CHAPTER:10

PUNE

Varad was in for a huge shock when he saw his room filled with white lilies and vanilla scented candles. A bottle of 1980 Chardonnay was kept in an ice bucket for chilling on his side drawer that was his favourite wine. He couldn't believe that Sojal went this far with her antics to grab his attention. The room screamed "Seduction" thought Varad cursing Sojal. He recalled all various tactics Sojal used to make him notice her from cooking his favourite meals to watching all his favourite movies like the Godfather series, Ocean's trilogy and so on to conjure topics to talk to him as if a wife needs an excuse to talk with her own husband. Varad was disgusted at her when he was so sure that she instigated little Kavya to bully her father for taking them all for a family trip.But now he couldn't take it anymore thought Varad crushing some rose petals which adorned his king sized bed in shape of an heart. He was about to turn and walk away when he heard the door of en suite' open and thinking it was Sojal turned back with the intension of giving her a piece of his mind about her evil plan but got end up getting a coronary seeing a totally different Sojal standing right in front of him. She was standing there in a skimpy little red lingerie with g- string panties and garters running down her thighs complete with red stilettos. Varad could feel his mouth drying up like desert sand and his pants tightening up slightly. He was completely speechless leaving Sojal nervous who no doubt was expecting Varad to say something and break the silence. "Hmm...Sojal..You look..." words were failing to come his mouth seeing his wife dressed up like a female fatale - a complete transformation from Nirupa Roy to Scarlet Johansson as he stood there like an idiot and completing miserably "...cute." A slightly disappointed Sojal looked down herself as she was sure this would surely impress her husband said in a low voice "Clearly the response I wasn't expecting for my goal as I am sure you are laughing in your head right now seeing how comical I look. But the sales assistant at the mall assured me I look hot and sexy in it lied for her commission. Just wait here while I go and change" turning to leave the room. "Wait" said Varad closing the space between them and taking Sojal in his arms to look in her eyes filled with an alien emotion for both of them "LUST". "I am sorry. You look very sexy and hot. If you don't believe me I have the proof. See for yourself" said Varad grinning broadly as he pointed towards his pants where his desire for her was pretty much visible making Sojal blush furiously and she started seeing sideways trying to escape his intense gaze which was boring her body as he checked her out from head to toe with immense satisfaction.

Tipping her chin up to his level Varad very lightly brushed his lips to Sojal's like an experiment. He started trailing kisses on her eyelids, cheeks, and jaws and then went back to her mouth. He very gently suckled and nibbled on her lower lip which made her squirm and deceivingly gained him entry in her mouth and then slightly stroking her tongue making her groan and moan. Her response to his kissing intensified his hunger for her and he couldn't control anymore as he started untying his tie and ripping off his shirt making all the buttons pop and flinging it off on the floor still kissing her. This brought Sojal back to earth as she started fidgeting and trying to escape his arms. In past seven years they had made love many times but it was all a clinical process with no place of mutual lust or a trace of affection. It was just an act for both of them with mutual benefits: For Sojal getting pregnant with Agnihotri heir and For Varad a means of stress release. But they never experienced this uncontrollable desire or lust for each other that even they couldn't explain or understood which was about raw hunger and plain ache for each other.

"We have to stop right now. We can't do it now. "Said Sojal between kisses gasping for air when Varad reached for his belt. Suddenly he became very still and he tried very hard to tame the beast within him which was unleashed after a very long time flinging Sojal away getting a grip on his emotions said "I should have known it was too good to be true. You know you shouldn't start a fire if you can't handle its flame. You are such a tease Sojal. Get out of my sight before I loose my patience and control with you." "Listen Varad I didn't stop you because I didn't want to do it but I stopped you because I wanted it too much. I have planned an entire night for seducing you and you didn't give me a chance to do all that before I loose all my courage to go through all" said Sojal in a very embarrassed tone which made Varad first calm and then laugh out loud as he said "You are a piece of art Sojal. Do whatever you like to me. Seduce away." Blushing in the shade similar to her costume Sojal pointed towards the bottle of Chardonnay and went to fetch two wine glasses while Varad opened the bottle with cork screw bottle opener. He filled half a glass the white coloured liquid and clicking the glasses saying in union "Cheers."

"So tell me Shlok a bit about your wife Astha. I have just heard a thing or two about her from you even though she is the most important aspect of your life. I know she is the reason you are trying to resolve your issues and that she is the love of your life" asked Dr. Mehra in her last session with her most favourite patient. "Doc you know I don't like to talk about her. I made a terrible mistake and betrayed her making her leave me or rather she ran away from me. Other than that there is nothing to talk about. I don't know if she even wants to see me after I knocked down her boyfriend's teeth down his throat" said Shlok in an angry tone which by now Dr. Mehra was used to. "What are you so afraid of?" asked Dr. Mehra in a calm professional tone to which Shlok was used to by now. "Doc, by now you should know that Shlok Agnihotri is not afraid of anything." Said Shlok to which Dr. Mehra replied "Oh Shlok you can fool the whole world by this tough guy image you have got going on but I know that underneath that all you are really sweet and good guy with a heart of gold. I think you are afraid of opening up again and getting hurt. I think you are afraid of rejection, rejection by Astha to your feelings. Well as your doctor and as a friend I will tell you this don't be afraid as someone said once the best way to conquer your fear is to face it head on. It's about time you face your fear and getting your girl but this time take it slow and be gentle and patient to her." "Really Mandira I don't need...Oh pardon me. I have to take this." Said an apologetic Shlok to Dr. Mehra as he knew she hated being interpreted in her session and made all her keep their phones on silent mode. "Sir I saw Astha ring shopping with that doctor friend of hers today other than that nothing significant happened." Said the voice on the other side of the line which belonged to his PI whom he appointed to tail Astha updating him with daily reports. "You just do your job and keep me updated." Said Shlok in a curt voice masking the whirl hilled of emotion upsetting his being. Dr. Mehra noticed the change in Shlok's body language and tensing up of his shoulder. "Doc you are right it's about time I faced my wife and brought her back in my life." Said Shlok in a matter of fact tone to which Dr. Mehra said in a surprised voice "Shlok I don't know who called you and why and what changed your mind but know this keep a tight leash on your anger by practicing various techniques I taught you. Remember to take it slow and be gentle to your wife. Good luck." Shlok recalled all the techniques Dr. Mehra taught him like taking deep breaths, counting 1 to 10 slowly and his favourite laughter therapy as he needed all these right now just thinking about his wife being with anyone other than himself making his blood boil. Murmuring a short gruff "Thank you" to his doctor Shlok stormed out of her plush office leaving for Ahmedabad.

AHMEDABAD

"Going somewhere dear wifey?" asked Shlok leaning on the bonnet of his car waiting for Astha in front of Vishwas' Home as she was getting out of an auto rickshaw. "Yes and you are getting in my way. I am getting late for the engagement so get out of my way" said Astha in an irritated voice. Suddenly Shlok started laughing loudly and then said in a calm voice "Engagement? Don't you know bigamy is illegal in India and you can't get married unless you get a divorce? And good luck getting a quick divorce without my consent as I won't be divorcing you any time soon and you know it takes years to get a divorce in our current legal scenario." "Do you think I am getting married?" asked Astha in a confused tone to which Shlok said "Don't play dumb or take me for a fool. I know you went ring shopping with that home wrecking slime ball Vishwas so don't deny it." "I don't deny going for ring shopping with Vishwas but you fool I didn't go for myself. Vishwas is getting engaged but not with me but a sweet girl named Krisha whom I introduced to him. I went with him as he needed a girl's opinion. So whatever spy dog you hired to follow me gave you this half baked information you should fire him." Said Astha in a little smug tone making Shlok a little ashamed of himself but quickly hid it and said in an almost happy tone "Congratulate the kid on my behalf. I would do so myself but I don't think he would appreciate me coming to the ceremony. Have dinner with me?" "Are you requesting a dinner or do you just expect me to show up?" asked Astha to which Shlok said frustratingly "Astha will you please honour me by having dinner with me tonight?" "I don't know. Let me think and I will get back to you on that one but now I am really getting late so just go I will call you with my answer" said Astha in a lazy voice to which Shlok just nodded in agreement and left hurriedly pecking Astha on her cheek, fleeing before Astha got a chance to express her anger. Astha just stood there for a moment with a frown on her face which was quickly replaced by a smile with which she entered Vishwas' house.

"Someone is looking very chirpy today smiling that million watt smile. What did that HULK of the husband of yours want?" asked Vishwas in a happy tone signifying the importance of the day and also seeing a happy Astha. "Oh that he thought we were getting engaged to be married. Like I was going to repeat the mistake of another marriage and that too get married to a knucklehead like you. Thank god Krisha agreed to marry you. What did you do to make her agree? Drug her?" Said Astha laughing playfully and teasing Vishwas like she always did." "I will tell you this I am a great catch. Ask any of my ex girl friend. And as for Krisha I did drug her, drugged her with my love and she agreed to marry me. " said Vishwas to which Astha said "Yes that's true I guess. By the way Shlok congratulated you and he wanted to do so in person but then remembered your previous encounter and spared you. He asked me for dinner and I told him I will call him." "So what will you do? Will you go for dinner? FYI I could take him down if I wanted to but then I didn't counter attack him as he is your husband and I didn't wanted to spoil his pretty face" said Vishwas with an absurd amount of confidence making Astha laugh as she said "Yeah. You did that for me. Moving on of course I will have dinner with him but I just wanted to keep him hanging and putty in my hands to teach him a lesson. But first let him wait." "Oh you are cruel. Poor guy is so oblivious to your evil plan. I pity the man for getting in your wrongs even if I am not his greatest fan and as they say "The hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. But I just want to say take care with him. I know you still love him. I just want you to be careful around him and take it slow or else you will end up getting hurt again." Said Vishwas from a teasing tone to suddenly sincere tone to which Astha replied "Don't worry Vishwas this time around I won't be the same nave emotional fool and be careful. Now go get ready fast before Krisha changes her mind." Said Astha reassuring Vishwas and after he left laughing to get ready Astha called Shlok.

Shlok waited in his hotel room for two hours for Astha call, continuously staring at the screen and kept on chanting "Call Astha Call..." and "Ring stupid phone ring" cursing the phone. When the phone suddenly rang he picked it up immediately and said "Astha you called. Have you decided?" to which an annoyed Astha replied "Yes Shlok I called just like I promised I would. Anyway I called to inform you I will take you up on your offer for a meal but I get to decide the place. There's this great Italian restaurant near our hotel in Vastrapur I will text you the address. Meet there at 8. Bye." Said Astha curtly ending the call not even waiting for his reply or hear his shock on the change in Astha's attitude from sweet and polite to smart and confident. He got up from his bed and started getting ready for his real first date with his own wife.
