This one is dedicated to MD! Happy Belated Birthday!
The diwali preparations were going on at the college. The boys were stood outside dressed perfectly in their sherwani's, waiting for the girls. "Uff these girls, kitna time lagati hai" Nill exclaimed.
"Seriously".
"Arey swayam, they'll come, let them take their time". Rey spoke.
"Dude! Tu keh reh kyunki tujhe wait karvane wala koi nai hai na"
Vicky shouted not realising what he had just said. Rey got lost in his thoughts while Swayam glared at vicky.
"I..I'm sorry mera matlab.."
Before vicky could complete, rey had already made his way out from there.
"Kharra kya dekh reh? chal ab!"
Swayam spoke and dragged vicky along with him. As swayam knew rey would be at the basket ball court, they went straight there. Anger and pain was clearly visible from his eyes. Although swayam and vicky could not see clearly, but it felt like he had been crying. Rey was dribbling the ball as hard as he could as if he was venting out all his anger on the ball only. Swayam went and grabbed the ball before it hit his face. Rey turned around trying to hide his pain. Vicky turned him and side hugged him.
"Rey, I'm sorry yar! Mera voh matlab nai tha"
"Tu kyun sorry bol reh. Tu..Tu sach hi toh bol rha tha. I.. don't have no one.. No One!"
Saying this rey broke down completely on the floor. Along with him swayam and vicky also bent down on the floor to comfort him. Rey was continuously crying without having a clue off what vicky and swayam was saying. Finally wiping his tears away; he got up to leave.
"Diwali nai manani kisi ne?"
Rey Asked swayam and vicky.
"Rey tu.."
"Vicky Mein ek insaan ki vajah se sab festivals toh nai chod doonga na.. it's been a year. Mere roney se and festivals na manane se voh.. voh vaapis nai aajayegi"
saying this rey left. Swayam and vicky sighed and also left the basketball court to go behind him.
Rey reached the terrace where everyone was lighting up fireworks. Tears automatically formed up in his eyes. He closed his eyes letting them fall. Her serene, soft face came in front off his eyes. When he had first seen her at diwali standing there in her pink lengha fidgeting with her scarf. Her cute curls which reached her shoulders, her big eyes which were looking down out off shyness. He remembered Her small cute hands holding the sparklers which made her face light up. "Rey aao na" she spoke indicating him to come. Her smile was so bright. She looked perfect. He opened his eyes and saw her shadow swift past. He looked all around but found her no where. He felt someones hand on his shoulder. On turning around he found vicky and swayam again.
"Guys.. Voh.. voh yahan thi"
"Rey.. kon?"
Vicky spoke seeing Rey worried.
"K..Kriya"
"Rey, ye college hai.. bas tera vehm hai, voh yahan nai hai.."
Swayam spoke. Rey wondered whether it was his illusion and agreed to swayam.
"Hmm, maybe it is."
"Arey come na guys, aao diye jalaate hai!"
simmi shouted.
"Yup lets go guys"
They joined the rest where they were lighting the diya and lighting up fireworks. Simmi dragged rey to join her. Rey went and held the sparkler but again saw her. "Kriyaa"
"Kriyaa??"
All shouted at once. They ran behind rey realising he was gone.
Finding rey; they reached the principles office.
"Sir.. Rey?, Rey! thankgod"
Sharon spoke realising rey was there itself. Before she could continue, she saw no one was responding but just staring. Sharon followed there gaze and was shocked to what she saw.
"Kriya Tum!! Kyun waapis ayi!? rey ki khushiyan dekhi nai jaati tumse? you bloody.."
"Sharon!"
Swayam spoke pulling her behind, who was about to push kriya.
Rey was numb all along with drops off tears leaving his eyes.
"kriya why u back? rey doesn't need you"
"Ya nill sahi keh reh, bohot khush hai voh"
"I agree simmi" rinni also spoke
"please challi jao yahan se.."
"Amar..tum bhi.." kriya stammered and spoke.
"ey tu bas challi ja yahan se, bheja bohot garam hai mera pehle se hi"
kriya turned to swayam hoping he would listen to her, but he simply turned away not knowing what to say.
"Guys have u all lost it??"
The principle fumed, taking kriyas side"
"sir aap nai jaante isne kya kiya!" Sharon said informing him.
"Ache se jaanta hoon. infact u all are lucky to have such a friend. Isne toh.."
"no sir.. please"
"no kriya, let me.. tumhare inn so called doston ko pata toh challey"
Before the principle could tell them; kriya ran out off the office.
"Sir.. kriya what?"
swayam asked curiously.
"Kriya sacrificed her love, her dance just for u guys"
The principle pointed at rey and then the gang. Rey who was looking down all along, looked up.
"M..matlab?"
This was the first time rey spoke while he was at the office.
"Matlab apne mom ke kehne par she left everything."
The principle narrated the whole truth. From the day she had left up until now.
All the gang felt guilty. They all had tears in their eyes. Rey once again broke down on the floor. Everyone bent down to him. "All you have a great friend. Appreciate her instead off saying bad about her." Rey wiped his tears and went off to find kriya followed by the others.
Kriya was on the terrace. Where others were bursting fireworks, she felt like crying out loud. Her love, friends and her best friend were not ready to accept her. Tears fell from her eyes. The people present on the terrace were looking at her. Some came upto her to ask whether she was okay. She told them she was fine and wiped her tears. Hiding her tears she turned around facing away from everyone. She felt a tap on her shoulder.
"I said im fine!"
"But i know ur not."
On hearing rey's voice; she turned.
"Rey Aap..."
"Shh..! sab akele hi sehti ray. Ek baar toh batati, hum koi na koi raasta nikaal lete, lekin nai! Tumhe toh sabki help karni hai na.. sabko khush rakhneh"
"Lekin aapko itni takleef dekar chor diya"
Kriya turned away from him, rey went on the oppsite side; infront of her.
"Kri..kriya aisa nai hai. Im proud off u, tumne apni friendship nibhai"
"Lekin aapne ek baar bhi trust nai kiya.. gande ho aap"
she let out a pout.
"I know, im sorry!"
He also let out a pout. Kriya came towards him as he moved backwards.
"sorry se kya hoga, Pehle trust karte na, ab kya fayda, poora saal hogaya, ye bhi nai socha k meine kitna miss kiya aapko.. aur aap.."
She pushed him lightly with every sentence, Not realising they were at the end of the terrace.
"Woahhh baatcutter! Jaan se maarna chahti ho kya?"
Kriya quickly pulled him back and hugged him tightly.
"I missed you alot!"
"I missed you too"
he responded giving her tighter hug while tears were still visible in their eyes.
"Ahemm *cough cough* Hum bhi hai yahan pe"
The gang spoke.
"Kya yaar, teekh se romance toh karne dete"
Rey spoke with a pout as kriya blushed
"Abey romance ke bache, woh apne time mein karna. abhi we need to talk to kriya."
Sharon spoke.
"Kriya Were sorry!"
"Yah kriya Because off us u had to bare so much, i feel really bad"
"Simmi's right, hum tumhe kya kuch kehte rey and tum toh humara hi sochti rey"
"Sharon ne pehli baar kuch sahi bhola, abey tum toh humari weakling team ki maker ho aur humne apne hi master ko itna kuch.."
"Haan bharat, aur meine.. apni hi bestfriend ko ignore kiya, were really sorry kriya"
Kriya had tears in her eyes as wel as everyone else. They all hugged her one by one starting with swayam and sharon followed by the others. The girls and boys soon divided and started talking in their groups. Rey took swayam to a side and spoke to him.
"Saaley, tum sab ko kebab mein haddi bann na zaroori tha kya?"
"Arey? mein kya karta humme bhi toh kriya se maafi maangni thi na"
"Haan but humara romance beech mein rukwa diya"
"Hmm, barri jaldi ho rhi hai ;)"
"Swayam tu.."
"acha bas bas, bulaata hoon"
Swayam went back to the gang and told kriya rey had call her. Everyone teased her while kriya blushed and excused herself.
"Rey aapne bhulaya?"
Rey pulled her closer from her waist. He hugged her and nuzzled close into the crook off her neck. He took in her fragrance which he had missed in all this while.
"Rey aap.. sab dekh rey hain"
"Toh.. Mein tumhe hug hi toh kar rao.. hai na?"
"nai, vo.. ap"
"Mein kya kriya?"
He kissed her neck and again hid himself.
"Rey Aap.. chalo na, mujhe fireworks dekhni hai"
She was about to leave when rey pulled her back.
"Ek hug toh doh"
Kriya hugged him tight. Giving him a quick peck on the cheeks, she ran surprising rey.
Rey ruffled his hair while flashing his million dollar smile. "oh god! I love her"
He spoke and left to follow the others.
"HAPPY DIWALI!"
They all shouted at once. They lit fireworks and saw them burst in the sky. Rey went upto kriya and hugged her from the back. "Happy diwali" He whsipered in her ears. "Aapko bhi" She replied.
"These fireworks light up the whole sky, haina rey?"
"And You light up my world"
He pecked her cheek as kriya blushed. Everyone saw this and started teasing them.
Kriya hugged rey to hide her blush whereas Rey smiled.
"I love you baatcutter"
"I love you too.. Linecutter"
Rey smiled hearing linecutter after ages.
The atmosphere was filled with cheering and applauses.
The lights off diwali surely bought lights in their lives as now both had each other to light up their worlds.
