Special Message: A Writer is incomplete without his/her fellow readers. So I thank you all for sincerely waiting and understanding my present situation. I hope I can keep you all happy with my work. So here it is!! Finally!!

Randhir did not come to work the next day. Sanyukta was anxious to see him. And nervous. She paced up and down the corridor of his office hoping that the lift would open and he would emerge. But that did not happen. She even went all the way down to the receptionist to ask her if Randhir had come or not, in case she missed him.
"No ma'am",she said. "Sir called in sick today. He will take a two-day' leave from office".
"Thank you", said Sanyukta and went upto her floor. She was devastated.
Everyone was talking about the party. Whenever she thought about it, the only thing that came across her mind was how it ended for her and Randhir. After they broke off from the kiss, Randhir went away immediately. Sanyukta followed him and called after him. But he did not stop. He got inside his car and just drove away. She called him immediately but all the calls went to his voicemail. There were no replies. She wanted to know why. She was desperate.
Now that they did not have the Smart House project to work together on, they were given individual work. Sanyukta went to her office and sat down with the heap of files that was delivered by the peon. She saw that they were related to another project. Jiggy was suspended and Parth was gone. She had no one to talk to. Everyone in this office seemed not to care about her. But that never really bothered her. Sanyukta was used to being alone all her life. She had very limited friends in Shimla. All the girls she grew up with always fantasized about marriage and the perfect prince charming. But Sanyukta, from a very young age was fascinated by the cars that were made in her father's company and had always dreamt of being able to make them herself. While all the girls were busy getting their hair trimmed every month, manicures and pedicures, facials and making sure they were not tanned during the summer, she went to the library quietly in the evening and borrowed books on mechanics and logistics. She knew that her father would be furious if he ever found out that his daughter was dreaming like a man.
Sanyukta worked in a call centre after giving her board exams. And whatever she earned, she saved so that she would be able to pay for the entrance examinations. It was not an easy task. She had lied to her family when she went to sit for AIEEE, saying that she was going to the spa. She was so happy to get the perfect score. But ofcourse it had consequences. She had to choose between her father and her dream. And she chose the latter. She never told Kaustuki any of this, atleast in details. The only person who knew this much was Randhir, while he was still a stranger to her.
Randhir did not sleep well last night. He lay on his back on the bed and just stared at the ceiling. His mind kept replaying the moment when he grabbed Sanyukta and did the inevitable. He was angry. He was scared. He was anxious. Sanyukta had left many messages on his phone. But he did not have the guts to return any of them. All his life, he tried staying away from women. And he never had a problem doing so. But then, he met Sanyukta. He tried resisting her. He just did. No one would say he did not. But for the first time in life, he failed. He was not used to failure. But he had to embrace this fact. He admitted, he hated seeing her with Parth. He may be a good guy with a lot of talent but when it came to Sanyukta, he could not tolerate his presence. A part of Randhir really wished he could take back the kiss. And another part was glad it happened.
Just then, his phone vibrated a little and stopped. He took it and checked to see that he had received an e-mail. He opened his laptop and logged in to his account. But then he stopped. The unread message in his inbox was from Renuka Sanyal. A dark and demented expression gloomed over his face and he just stared at the mail. There was no subject to the mail so he did not know what this was about. He immediately retired to his bed. And this time, he was angry at Sanyukta. He knew for sure that kiss was a huge mistake. He had to clear the air with her and let her know that nothing can happen between them. Not anymore. The entire even t was a mistake. But he did not know how. And how would she react to it? They kissed out of a sudden impulse. Did she even want it to happen? Or was her mind made up for Parth?
His phone rang. Randhir picked it up from the bed side and saw that it was his father calling.
"Yes dad", he said.
"Arrey. You were supposed to call me yesterday after the inauguration ceremony. They showed you on the news yesterday, do you know?" said Randhir's father in a delight.
"Thanks dad. I am sure they did."
"What is wrong? I am sensing that something is bothering you. Are you busy? Do I call you later?"
"Nahi dad. I haven't gone to the office today. I took a leave".
"Why? Are you alright? Hangover?"
"Sort of..."
"Arrey khul ke bolo. I need to know what happened to my son."
Randhir thought of telling his father everything about what had happened. But he decided not to. Atleast not in full detail.
"Well, there is this co-worker. Her name is..."
"Her? It is a girl. Ek ladki ke liye you are wasting your time being this upset?" roared his father.
"Arrey nahi dad...it's not that. It is just that..."
"Nothing. Let me tell you something son, women are nothing. They are just there one minute holding your hand and making you feel like a million bucks and the next moment they are after someone who is wealthier and more successful. "
Randhir was silent. He did not reply.
"Naam kya hain?" his father asked.
"Sanyukta", replied Randhir quietly.
"What a name. Sanyukta",said his father. "Son, just forget about this crap and move one. You have to make a name for yourself, and one that does not involve your mother. I mean...do you really want to be called as Renuka Sanyal's son for the rest of your life?"
This made Randhir very angry. All his life he wanted to rub his mother's name off his life and maybe that is why he had stayed away from all the distractions. But now, when he was finally giving in, he was glad that his father was there to bring him back to the right path.
Sanyukta was working on another project in her office. There were tones of things that needed to be done that week. She had finally cleared her mind from last night. Parth had called her a few minutes ago and told her that he was interested in having dinner with her that night. At first she was hesitant, learning about Parth being her mysterious fianc from her mother just the day before. But she tried o maintain a work relationship, ironically they did not work together anymore.
"I'll pick you up at 7pm", he had said.
Sanyukta liked Parth's company. They had many things in common and they were quick to bond. Even though she thought of Randhir then and now, she decided to bunk last night and focus on her work and later dinner with Parth.
Parth had decided on the restaurant. Earlier on, Sanyukta had mentioned that she loved eating Chinese food, classic Chinese. Therefore, Parth recommended this new Chinese restaurant that had opened at Chadni Chowk and was getting rave reviews for its delicacies. He had texted Sanyukta the address in case he was late and could not pick her up.
Sanyukta arrived at the place. It was decorated beautifully and the lighting was subtle. Not too bright not too dark. Sanyukta looked around for Parth. He obviously had not reached. He went over to the receptionist and asked him, "Reservation at 7pm...Parth Kashyap?"
The receptionist checked his log book and smiled, "Yes. Table for two at the rooftop. Please follow me madam."
Sanyukta followed the receptionist upto the rooftop. The setting was beautiful. The entire rooftop was decorated with little Chinese lamps and orchids. There were sofas surrounding tables and the the cool wind made the place very desirable. Violet lamps were used for lighting. The receptionist led Sanyukta to her table.
Sanyukta took her seat and looked around. The rooftop was filled with couples on romantic dates. She was glad that she and Parth were there as friends. It would be so wonderful to catch up with things after they were done working with each other. After a few minutes, Parth showed up and waved at Sanyukta. She got up and they exchanged a casual hug.
"Nice place na?" asked Parth.
"Very", smiled Sanyukta. "But is this place in your budget?"
"Special occasions. Had to compromise a new pair of jeans",said Parth and they laughed out loud.
"Special?" asked Snayukta.
"Arrey, we completed a tough project successfully. Celebration toh banta hi hain na?"
"But we did celebrate, yesterday."
"That was with everyone, this one is for us. For our hard work."
Sanyukta smiled. Parth was so down to earth,in spite of the fact that he worked for one of the major construction companies in the country. She compared him with her arrogant and shrewd brother.
The waiter came in with two menu cards. "What do you want to order?" asked Parth.
"I'll have what you are having",replied Sanyukta,.
"C'mon Sanyukta!" said Parth. "Stop being so formal with me. Just speak your mind. We are friends remember?"
Sanyukta smiled and looked at the menu again.
The duo had a wonderful evening. Parth told Sanyukta about the new metro project that Divergent is currently working on. He said that the Chief Minister of Delhi was very happy with the overwhelming response of The Smart House Project and was interested to see how the metro project would turn out to be. Sanyukta told Parth about the pile of files that were sent to her by Vardhan sir and how she absolutely hated paperwork. "I always wanted practical field work. You know, like when we were working on the Smart House, we actually got to do stuff, you know what I'm saying? And now, writing bunch of codes and going through designs...just not my thing."
"tum bilkul meri jaise ho",said Parth. "Never liked paperwork. Building things...its a different ball game altogether."
"So, how are you finding Delhi?"
"I haven't seen anything yet. You promised to show me around but you did not keep that promise."
"Arrey! When did I tell you that? I myself am so new to the city and you want me to be the tour guide?"
"But you have been in the city longer than me na?"
"That's not fair!"
They were really enjoying themselves. The waiter came in. "Sir,would you like another round of wine?"
"We already had a whole bottle Parth. I don't think we should drink this much. Plus, you'll be driving, said Sanyukta.
Parth told the waiter that they were done and to bring the bill.
"So, fin any hot guy in Delhi?" asked Parth.
Sanyukta's heart missed a beat. She swallowed and looked at Parth.
"Kya hua?" asked Parth seeing that Sanyukta was completely lost.
"Nahi. No one, yet!" she replied and winked slightly.
"Me neither."
"How come? I mean look at you, you are tall, well-built and have this amazing job. How come you haven't met the right person yet?" asked a curious Sanyukta.
"I can ask you the same thing Sanyukta. You are really beautiful. How come no guy has ever approached you?"
Sanyukta looked down at her empty plate. She immediately thought of Randhir. How he just kissed her and ran, with no explanation and no replies to her calls. Is this really the reality that people talk about all the time? "Well, I guess I am not so lucky in love",she replied softly.
Parth reached out and held her hand. "Don't say things like that Sanyukta. I am sure that there is someone who is out there waiting for you. Just...keep looking."
They were so busy talking that they completely lost track of time. If Kaustuki had not called Sanyukta asking her where she was, Sanyukta and Parth would have stayed t the restaurant until the owners would come in and throw them out.
"Yeah yeah, I'm coming. Acha only bread toh? Ok I'll get it on my way", Sanyukta told Kaustuki over the phone and hung up.
"Let me guess, you have to go?" asked Parth.
"I am so sorry Parth. But its 10pm and I have to get going. But I absolutely enjoyed myself today. Thank you so much".
"Acha just let me drop you off at your place", requested Parth to which Sanyukta agreed.
They got out of the restaurant and saw a big grocery shop. As per Kaustuki's instruction, Sanyukta bought 2 pounds of brown bread. "She is just so health-conscious".
"We need to get a cab", said Parth. They saw a taxi stand nearby and started walking towards it.
"Once again, thank you so much Parth for this amazing evening. After a hectic day at work, its nice to get out a little and relax."
"Hey, if anyday you feel like having such dinners, you know...just send a text and I'll make the arrangements."
"Then you'll have to compromise on your entire wardrobe, not just a pair of jeans?" laughed Sanyukta.
Then all of a sudden, somehow, Parth grabbed and kissed her. Sanyukta was shocked and immediately pushed him away.
"Parth what are you doing?" asked a shocked Sanyukta.
"I am sorry, I just thought that is what you were implying..."
"I was not implying anything Parth. How can you even say that?"
"Maybe I had a little too much to drink. I a so sorry Sanyukta..." and saying this he came closer to her. Sanyukta stopped him. "Parth, relax",she said.
"Sanyukta", said Parth softly. "I don't understand the problem. You are not seeing anyone at the moment, I am not seeing anyone. We are really good friends. We don't' work together. So what's stopping us?"
Sanyukta was horrified with what Parth had just said. "Just because I am not seeing anyone at the moment does not mean I am available."
"So are you interested in anyone?" asked a curious Parth.
Sanyukta froze. Obviously she wasn't going to tell Parth, a drunk Parth what had happened between her and Randhir the other night.
"You know what Parth",said Sanyukta. "Maybe we should just go home. You take a separate cab and I'll take another cab. Go home and get some sleep. You really need it." And saying this, Sanyukta boarded a taxi on her won and drove away without saying good-bye to Parth, who just stood there, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
He watched Sanyukta's taxi slowly disappear into the darkness. He was confused and disappointed. But mostly angry, at himself. He looked around. Then he took out his cell phone and made a call.
"Hello, Vidushee? Its me Parth. Are you available now?"
