Part 22

She pulled back from the hug and looked at him with tears in eyes.

Arnav: Khushi kya hua?

Khushi: Shyam. He had come here Arnav and see this .

She passed him the file which Shyam had signed. Arnav checked the papers thoroughly and was really surprised to find Shyam returning all his Di's property back.

Khushi: He is gone Arnav. He left Lucknow and now I dont know where he has gone?

Arnav was realising what must have happened . He didnt wanted the servants to be aware of their family issues hence took her inside .He made her sit on their bed and asked her to tell everything clearly what had happened . She told him about Shyam's guilt and how he handed her the papers because he didnt had the courage to face Anjali or anyone else in this house. Khushi's words made one thing clear that Shyam really seemed to have changed a bit otherwise he would never do something so big. But can he now be trusted ? And even if they do what guarantee that he will not repeat his mistakes again? And most importantly the Divorce of his Di and Shyam was still in progress.

Almost 2 more hours passed that Khushi was still sitting on the bed thinking what should be done .She didnt wanted to go against this family and accept her brother's apology but she couldnt ignore the pain within her knowing her Brother Shyam was out somewhere on his own having nothing with him.

Arnav passed her the glass of water but she didnt take it . Her tears were unstoppable tonight and Arnav was unable to bear it because he simply could not see his wife crying so much .He sat beside her passing her the glass again.

Arnav: Khushi please dont hurt yourself. You havnt eaten anything from last past few hours. Why are you straining your health?

Khushi: I cant Arnav. I am worried for Bhaiyaa. I am not forgetting what he did with this family but neither can I forget the repentance and guilt in his eyes. I hope he is not going to hurt himself. Where will he be? Where will he stay?

Arnav : Sssh.

He cupped her face in his hands , stroking her cheeks with his thumbs, easing off her anxiety to know about her brother. She placed her hands above his looking in his eyes , taking in the warmth he provided her by their closeness.

Arnav: Do you trust me Khushi?

She noded weakly.

Arnav: Toh main sab theek kar dunga. Tum aur di meri sabse badi taaqat ho aur main kabhi bhi tum dono ko aise haal mein nahi dekh sakta. (Then I will make everything fine. You and Di are my strength . I cant see you both in this condition)

Khushi knew his Di was his weakness but when did she get added in that list?

Arnav: I will find Shyam wherever he is . Just trust me on that. Kuch nahi hoga Shyam ko.

Khushi: Why ? You hate him. He did so much bad for your Di and you still wish to find him. Why Arnav?

Arnav: Because Shyam is the weakness of the two most important people in my life

Khushi was impressed with his thoughts.

Arnav: I cant bear you both worrying for him and me enjoying my hatred for that same man. I will do what is possible from my end, I promise .

She didnt needed any further assurance. What he said was more than enough .Today for the first time she felt proud of being his wife. This man very well knew how to keep his loved ones happy. Arnav dialed Aman from his number and gave him orders to find Whereabouts of Shyam Gupta.

None of them could know that their talks were overheard by Anjali standing at the door. She was back from Temple and wanted to give Prasad to her Bhai and Bhabhi but when she came here she heard the fact that Shyam had visited their home and he returned all her property and left somewhere. She was scared for him too just like Khushi was. Though that man gave her so much pain all these years, though she was pretending to be strong before her family showing them that she will handle her life without her husband, she still could not hide her fears and the worry she had for him. She walked away from that room and went to the little Mandir beside the drawing room. She joined her hands praying to Devi Maiyaa to help Shyam wherever he is. She knew forgiving him for his deeds was impossible but she cannot stop herself from praying for her husband.

Almost 2 weeks passed, but there was no information about Shyam. Anjali never asked Arnav directly though Arnav had told her everything about Shyam returning the legal papers of property and leaving Lucknow city. Khushi was noticing Arnav's efforts in finding Shyam. Day and night all he did was tracking his sources and asking them to keep finding about Shyam. Khushi was very happy that forgetting all odds Arnav was so much helping her in finding her brother. She had no idea what will happen once shyam's whereabouts are found. She just wanted to see her brother and confirm that he was fine.

The lawyer came Shantivan the next day for discussing the matter of Divorce. Anjali, Arnav and Khushi were all siting before him. The Lawyer handed Arnav the Final Legal papers of this Divorce which already had Shyam's signatures.

Arnav: He signed them? When? We are looking for him from past 2 weeks.

Lawyer: His lawyer got these papers to me and told me that Shyam Gupta signed all the necessary documents before he left Lucknow. The Lawyer fees was also paid in full and it seems after the Divorce is legalised, Shyam has asked his Lawyer to keep all the papers with him only.Someday he will collect it from him.

Anjali hide her tears as she didnt wanted to feel weak. Khushi pressed Anjali's hand making her feel better.

Arnav: Thats strange. Seems like he is just repenting on every deed of his and hence trying all his ways to set things back on track.

Lawyer: Yes Mr Raizada. But this is what we wanted. Now that he signed all the papers we only need Anjali Maam's signatures on it and then we will submit this to the court for final stamp. This may take a month more .

Arnav turned to Anjali to see what her reaction was. She was shiverring . Arnav quickly caught her from the side.

Arnav: Di are you okay?

Anjali: Am I doing right Chotte? Have I made a correct decision of getting seperated?

Arnav: Di why are you asking me this? I dont want you to find your answers in our advices. We all want you to decide what you want.

Khushi: Haan Di. None of us can advise you better than your own heart. Dont overlook any sins done by Shyam bhai but if you need time to decide then none of us will force you ever. We accept whatever your decision will be .

Anjali thought for some minutes and then saw the Lawyer.

Anjali: I will need some time to think on this Mr Roy.

Lawyer: No problem Madam. Once you decide just let me know.I will get the papers back.

LAwyer left and Arnav and Khushi turned to see Anjali again. She was touching her 6 months belly and thinking something. Arnav asked Khushi to take Anjali back in the room. He knew it was hard for his Di to decide about the Divorce formalities in this condition when her husband was lost somewhere and there was no information about him. But he wanted things to sort out before her delivery because she will be more hurt later.

Weeks continued passing and Khushi was getting heavily attracted to her husband Arnav who wasnt doing anything strange or new to impress her. After losing his last deal of woeing his wife in 7 days ,Arnav never tried any ways to flirt with Khushi. But even without that Arnav was making a way to her heart. His simplicty, his way of sorting their family issues, his comfort when she needed him the most, his love for his Di, everything was drawing Khushi by her heart and soul towards Arnav and she wanted to finally show some love from her end to him too. Till now she had always fulfilled her responsibilities as a bahu of this house, as a sister in law to Anjali but today she wished to do something being Arnav Singh Raizada's wife.

It was night and she had got his call not to be awake for him too long . She had cooked his favourite food tonight and ironically he didnt come home for Dinner. She had wore a beautiful Saree which she thought would be liked by him and she purposely chose the red colour to add the topping to her surprise. She had arranged their Food at the Poolside and had kept some candles on that table ready so that when he comes, she will have a candle light dinner with him in their bedroom poolside . Everything was arranged but there was no news of him coming back home. She dozed off for sometime and suddenly the sound of the door woke her up . He had finally come and looked very tired. Seeing her sitting on the floor, leaning back on bed and so sleepy , he was not happy.

Arnav: Khushi you should have slept

She got up from the floor and thats when he saw her in the Saree properly. She seemed to be smiling at him and her gestures proved she was upto some surprise .

Khushi: Get changed, I will arrange the food by then

Arnav: Was there any function today at home? I mean its been long seeing you in Sarees. You should have changed . Its too heavy for you.

Khushi : You didnt like it?

Arnav: No I didnt mean that. I want you to be comfortable. Next time dont wait for me so long. I can serve the food myself.

He kept his laptop bag and got inside the bathroom to change. She didnt receive any good response on her saree which spoiled her mood a bit . He came at the poolside and once again was surprised seeing the little arrangement. She had served the food and lighted the candles.

Arnav: Is it really some special occassion for a candle light dinner ?And dont tell me you were hungry till now. Khushi what if I would have been more late than this? Next time eat early.

Khushi: A wife likes doing such things for her husband.

Her words were pleasing but he didnt fall for them so easily.

Arnav : I know a wife likes doing such things but lets not forget you havnt accepted me as your husband. You dont even consider this marriage a proper one. And its not your mistake . The way we got married and then the way I tortured you in this house in the initial days created this distance between us. So just dont do so many things for a man like me. I dont feel worth it.

His words pricked her very much and she felt as if he was saying all this purposely. She sat quietly opposite to him and started having the food. There was complete silence like usual as they hardly talked while dinner together. But today the sound of the cuttlery was so annoying. She wanted to know from him how his day was, what he did and infact wanted him to praise her as a wife.

Arnav : The food is nice.

He smiled looking at her and continued eating. She was little more angry . He could praise the food. Thats all? The time passed and the food was done. He helped her arrnage back the plates and keep them back in the Kitchen though she asked him not to do it. He never allowed her to do such things alone if it was really late.

Arnav: You work the whole day Khushi, cant I do this much? Its fine.

She liked this caring side of his but today she needed more than that. She felt as if her decision of not giving him a husband right over her had created these distance between them that now even when she was giving him a green signal that she wanted to start a proper married life with him, he never understood or probably pretending not to understand.
