Chapter 40

Nazma looked around after giving her opinion to her mother and her eyes were widened with shock.

"Where is Zoya?" She shouted looking at the empty space where Zoya was sitting just a few moments ago.

Amreen was with Zoya all the time but when she went to bring water for Zoya; Zoya took this opportunity to leave the house. Listening to Nazma's shocked voice Dilshad had turned around and saw the empty space. Her happy family was destroyed by her own hand. What had she done?

Dilshad did not understand anything this time. She was only seeing that empty space and thinking about what she had done. The night which might be the happiest night for both of her children had become a nightmare just because of her. She wanted to punish herself this time. What she had done was not forgivable and she would not ask about forgiveness too. She was deceived 18 years ago and she was deceived today by the same man. Why she believed that man? She could not justify herself then how would she tell anything about it to anyone. Tears rolled down to her cheeks and she regretted for every word she said to Asad. How badly she wanted to engulf him in her embrace and told him that she wronged to him. She judged him by his anger even though she knew that Asad would never do anything wrong. What would she do now? A hand pulled her into an embrace. She looked up and cried louldly.

"I am a bad Ammi, actually wrost example of all Ammi's. Khala, why I did that to him? Asad will never forgive me. That man (Rashid) never respected me and I believed him just like that. Now look I am giving that price Khala. I have strangled all the happiness of my child's with my own hands. Allah will also never forgive me Khala. I don't want that too. It will be my punishment that I will live alone." Her sounds getting louder from each line that Amreen had to clasp her mouth with her hand.

"Stop, Dilshad. This is not the time for blaming. We need to think about Zoya. Asad will be back as soon as he will calm down. But Zoya, where does she go, that too in this late night? Think about it now. We can solve Rashid's problem later." Amreen was worried with each passing second. Dilshad nodded and looked up to Nazma. She was pacing like a lioness trying to reach Zoya over the phone.

"Zoya, pick up the call, damn it." Nazma was becoming frustrated with her each try as Zoya was cutting her call continuously.

"What happened to Zoya? Where had she gone?" A voice startled them and they were gasped loudly with unison returning their head to the source. They looked at the person disbelievingly. How come that was even possible?

Asad had scrunched his eyebrows with confusion looking all of the three one by one. Each faces showing the change of emotions from shock to confusion and then fear. His eyes fixed with his mother's, she immediately lowered her gaze on the floor. He could not understand why all were feared, so asked again

"Where is Zoya?" his eyes wandered looking around but she was not there in the room. Nazma was the first person who came out from the trance and said

"Bhaijaan, how come you are here in your room? I mean Abb...I mean Mr. Rashid said you left us." Nazma said with anger in her tone. Asad shut his eyes and said

"Why would I do that? Why would I leave my own house?" Asad said with a calm and determined voice. Dilshad's gaze shot up listening to his voice. Tears rolled down silently. She abandoned him but he would never abandon her. He would always protect his family. Well she knew it, no?

Nazma briefly said what happened after he left well they thought that he left. Asad gasped loudly and grabbed the keys and his wallet hastily.

"I am coming with you" Nazma insisted.

"No, you can't come with me. Look at you. You are in your engagement attire and I am not allowing you to come with me in this state. Go and take care of Ammi and Didan" Asad said making his way to his SUV. He stopped abruptly as he sensed someone was there behind him after Nazma had left. He looked at her and it was Dilshad.

"I know I have no right to say this anymore but please bring her back, Asad. I am sorry for making your life hell, I am really sorry for not understanding you, I don't know what happened to me then and why I believed him, I thought may be he wanted to repent but your anger is coming between this but truly he blamed me for this blunder" Dilshad was exasperated. She wanted to hug Asad, to reassure her but how could she do it when she herself did not sure this time.

"You had/have/will have all right Ammi over me, Nazma and now Zoya.No one can snatch it form you Ammi. I can understand now why you believe him. This called love Ammi. If it would happen before then I would leave this house. But after the arrival of Zoya in my life I can understand. This is love which made you to believe him. But problem is he does not respect your feelings, love ever. You need to understand this. Now please pray that I can find Zoya" Asad took her hand in his, kissed those and climbed up the SUV.

"I will beta. Please bring her back." Dilshad kissed his forehead and mumbled with ushered tears in her eyes.How Zoya has changed him she can understand it very well and she was considering his point of view very carefully.

Zoya felt cheated when she first heard that Asad had left her without informing her. She was numb, was hurt. But when Nazma was scolding Rashid she realized Asad could not leave her just like that. He is not like his Abbu. If Asad could tell Nazma good things about Rashid despite his hatred for Rashid then how come he leaves her just like that? So she decided to find him. She wanted some answers now.

Zoya came out of the house silently. She saw his SUV in the parking and frowned

"He did not even driving, Ya Allah! Now where can he go? Please Asad come back to me. She started to walk alone in the road. Nazma started to call her but she did not pick up. She knew if she answered they would say to go back home. She was not going back without Asad. She was determined.

Asad was driving slowly looking each and every person of the street. He was worried for her but he could not blame her about what she did.

"She can't leave me. She loves me damn it. May be she is searching for me also. Then, where she can go? Zoya, where are you? Come back to me? Ya Allah how many times I need to go through this fear of leaving. Please have mercy on me. Why can't I just have a normal life with her? Why Allah? Please bring her back to me. Please help me to find her. I can't even call her now." Asad chanted again and again to pacify himself.

Two hours before, in the garden of Khan Villa

Asad was shocked to see his mother like this. Dilshad just said him to leave this house? Dilshad believed Rashid again? How could she? He looked at the empty space where Dilshad stood before. Then he stood back on his feet and climbed up in the SUV without looking back. He realized he had no keys and not even the wallet with him. He stepped back and went to the entrance of the house in order to get those accessories. He was entering when he saw Dilshad was introducing Rashid with the guests. He knew if he would go to the room then he would do something unpleasant which could harm their reputation and his mother's honor. So he came back to the garden and sat on the bench. He stared at the black starry sky for sometimes. He was frustrated about Dilshad. Why she turned into that man's side. He was hurt and he wanted to leave this house right now. But how would he go? He did not have anything. Then realization downed upon him, the window of his room. He could use that to take those things from his room. He entered the room using widow, if it was in normal time he would found it uncultural and the person who used to come in the room with window would lack "Tameez and Tehzeeb" but now he was not thinking about it, the room was dark as light was off. He grabbed the keys and wallet but something had fallen on the side table while he was doing that. Being an OCD suffering person he could not overlook that and observed the area using the faint light of his cell. It was the photo frame which had Zoya's image. He stared at the photograph for a long time and recalled the event that happened just few moments ago between him and Zoya. He also remembered about her saying a night before.

"Avoidance is not the solution of any problem Mr. Khan"

How can he leave her when he knew she was scared to loose him? How can he live without her? He promised her to be with her in the thick and thin of their life.Then how will he leave her here just like that? How can he leave his Ammi and Tamater? He promised himself that he will protect his family then why will he leave just like that because of his Ammi's one comment. Asad was going to call Zoya but just then Habib called him, informing about Rashid's call to his mother which clearly stated that how Rashid gained sympathy from Dilshad by telling lies. He was tracing Rashid's call as Asad told him to do that the day when Rashid had threaten Asad. Hearing that news Asad wanted to strangle Rashid then and there but again stopped considering Nazma's engagement. This made him frustrated to the core and to take out his frustration he crashed his cell, banging it on the wall. He sat on the bed.

He slept a little at the last night and did works all the day long. All these exhaustion made him fall into sleep.

He woke up after an hour later and heard loud tones from Nazma. He then realized he was sleeping. He hastily made his way to the living room to inquire the matter.

He was no in the park side and observing carefully. He thought to check in the park. "Where are Zoya?" He mumbled again.

Zoya was walking alone on the road. Suddenly she realized she was passing the park. She remembered that Asad used to come here when he was feeling low. She made her way inside the park to their bench to find him. She knew Asad would be mad if he knew that she was going there alone in this late night but she could not help it. What if he was really there, there was no problem to give a try. She went there and saw the empty bench and again her eyes moistened. Now where would she search for him? She wiped her tears and went inside near the lake. There were no fireflies today, all dark. She sighed; it was like her life with all darkness.She came out from the park and landed on the road when a SUV stopped abruptly infront of her. She shouted because of impulsion. Asad hastily came out from his SUV and engulfed her in his arms.

"Where are you going? Are you again leaving me" Asad said in an accusing tone. He knew she was no fault in this but he could not resist bringing out his frustration.

Zoya was perplexed at first with the sudden commotion. Her mind recognized Asad easily than her brain and instantly she encircled her hands around him sobbing loudly.

"You are here. I am looking for you."

But soon realization downed upon her that what brought her here and she pushed him away from her angrily. She was becoming sensitive this time. Why always he did this to her?

"What hell you are saying? It was you who left me alone there?" She shouted to Asad. Asad was hurt as she had pushed him away but remained silent.

"Why you always did this to me?" Zoya broke down.

"Umm..can you please calm down and let me explain" Asad asked hasitantly. He was relieved to find her.

"Why will I? Who am I? What have rights I have on you?" Zoya hissed.

"Zoya !!!" Asad shouted this time. He could not bear this tantrums now.

"How can you say that? You have all rights on me. Now just listen to me carefully" Asad pleaded to her.

Zoya cried again this time, hitting her tiny fists on his broad chest.

"I don't want to listen anything; you left me alone, you...you..." Zoya could not even finish his line as Asad held her hand tightly and gave a chaste kiss on her cheek.

"I love you and I was not leaving. You do not believe me?" Asad said after the kiss. Zoya remained silent. She could not tell anything.

"Now, will you listen to me or I take you from here forcefully." Asad smirked this time. Zoya looked at him, her eyes were spitting fire.

"This is not funny Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan. I am not going with you" Zoya gritted through her teeth.
