@ Shruthi, I am aware of that practice. But the worst thing out of that the girls are not dumped on their own after usage (holidaying) but those will be sold to brothel where those young girls will have to earn for the owner the money they have spent on them with interest. The gulf people choose such young girls as they presume that xxx with young girls (who are yet to attain puberty) will cure some of their diseases. And some people will take them to their country and gift them to their business associates (like the way we gift chocolates and perfume). Some will use them as tool to make deals. And most of these girls are students and if one really looks into the attendance register, they can find out the sudden missing in action names. This is still in practice.

@Jaya yes I have heard that also 🤢. yes it is still in practice. Actually a case happened in kerala on the issue some 3 years back which was shown in Savdhaan india also. One orphanage was completely closed. Case I guess is in high court now. The then government tried to circumvent what happened by issuing a circular telling marriagble age of girls in Muslim community can be 16, which created huge uproar in the media finally the circular had to be withdrawn.

@ Shruthi, it is not just in Muslim community (though it is high as compared to others) alone. You will be shocked to know what happens in some villages of Andra (especially down hill of Tirupati). Though I had pushed this to background of my thought process and seized it for a some time, ever since I read about Ashram lady here, it surfaced back and hurting me like a thorn.

There is a community where they treat the girl child pathetic condition. I had read some articles and interviews also. I had read that in Femina some years back but I have heard this practice is still very much alive. there are some cases where the girl child's fate will be written even before she is born. This female who narrated her story was a victim to that practice. Here goes the gist of the story. The head of the family an old man aged 75 years was sick and his wife prayed to the god that if her husband become well, she will donate the girl child born in the family to God and she (the unborn girl child) will be the Tirudasi and will serve the God. (This is similar to devadasi system). And when she attained the puberty, the girl was taken to the temple and after pooja, she was asked to stay in the temple and serve the God and not to refuse the God anything and if she refuses the God, then her family will be cursed. The temple priest was the one (who was as old as her grand father) whole stole her virginity.

There are many such cases I have come to know about during my tenure with CII & Social welfare department as part of community service.

The other day, I so felt like I will write all those and post it, so that the girls are aware of social stigma.
