"Hello Di," he said, raising the gadget to his ears, hoping that she had not bought the hotel management to report her about them. He sincerely prayed that his sister would not stoop to that level.

"Don't hello me, Chotte. Were you trying to fool us? You thought that you will reside in a hotel so we will not be aware of anything that happens?" she questioned furiously.

Arnav would have been amused to sense the fury lining her tone when she was the one demanding forbidden relations and promises if he was not the one on the receiving edge of her demands.

His creased forehead and frowned brows revealed his turmoil and confusion to the one sharing his room and situation. She wondered the content of the message he had heard that resulted in such worried expressions on the ever nonchalant Arnav Singh Raizada's face.

Arnav, on the other hand, decided to use Anjali's weapon on her. The one weapon of her she never ceases to use against him. He asked himself if it would be as effective against her as it was always against him. He fervently anticipated his plan to bear fruit lest he knew that he would forced to prioritize between things he would not dream of choosing.

"Whatever made you think so, Di. Why would I do that? Don't you trust your brother?" he questioned, the hurt underlying his tone convincing even Khushi standing in front of him.

"Of course I do, Chotte," the answer came quickly making Arnav let the breath he was unconsciously holding out.

"I was only curious because it seemed so against your typical personality to listen to anyone so easily and what I saw..," he heard a sharp gasp from the other side, confirming his suspicions,"I mean from childhood did not help much."

"You hurt me, Di. Anyways, we will talk about it tomorrow. Good night!" he said, before disconnecting the call without waiting for his sister to answer him. Destiny had the worst ways to play with one's emotions. Just as you seek a certain thing, it delivers the stark opposite to you, to enjoy your despair and agony and Arnav learned it through first-hand experience.

But he was not the one to surrender to the destiny. If destiny had plans for him, he knew how to change them, how to manipulate them. He was not successful businessman without having a fiber of shrewdness and cunning wit in him.

Arnav's silence confused her more than his words over the phone. She had not meant to eavesdrop but his shock and confusion only fueled her curiosity as she wondered if the conversation was in anyway linked to the supposed night between her and the man speaking. Before she could decide on asking him about the conversation, Arnav's determined and stoic face made her go blank.

Arnav looked straight into her eyes in a way that rattled her more than anything ever did. He stepped towards in calculative steps which defined passion which resonated with the intensity in his eyes.

With their breaths fanning each others' faces, they stood delving into the pools of each other. While one had questions, other had the answers.

In a swift move, Arnav scooped Khushi into his arms, taking her by surprise and moved towards the bed, looking into her puzzled eyes. She had expected his touch to be repulsive but his touch was rather soothing and serene. It made her heart feel at peace and at home. Despite the confusion lacing her thoughts, she felt oddly at tranquility looking into the nonchalant eyes of the one holding her, the one assuring her that nothing would go wrong.

He gently placed her against the soft bed and began leaning towards her as one of his hands turned the lights off. The click of the switch broke the momentary reverie in which Khushi found herself encapsulated and lost. She quickly realized the position they were in and her hands automatically rushed to create space between her body and his.

"Mr.Rai.." she began only to be sushed by the man hovering over her. The moonlight entering the room reflected through his eyes and highlighted his brown ambers, pleading her to trust him.

He leaned towards her further till his lips almost brushed her ears and he whispered,

"There is CCTV camera in this room. Di is keeping a watch over us. Though I think the microphone of the camera does not work, it is preferable to stay quiet. Just sleep. Just listen to me once, Khushi."

The husky whisper made her nod in acceptance while he slowly moved away from and took the bed beside her. She had grown valuing her family above everything, and at times she had accepted the wrongs she had done. She might have been strong but her weakness was always her family and to see a man whose morals stood so strong even against the firm wishes of his family, she felt admiration rise through her in leaps and bounds.

He had reinstated her confidence by proving that a crime may not be a crime if it is done to protect someone. While others have told her that a crime is a crime, she always believed that there is no true boundary between good and bad. She saw herself in him. So similar yet so different. She felt the pull of mystery push her towards him. It was like a tug she could hardly resist. It felt like it was meant to be.

While newfound admiration for the man beside her kept her busy, respect for the woman whose self-respect stood as the first priority irrespective of the situation seemed to steal his thoughts. Several times in his career he had seen women trying to exploit him for the sake of fame, money and power and beside him lay a woman who refused to exploit a privilege that was offered to her because she did not earn it herself. She did not care for her comfort, neither did she give a thought about her pain, all that mattered to her was her self-respect and her family.

Seeing his Di to whom rejection did not matter and the wishes of her family did not matter made his belief in the strength of character waver but she refused to let that flame get extinguished. She had not just reignited a flame that was about to burn out but had ignited something that laid dormant for years.

That night two strangers bound by the will of Destiny, more similar than they would ever realize and more different than they would ever know, lay in the same bed yet far away, lost in their newfound emotions, sleep light years away from their eyes.
