Seduction has indeed left me stunned.
How do I begin with what I felt as I was reading this chapter? Words come gushing out of me for which I hold no control, for there's so much to be said and so much felt after reading this one.
A genre that goes by the name of supernatural is as mystic as it is fascinating; the secrets and the facts that are shrouded gives it an aura that sure leaves all readers spellbound alike.
But not all stories of this genre restrict themselves to being on the right of goodness and this was showed how much poignant a tale that combines the supernatural with your style of writing could be.
Sibling rivalry and the hatred that arises out of it is not new to us; time and again tales have shown how hatred which is the development of the rivalry ultimately plays a role in causing harm to the righteous person. But then we have also been known to expect that goodness prevails at the end. This tale however begs to differ from that.
I could understand Payal's animosity towards Khushi and the extreme steps which she took as a result of that. So far, acceptable. What baffles me however is the power she exhibited. After all we have always been fed upon the fact that it is only the person who himself is above all and devoid of any sin or wrong doing can place a curse. Then how can a woman who is spurned by her fianc posses the power to curse an innocent woman? And by what right? I'm sure there must be something to it which is to be explained, but I must say that it baffles me.
Khushi...through fan fictions we have seen various attributes to her but this one just races ahead. A woman who has seen misery through the death of her parents and then the adopted ones and has only been subjected to hatred and then indifference could only get worse after having been at the receiving end of a curse for something she didn't even do. Could she have been any more wronged? The answer is a plain and an immediate no.
Knowing about her past makes me feel as though Arnav and Khushi are kindred spirits, but it only continues till the happening that life has meted out on them. Or if I were to delve into it, I could say that since their lives have crossed each other, what lies in store for them irrespective or Arnav's decision is bound to lead them to the same path...that of despondency and heartbreak.
The fact that Khushi is bound by her painting is so surreal; it just takes the supernatural element to another level. She is indeed helpless by the singular curse that changes her life forever; the immortality is something she has accepted after so long but the entrapment brought about by the projection of her own form couldn't have been any more potent in its effect.
What remains to be seen is how things proceed from here on. Arnav's acceptance of the bitter truth seems so puny after having known about it entirely. We still don't know how innocence can dare and break away the curse or if the words will ever be deduced in the way they were meant.
One doubt though...what happens if the painting is destroyed? And I would like to know about this in both scenarios; that when Khushi enters into it and when she is out if it. I would so want for the destruction of the painting to be the simple solution...but I know you well.
And because I know you well, I know that things are a long way from being any simple than from how they are at present.
A wonderful chapter and one that has truly left me speechless. Kudos to you, Juhi for this extremely enthralling tale. Congrats to TG as well; she has done the unthinkable!
