

"He will get it sooner or later"

"You start dating no? He will back off then" Chirag suggested

"Or... umm.. get married" he said softly

"You have it backwards, son!!! First comes dating then comes shaadi" Chirag laughed out loud

Ashvin did not respond

"I worry for my Mom" he said quietly

Chirag squeezed his limp hand on the bar

"I am sorry man"

"After Dad..." Ashvin was quiet

"To woh jo kehte hain woh kar de boss"

"Really now?"

Chirag looked startled when he stared a girl in blue denim skirt and a white blouse, she had a bit longer hair

"Umm.. doesnt she?" he mumbled, self consciously

"No she does not look like Trisha Shanbag" Ashvin said impolitely

He could pick that hair out blindfolded, and those hands

"Ha..." "You remember the name"

"Ofcourse I have to, you have too many to remember" Ashvin mocked

"You are just pissed because I went out of my way to be nice to a small town girl"

"No I am not pissed you hit on a small town girl"

"She was HOTT." Chirag said longingly "Did you shake hand with her dude? Was it the softest thing you ever touched or what?" Chirag was startled

Ashvin looked in a different direction hoping his friend would stop

"Umm.. unless she is soft-ER elsewhere" chirag cracked himself up, his eyes big like saucers as he wondered what a unclothed Trisha might look like

"And that does not help me deal with the old man"

"it helps me a lottt" he was gasping for air

"Would you like to order?" the bartender offered pushing a menu

"can u eat?" he asked chirag

"chal" he nodded reluctantly

they ordered their burgers and fries

"We closed three deals this month, so its not so bad" chirag reminded him

"wait until we are told it should have been 30"

"your old man likes to keep you on the edge, hes probably secretly delighted franchising is going well"

"i should just screw it up so it will be a good payback for having me manage the least impressive business in his portfolio"

"you wont do that"

"i want to... some times"
"you are not wired that way, ive dated over 15 women in the last 10 years, youve dated? two?"

"thats not to say that i cant wilfully screw up the company or more recently the matrimonial job i am assigned to do"

"u care too much for your Dad to do that" chirag said somberly

"that didnt affect the old man one bit, he is still wheelin and dealin, courting business leaders and potential partners"

"We all deal with loss differently. its his way, the man is soaked in his work for 60 years what do you expect?" chirag was objective

"some freaking freedom? for a start? maybe?" ashvin was furious

"he rewards his loyal supporters, aka your cousins" chirag reminded him

"the franchising shit is not large enough to burn a hole in his pocket if i threw it all away.
i am not influential or important enough that he would be hurt if i abandoned it and walked away from it all" ashvin's feelings of resentment deepened as he spoke aloud

"that brings us to the conclusion of this whole topic, go meet the goddamn girl dude"

"unless i meet someone of my own?" he said blandly

chirag looked at him curiously

"who? that one girl we met a month ago at that Mysore trip?" he asked

"Uh" ashvin didnt agree or disagree

"this is a waste of time dude. he is too big and powerful and you are biologically related to him. no use plotting long elaborate reparations"

"Who said I wanted to hurt him" ashvin was gleeful at the very idea.

Chirag paid the tab and the men walked out into the cool 30C Bangalore night

"Chal mere saath weekend on that Andamans trip, you can get yourself 3, 6, 9 GFs instantly" he urged

Good idea" Ashvin mocked in response.

He went back up to his apartment, and logged on to his computer stretching out on the luxurious white couch.
The place was posh but functional
With sparse furniture and decor

He worked for a couple hours...

Setting up yet another prospective franchisee workshop two weeks from tonight

He sent out invitations to all those new ones he had met in the last month

He did things the business development marketing team would typically do

He checked his email one last time

Trisha Shanbag had responded to the offer of loans

He wrote to her from her work ID directly

"While we dont routinely fund ailing restaurants, we sometimes make an exception based on the
physical location and and future customer potential. Since your location is at the desirable Ullal Beach and the foot
traffic is expected to increase significantly because of Karnataka Government's investment in promoting tourism, we believe your restaurant could be an expection"

He finished up and hit send

He layback on the couch, her visual of crossing the street wearing the peach georgette appeared...
