Part4

Khushi stood in the reception of Raizada Firms. She was at loss of words after looking at the building. It was huge and beautiful. She hesitantly entered and was surprised to see the beautiful reception area. As soon as the cool air conditioned air touched her, she felt herself at ease. She went up to receptionist and saw a pretty girl managing some documents.

"Yes ma'am how can I help you?" asked the ever polite receptionist.

"I have an appointment with Mr. Raizada." Replied Khushi.

"Ma'am his cabin is on the third floor."

Khushi nodded and went towards the lift. She was glad she was all alone in the lift. She adjusted her dupatta and combed her hair with her fingers. She was wearing a blue and white salwar kameez. Her hair were open and neck was adorned with a very thin gold chain.

She looked up and prayed to Devi Maiya before stepping out of the lift. She walked with confidence and elegance and knocked the cabin.

"May I come in sir?"

"yes." He was reading his task list and sipping his black coffee. He looked up and saw a very beautiful girl approaching him. He knew she was not an employee and definitely not one of his friends but still he thought he knew her. Strange. Muttered Arnav under his breath.

She came in and sat silently on the chair. She forwarded her file towards him and he took it without any word. She was feeling strange. Strange, yes because she knew this man. Yet she could not approach him. She was his friend year's back but she knew she could not bring it up. She knew Arnav would have definitely forgotten her.

Khushi looked at Arnav. He has changed. He looks much better than he was in his teens. He was lean back then but now he looks great. She looked at his forehead for a certain sign. Yes it was still there above his right eye. The scar was still there. His nose was more of sharp and aristocratic. His lips were thinned and she knew he was reading her file with full concentration.

Khushi focused on her train of thoughts and realized she was reading too much about Arnav Singh Raizada. She reprimanded her heart and mind that she was to work under him and not to admire him. She'll not talk about her friendship until he himself asks her anything. She was here to work and earn and that she will do with full dedication and determination.

Arnav read her resume. After reading the first page only he knew who she was. She was his Khushi, for whom he had been waiting. If he was happy, it never appeared on his face. He kept on reading her file to know more and more about her. She had a law degree and had several internship certificates from not so famous law offices.

Well the decision was made and he was going to hire her.

"So Ms. Gupta you are hired. You can start your work from today itself. Aman will brief you about your work and if you have any other problem then you can contact me."

Arnav stood up and called Aman to his cabin. Khushi too stood up. She was hoping Arnav would say something about past or would acknowledge her but nothing of sorts happened. Aman came in and Arnav ordered him to help Khushi. Aman soon went out of his cabin with Khushi when she heard Arnav call her out using her first name.

"khushi what have you done to your pigtails?"

At first she did not understand and blinked her eyes twice and then a genuine smile broke out her lips.

And he too smiled.

Shyam was working on his case for last 3 hours. He looked at the clock and saw it was 6:35 pm but Anjali did not come to his room with tea. She always brings his tea at 6 sharp. He went out of his room and saw Anjali sitting on the dining table. She head was in her hands. He approached her and kept his hand on her shoulder.

"What happened Anjali? Is something wrong?"

"No Shyamji. I was thinking about something."

"Can I help you? I have never ever seen you so much engrossed."

"Actually Shyamji it's about my best friend Ritu."

"What is it Anjali?"

"Shyamji she loves a guy. But she is not sure how to approach him. She tells me that she cannot live without him but still she is afraid to speak her heart out. She was upset about it."

"And that's why you are upset? Anjali why do you get involve in others problem. See if she loves that guy she will have to say it to him. If she cannot say then she could message him or write a letter. Simple. Now get up lets go to the walk. You'll feel refreshed."

Shyam held her hand and lead her to the garden. Manohar saw Shyam and Anjali from his room and smiled. His wish might come true.

It had been a week since Khushi had started working in Raizada Firm. Khushi was Arnav's assistant. She was making the list of the clients who were scheduled to meet Arnav in the upcoming week. She had learnt that Raizada Firm was a very big company and handled many of the country's best business houses.

She also got to know that Arnav was a hard task master and was nothing less than perfectionist. But nobody criticized him. He took care of his employees. If the firm would get a new business house or any other success then ASR never shied away in throwing a bash for his employees. Arnav was well respected by his employees.

Khushi too was happy to work here. She found out that he has not changed a bit. He was still always- ready- to- help- you- friend. They did talk about the past time and laughed remembering the incidents of the past.

Arnav met Buaji once and Khushi too confided him about her health condition.

Khushi and Shyam had decided that they will meet every Sunday. And they did meet on first Sunday.

Finally Khushi's life was coming on the track. She was settled. She happy and contented about it.

Arnav was happy too. His firm was doing great. And now his Khushi was with him. He decided he will work at a very slow pace and would win over her. He would take no rash decisions. For now the time they spent together working was sufficient for him.

Arnav was working when he saw Mr. Kapoor walk towards him. Mr. Kapoor was a senior lawyer and a very respectable gentleman. ASR too respected him. Arnav stood up and shook hands.

Both the gentlemen sat and Mr. Kapoor took the turn to speak.

"Arnav as you know my son Rishi has returned from US after completing his studies. I and my wife wants him to settle down. We both like your sister Anjali and would wish to make her our daughter in law. My son wants to settle down with the girl we choose. Mrs. Kapoor met Anjali at some party and now she wishes to have her as her bahu."

Arnav was speechless. This gentleman was here with the alliance for his sister. "Mr. Kapoor I respect your wish. I have met Rishi and he is a genuine guy but I would like to ask Anjali about it. It is her life and she has the final say. As far as I am concerned. My happiness lies in my Anjali's happiness."

"That is great Arnav. You ask her. We will wait for the answer."

i know this is quite crappy but trust me the next chapter would not be. the characters are set and now the story will move forward..

and just remember one thing, people are not wrong its just that circumstances are not always in their favour...
