Chapter 48

Mayank concealed his uneasiness as he clutched the knocker and pushed it hard to open the door.He was anxious to meet him.He tasted the bitter taste as to recall him.

Mayank's day had started with this piece of news that The owner of SS company had agreed to meet with him, the same mysterious person who was keen to destroy his credibility and had wanted to snatch his company from him.

As he stepped into the large room, his gaze fell on the man standing, looking out the window, his backed was at him.

"you took long to come here" He whirled around and Mayank eyes widened as the person faced him.

"Sam Shergill" He exclaimed

"I must say you have a good memory" His laughter roared in the air and Mayank clenched his teeth. So, it was he. How did it take him too long to reach to this person? Mayank let out the bitter gasp.

"I'm thinking why I didn't recognize you when you were so obvious in our last meeting"

Mayank gave him a sharp look, bit out the words. Sam suppressed a mocking laugh before recalling their last meeting, in the party where he had tried to get into the conversation with Mayank and when he had talked about his relation with Nandish Mehra, Mayank had given him a sharp reply.

"you were so rude then, Mayank Sharma" Sam took a drag on his cigarette, giving another mocking glance and Mayank stepped closer to him, stood still and then gave him an intent, look that was too serious, too dangerous to ignore and Sam startled.

"what do you want of me?"

It wasn't a just question but hidden threat too, and Sam threw down his cigarette and ground it out beneath his shoe and crushed it.And then tilted up his chin, took a step closer to him and stared back at him, with eyes flashing like burning coal.

"I want the thing you can't live without"

It took him a second to understand what he is talking about and when his words penetrated in him, burned him all over.

"you bast*****" Lashing out his arm, he caught Sam by the shoulder, smacked his face, nearly knocking him off his feet.Sam felt the sharp pain on his face and breathed out but before he could compose himself, Another punched fell on his face.

"I'll kill you if you even think of my wife.Bastr***, I'll kill you"Mayank's eyes blazed with anger, and despite the grip Mayank had on him, Sam's gaze was steady and disconcertingly confident.

"I'll do what I say"

"and I'll kill you" Mayank swore an oath beneath his breath and pushed back him hard, Sam crushed with the chair, stumbling he clutched the corner of the table and stabled his composure.

Mayank clenched his teeth, held his breath before speaking out, "Stay away from us.i swear I won't take a moment to cut you into pieces if you tried to harm my wife"

Giving him a last hard glance Mayank slipped out the room, slipped out from that place before he could lose his temper and kill that bastr*** at that spot.

He sucked in fresh air as he stood beside his car.His pulse was still beating fast, his mind was spinning and his all body was shivering badly.

Swallowing hard, he took deep breaths to calm his nerves.

Sam sucked in a breath and tasted the blood, another drop trickled to his lips and he wiped it with his hand.The shaking of his body began to ease but the pain spun his head.Mayank had beaten up him badly.His heart was hammering. He drew in a breath and steeled himself.

"I'll see you, Mayank Sharma."

He grabbed his cell and dialed an unknown number and spoke,"meet me today,I've an important task for you"

He clenched his teeth and threw away the cell.

"Now, I'll see who kill whom"His mocked laughter filled into the empty room.

For an instant, Mayank stood frozen just watched her the woman of his life.He had never thought he would love her someday when he had forced her to marry him for revenge. His heart lurched with pain, he had always lost the people whom he loved. Now, when he thought to start his life with Nupur forgetting his past, someone wanted to snatch his happiness.This time, he would fight to death, he wouldn't let anyone to harm his Nupur.

"Mayank?"

Nupur saw him at the kitchen door, as she whirled around after putting the shwarma dough for baking in the oven..At his serious expression, her nerve endings went on alert.He was looking so pale, out of himself that something sharp pricked beneath her chest. She has now understood him so well that she could feel and unsaid emotions. There was something wrong..He wasn't alright. She moistened her suddenly dry lips.

"Mayank, what happened?"

Instead of answering, he walked to her, took her arm, and urged her to follow him across the hall to lounge and then made her sit on the sofa. Her nerves were continuing to build and Mayank seemed dead serious, his shoulders tense, the muscles taut beneath his cotton shirt.

"Mayank" She searched his face, but his eyes now were hooded, his expression mostly in shadow.Her heart speeded up, clanked uncomfortably against her ribs. There was something in his eyes that made her stomach quiver. He took her hand, cradled it between both of his. And then stared into hers, "Nupur, you are the only one person in my life whom I love...I love madly, deeply"

"I Love you, too" She interrupted him with her own confession, cupping his face in her palms and his lips curled slightly.

"I know" he kissed her palms.

"Then why are you so unsettled, Mayank"She concerned and he bent and kissed her cheek.

"I,m scared to lose you.I'll surely die without you as I can't take even a single breath without you.You are everything I have" He blinked but his eyes filled with tears.

"I'm with you always, Love," She said, giving him a love filled gaze, trying to penetrate her love in him.She looked distressed at his sudden insecure behavior.

"I'm scared Nupur, hell scared"

The fear in his voice made her heart lurched beneath her chest and she tried to search the reason in his eyes but couldn't understand anything.He made her stand, crawled his arms around her and hugged her tightly, "I'm scared Nupur.After ages, I'm feeling scared again to lose someone who is my Heart, my life" His voice muffled as he cried against her shoulder.She drew back to look at him and brushed away the wetness on his cheeks.

"Mayank, Don't be scared love.I'm with you always"

"Be with me always Nupur. I'll die without you"

Her heart squeezed with pain, and her eyes slid closed on a wave of pain.She patted his back, saying soothing words again and again to calm him but he looked so distress.

The whole night he held her tightly, didn't let her go anywhere like a child who was fearing to lose the most precious toy he had.
