Chapter 61- My real world
"You first gift" I said handing her a pink coloured piece of material with a rosy floral design. Her eyes widened as her hands traced over the silky material and delicate beaded embroidery.
"It's beautiful" she quickly unraveled the cloth and wrapped it around herself. "Bhai look" she swiveled around slightly with it. To the left then right. She stopped when she saw me pulled my hand out of the bag. "What else?" She questioned
I handed her a pair of delicate silver earrings. She quickly popped them on her ears and wiggled her head. "I love them! What else?" She bounced on the bed.
I smiled at her enthusiasm then pulled out a small wooden colourful jewellery box. It had two drawers with a small bead hanging on by ribbons as the handles. I smiled as her mouth dropped. I gave it in her hands "woow" she said then jumped to give me a hug. "Thank you" she said squeezing my neck.
I pulled back to breath and turned to look at the man who had sat silently just watching us all this time. There was hardly a word from him. I could see the smile on his face it was genuine but the anger, pain and frustration in his eyes was much more.
He looked at me he saw the worry in my eyes.
"What else?" Anjali shouted bringing us both out of our trance.
"Kido is that not enough she had not even gone for a day" Arnav finally spoke trying to divert my mind. But he knew his Khushi would know what he was trying to do.
"But bhai..." I cut in
"I still have to give your bhai his gift" I said putting my hand back in the bag. My eyes were on Arnav but he was not looking at me.
"Really! What did you get him?" She put her things down and moved her head so she could see in the bag. I watched Arnav eyes move from Anjali to the bag. He was still not looking at me. How could he a small part of him was feeling guilty. He was taking the blame on himself. For falling in the trap he own father set, for being blind to the truth all these years and for acting sufficiently with the people who had ruined his relationship the ones who had separated him from his love.
I pulled out a small mirror for him. The frame had smaller mirrors on it. Each mirror showed the viewer in a different way.
"Ohhh that's nice" Anjali said and was about to pull it out of my hand.
"Kido wait" I said as she took it before I could give it to Arnav.
"This is...
"kiddo its late, now get to bed" Arnav interrupted her and took the mirror.
"Bhai!" She whined
"No come on" he got up and let me fix the blanket.
"He's right it's late" I said taking the frame and helped her lie down. "Night I whispered" Then walked out the room.
I headed in the direction I saw him go. I was sure he went towards the rooftop. I knew he was probable taking time to think. He needed time but I was not going to let him suffer alone. We were both to blame I couldn't have him accusing himself.
I was right when I got to the roof top he stood alone staring at his reflection in the mirror I had just given him. I didn't know if he had really understood what it showed.
"My fiance's quite handsome" I said taking a peek from behind. He didn't move, nor was there a change of expression.
I moved to his side and wrapped my hand around his arm. He stayed quite not a word slipped out of his lips. I looked into the mirror then frame. "Arnav" I said in a low voice my heart was wincing in pain. We had come so far, gone through so much together. This should not affect us we couldn't let it get to us. This was our past one that had hunted us and hurt us for years. It had made us yearn for each other. We had suffered enough no more!
"Arnav" I said again there was a determination in my voice.
"I'm fine Khushi" he said tightening his hand around mine.
I moved in front of him and looked into his eyes. "It's not your fault" I said putting my hand on his face. I cared his face as he looked down at me.
"I should have known, I should have seen it. Khushi..." I cut him off
"What difference would it have made?" The fire in his eyes was reducing.
"It did, if they didn't do that I would have never parted from you. I would have always had my love with me"
"You still do." I gave him a small smile. His eyes still didn't look settled. I cared his cheek for a little bit. He kissed my hand that was on his face. I saw a small tear in his eye. All he wanted was to let out his pain. What his heart felt at the moment. The was no words needed between us but if he wanted words there would be words.
"I had always known he didn't approve." I saw darkness pass through his eyes as he shut then for a second. "I had to hide my love. From..." He paused I could feel water slipping from my eyes. "I had to live a lie for so long. I was trying to be someone I'm not. "I heard his voice becoming weak. "I was living but not living"
"You know what this gift shows right?" I said he opened his eyes and looked at me. He moved the mirror between us. "Each one of these small mirrors reflects the sides of my LG." He looked down at the way the all smaller mirrors were reflecting him in different manners. "A Son, A brother, A friend, A boss, and a lover." His face softened slightly. I cared his cheek wiping the tears. "We all project ourselves in different lights depending on who we are speaking too. Sometimes people hurt us it changes our opinion on them and how we acted in front of them. It changes the way we are reflected on them. You changed mirrors Arnav all those years ago but you still had your original self-hidden within. Now times has changed you can shift yourself back to who you're mean to be." He knew I was right he had never thought of it like that.
He suddenlt looked up at me into my eyes there was still a stab of guilt that he felt that second. "My own Father Khushi" he quickly turned his head looking away from me. "I'm sorry Khushi" his voice was low, he was taking the blame for what his father did.
I made him look back up at me "do I look upset?" I gave him a small smile he shook his head. "Do you know why?" He shook his head again. I turned the mirror in his hand so he could see the words inscribed at the back.
'I made a wish and you came true' he finally smiled.
"We have over came so much over the months LG. This..." A tear fell from my eye that he wiped away. "This makes no difference" he pulled me into a tight hold and held me in his embrace.
"Arnav" I said in a low voice there was cheekiness in my voice.
"Hmmm"
"You have your beautiful finance in a short sexy dress and your wallowing over the past" I heard him chuckle.
"Well what would she like me to do?" He said pulling back still holding me by my waist.
"Do I need to say?"
"Well" he smirked at me. "Your handsome fiance" he used the word I had described him with a few minutes ago. "Is not that fast you must have noticed" I gave him a fake angry glare and then pulled on his collar which led for his top 3 buttons to open.
"Don't say anything against him. Only I have the right" my lips hovered over his.
"Really?"
"Shut up!" I said before we kissed, it was not gentle it was demanding for control. He was able to shower what he had missed for years and I was able to shower what I needed for years.
"Mrs Raizarda you're becoming too demanding" he said pulling back and picking my up in one swift movement. He dropped the mirror on my lap and carried me down the stairs.
"Your no better yourself Raizarda." I said feeling his hands sliding on my leg. I leaned in closer to him and whispered in his ear. "I need to change" his eyes shined I knew what he was going to say and he did.
"I can help you with that"
"You wish!" I pushed him beck and wiggled in his hold "Arnav!" I whined
"You're not 13 like Anji Khushi don't whine" he took me to his room and dropped me on his bed.
"Why can only her brother whine?" I laid on my side, with the support of my elbow.
"You got that right" he popped himself next to me and pulled me closer. "I love you" he said leaning closer to me then taking. I was expecting a kiss but instead he took the frame and placed the mirror on his bed side table.
He then turned and stared at it. I leaned over his body, hugging him from the side.
"What do you see?" I asked
"The man I am now" he said
"And who's that?"
"A family man, who loves his fiance and sister." He smiled and turned a little so he could put his arm around me.
"My man" I said kissing his cheek. "Now move I have to change." I shifted slightly so I could move away.
"You're not going anywhere. For once kiddo's not going to be disturbing us." He turned lying on his back and making me lie on his stomach. He wrapped his hands tightly around me.
"LG" I whined
"Yes mrs"
"I'm not your wife yet you need to stop calling me that."
"It never stopped me before."
"You can wait a month can't you" I tried to push myself up.
"Month" he almost shouted
"I have already waited 7 years"
"7" my eyes popped out
"You forget you were my girlfriend before my fiance" he whispered in my ear.
"Shut up"
"I'm not waiting a month we're getting married next week" he said
"Arnav!"
"I can't wait anymore Khushi I've been away from you for long enough" he said with a puppy face. I raised an eyebrow up.
"LG" I gave a sarcastic smile "you're a bad liar" I pushed him and quickly got out of his hold. "Bollywoods films don't work with me."
"Yes they do" he got up and was about to pull me again but I stepped back.
"Arnav I really need to get out of this dress" I said my face now dropped.
"You can't go in your room Anjal's asleep." He pulled me again "and you're not leaving me" he made me turn. I just looked down with a sad face. "You can wear my t-shirt and tracks."
"That'll do" I quickly moved away and ran to the wardrobe.
"Okay you're becoming more like Anji day by day" he said as I looked through his things.
"No she's becoming more like me" I said and shut the bathroom door. He quickly changed into another pair of t-shirt and tracks while I changed. I walked out only to find him already asleep. A small part of me was upset but revealed. I got into the bed laid next to him. He pulled me close, his arm wrapped around me in a tight grip. "Love you" I whispered
"love you too" I whispered back and fell asleep.
We were woken up with a big bang. Anjali came into the room and jumped on the bed. "I hate you guys" she whined
I rubbed my eyes and sat up on the bed. Arnav kept his arms around me and keeping his eyes shut. He knew his girl could calm down his sister. He didn't need to do anything.
"Kido what's wrong?" I asked
"You two left me alone in that room. Not fair!" I smiled at her dropped smile.
"I'm sorry kido we both know how bad your bhai is" I said playing with his hair.
"Khushi" he said against my stomach.
"Bhai you're not nice" she moved closer to me and tried to push him away.
"Khushi tell her to leave me alone" he said lazily
"Bhai you're not even sorry after what you did" she said hitting him. "you left your little sister all alone" she used an extra sad voice. He finally got up leaning on his elbow.
"Last time I checked you were a 13 year old girl, wearing heals and make up. When did you become an unfortunate little girl" he said earning a glare from her. She starting whacking him on his arm I was stuck in the middle as the two argued again. I quickly lifted her away from him.
"Stop it you two, kido go change I need to go make breakfast. And Arnav you need to go to work. Come on" I got her to stand and walk out after giving Arnav a peck. I was changing in the bathroom when I heard a knock at the door. "One second" I said before I heard a click. I quickly turned in my towel to see Arnav standing there staring at me with intensity. "LG" I shouted "get out"
"Are you sure you want me to?"
"Yes you idiot" he didn't instead he moved forward
"Arnav" I whined "nooo" I laughed as he kept moving forward
"You should be like this more often" he was an inch away from me.
"BHAI, KHUHSI" we both heard a shout before he could get any closer. I laughed as Anjali's timing
"perfect" I said
"Yes perfect, every time" he said giving me a peck and leaving frustrated. I quickly changed into a pair of jeans and simple top.
"Khushi what are your wear I left your clothes out for you" he said as I walked into the kitchen. He was cooking something with Anjali.
"Isn't that my line?" I asked checking what they had made
"You the one that said you don't like Bollywood films" he said
"I didn't say that, kido what did your bhai make?" I asked her only to get no reply "what are you two up to?" I asked looking at the two.
"I wish I could tell you, but bhai won't let me. And I'm not even going to be there so what the point" she said and limped out.
"LG what are you doing?" I asked turning towards him
"Making breakfast" he said hiding his face by opening the fridge
"Raizarda if I catch you doing something wrong your dead" I said hitting his head
"And if it's something good" he closed the fridge and leaned against it.
"Then nothing" I winked and walked out
"Not fair" he shouted behind me
"kido" I sat next to her on the dinning table "what's wrong?" she was about to speak when Arnav walked in with a tray of food.
"Don't say it kiddo" he warned her
"Not fair" she said under her breath. He laughed at her
"Will someone tell me what's going on?"
"NO" they both shouted making me jump
"Fine Bhai but I get to pick her dress" Anjali said
"Already Done" he said as I filled their plates with food
"What!" she shouted
"You got to pick her party dress" he said taking a sip of his tea
"but you changed that" she stated
"That's why I picked 4 dress she can pick one"
"Bhai!"
"Okay that's it tell me what's going on"
"We're having a pr..." Arnav cut in before Anjali could spill the beans
"Anji"
"Bhai you didn't let me pick the dress you should get a punishment" she said
"I will you're not letting her sleep next to me today" he said biting his toast.
Pre- cap hmm what's he planning
CHAPTER- 63- THE PLANS
The next day
"Khushi your phone's ringing" Anjali shouted getting dressed in her outfit.
"Leave it" it had been going off all day since the interview was aired on TV. We had known that people would be calling to congratulate us. But this was too much I had things to do in the day. I couldn't sit around all day answering the phone.
The interview was a success, Anjali was the first one to see the edited version on Arnav's laptop. Although she was disappointed at the fact that she couldn't be a part of it. She still smiled loving the parts where she was mentioned. She had insisted on buying ever magazine and newspaper with our pictures in them. After she had seen a few when we visited the office in the morning even though they were all the same Aman didn't complain and ordered them all for her.
Anjali's smile had not dropped with the mention of the wedding. Because she knew Arnav and I had set everything in place. They would be punished for what they did.
This morning
When I woke up in the morning I could see Anjali sleeping peacefully on my right. We had stayed up half the night talking. She had to me everything she had heard that night. How she felt after it? And why she hadn't said anything so far. I couldn't blame her for staying quite all these years after all she was just a child as confused as anyone else. We Adults sometimes stay in silence due to fear and she was just a 7 year old.
"Can I come in?" Arnav had popped his head in through the door. Anjali had kicked him out last night I was surprised he didn't sneak back in during the night. I put my finger on my lips indicating to him to be quite. I got out of bed and walked towards him out of the room. It was best to let Anjali to sleep a little longer.
"You didn't come in last night?" I asked when he shut the door.
"Heard you and Kido talking late last night didn't want to be kicked out twice in one night" I laughed and he pulled me close for a hug. "What were you two discussing?"
"NK and Shyam" his looked down at me. I felt his hold on my waist increase a little.
"What about them?"
"I wanted to know the full truth" I said to him "I didn't want others' lives destroyed because of those two"
"They practically destroyed our lives they deserve what they get" he said in anger.
"Arnav" I said in a low voice. "Are you forgetting NK's getting married?" He looked away from me. "I know you, in rage you would have taken a drastic step which would make you regret later"
"I'm never going to regret" he said looking back at me."
"You will, if I tell you Sheetal was a bigger part of this then NK"
"What" he said with a confused expression.
"Yep," I nodded "Sheetal took a photo as to Shyam's wish"
"Anji told you that?" He asked
"No, but it's not hard to figure out that the picture was Photoshop." His eyes were staring at me intensely waiting for me to continue. "You were sent the messages from her phone Arnav. Kido told me how she overheard Shyam talking to NK about how he had convinced Sheetal to help him."
"NK's
"He didn't do anything Arnav other then, hid the truth"
"That's enough for me to..."
"Then will you also punish Anjali, she too hid to truth." I felt Arnav's grip tighten around my waist. "I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished. I'm just saying leave him for now till..." I could feel Arnav's confusion, this unease with this topic. If it was up to him he would have killed the two. "Till the wedding, I don't want his fiancee to suffer because of him. Spear her on her wedding day."
"Fine but I'm not spearing the other two" he said in a no nonsense tone.
"I wouldn't want it any other way." I smiled at him while he thought of some devilish plans to destroy both Sheetal and Shayam together. "Professional's yours! Personal's life is mine" he said
I raised an eyebrow "meaning?"
"Let's get to work" he ushered to the kitchen. "I need breakfast" he said I knew it wasn't going he wouldn't tell me, the idiot liked surprises. "And we need to go to work"
"Today?"
"Did you forget the promise I made to kido? I looked at him with a questionable look. He didn't need to read my eyes to know what I wanted to hear. "Your first job is to fire them, so as one of the managing directors of AK and our new lawyer." He must have seen the unease on my face because the next words to leave his mouth were only encouraging.
"Don't be nervous if you need any help our senior lawyer will be there to help you. And I know my Khushi she won't need any help." I smiled at him before he learnt in to me to give me a kiss. I stopped him.
"Did you forget something LG?"
"What" he said in frustration.
"You promised kiddo you'll take her with us when I start my job for the first time" I was to turn walk out of the kitchen but was stopped by his hold on my hand.
"Wake her up later" he said with my back still to him
"LG I haven't brushed yet."
"What!" He released my hand. "Then why did you stand so close to me? I was wondering what that smell was" he practically shouted. I turned around in anger and saw him smirking at me while hold his nose as if something smelled.
"You idiot LG, don't ever come near me if you think I smell" I stormed out in anger. He chuckled once I left no one could ever understand how much he loved teasing his girl.
I quickly freshened up and got dressed, while he made breakfast to make up for his earlier joke. I also woke Anjali up and told her to get dress she could not be any happier about knowing we were going out.
"Khushi come on" Arnav said as we drove to work
"Bhabi forgive him now" Anjali tot tried.
"No way, I'm not talking to him" I replied
"Kido your bhabi's to stubborn" he said looking back at him sister who was dressed in a simple white dress with a beautiful net design that ended below her knees.
"Kiddo I wouldn't have been mad at him if he had not put messed with my breakfast." I looked out the window so I would have to see Arnav's smirk. Instead of apologizing he had thrown a large amount of garlic and onions into my omelet this morning. It just increased my anger stupid man was out to prove that I stink.
"I thought you like that stuff Khushi" he said in a not so serious voice.
"No, you were trying to prove that I smell" I still didn't look at him.
"And why would I do something like that?" he asked
"Ask yourself you fool"
"Khushi I have to kiss that mouth, I wouldn't make it stink purposely."
"Yes you would to make more reeking jokes."
"Never knew it was a crime to make what your fiance likes." I didn't reply there was no point arguing with him. He looked back at his sister then signaled her to look away. She readily agreed hoping it would end our tiff. He then stopped the car and yanked me towards him. I looked into his big brown eyes seeing love with a mix of mischief.
"These lips I mine, I can make you eat what I want" he said as my nose flared.
"Really? Last time I checked LG they were on MY face which makes them MINE" I point towards my face.
"Last time I checked you were MINE" he argued back while pulling me closer. "I love everything that's mine regardless of the smell" he said pecking my lips I then heard him whisper in my ear. "I'm addicted to your smell" I quickly pushed him back and moved away.
"LG your sister is sitting here" I said as he straightened up.
"So..." He just smirked and continued driving. Anjali turned to see my cheeks adored by a red blush and Arnav smirking. It didn't take long for her to realize we were back to normal.
"Bhai were here" Anjali shouted as she opened the door and jumped out.
"Careful" we both shouted she wasn't well yet but insisted to walk without help.
"She's as stubborn as you." I said walking behind her.
"Says the girl who refuses to talk to me since my prank" he said coming out and handing the keys to the valet.
"So you admit you did it on purpose?" I stood next to Anjali in front of the large glass doors of the building with a shaded AR sign.
"Why did I have to admit it when I knew you knew?" He smirked only to earn a punch from me. "Khushi you do realize were standing in front of my office?" He said holding my hand in place.
"So you own the place do what you want. And anyway I'm messing with my fiancee who is yet to step inside his office." I smiled back at him. He loved it when I demanded my right on him without any hesitation.
"Can we go in now?" Anjali whined we both nodded and laughed at her impatience.
Arnav wrapped his arm around me as we walked in with Anjali in front of us. There was nothing to hide this was our family, our world and his office. My heels clicked on the marble floor as eyes turned to acknowledge our presence. I in one of the dresses Arnav had got me. An off cream dress with a hint pink the black embroidery at the top of the dress complemented Arnav's black suit. Aman joined us in a few minutes with our schedules. "Khushi the papers you have asked for to be prepared are done. You just need to check over them. Arnav you have a call with Mr Kapoor in an hour"
"Has everything been put in place?"
"Will be in a few hours" Arnav nodded and took the file from his hand.
"I'm bored" she said before running off to the sitting area to pick up a magazine.
"Kiddo" I shouted "be right back" I walked over to her with a steady speed. My eyes traveled around the large open floor reception. I could see everyone's eyes on me. It felt like deja vo. After all I had been through this once before. Just like last time I had come to the office. Employees were once again looking down on my through the glass walls of their respective floors. Even though I knew this was bound to happen a small voice at the back of my head did ask me if day's at work would ever be normal. I guess not! I was now living in Arnav's world.
"Bhabi look" Anjali said holding up one of the newspapers with a picture of Arnav and I on the cover.
'The world is meeting my world'
they had used the exact quote I had thought they would. I glanced at the cover of the magazine Anjali was now flipping through.
'Business tycoon ASR states he's soon to marry'
"This one talks about the interview." Anjali said
"They all will be" I said
"Ohhh yeah" she kept looking at the pictures.
"Where's your brother gone?" I looked around the hall but didn't spot him.
"Aman Bhai" Anjali shouted running up to him.
"Kiddo calm down you're in an office" I said to her but when would she ever stop having fun.
"Aman bhai I want Alll the magazines that wrote about Bhai and bhabi" she said looking up at him.
"Kido they will all be the same" I tried to explain.
"I don't care I want All of them"
"Anji why do you want them?" Aman asked
"So I can show all my friends" she laughed there was no point arguing with her she was as stubborn as her brother.
"Aman wheres Arnav?" I changed the subject.
"I don't know thought he would be following you like always." I gave him a angry look while he laughed.
"He was with you last"
"Yes but he's like your little puppy" Anjali laughed at that. "Always following you"
"He never follows me, anyway where..." I was cut off by his voice.
"I do always follow you Khushi. Don't moan at Aman when he's telling the truth." He walked up to us then took a step back seeing my angry face. "Okay, now stop wasting time and let's get to work" he said turning me towards the lift.
"Aman bhai don't forget my..." Aman smiled at her
"They will be in front of you in a few minutes." She jumped then ran over to Arnav and Me.
"This room looks so cool" Anjali said stepping in "I have good taste" she said proudly.
"Stop taking the credit for everything kido" Arnav said taking me to my seat. "Will you please take a seat MRS Raizarda
"I'm not that yet" I said looking into his eyes.
"So I can call you that a few days early." I laughed and sat down Anjali sat opposite to me.
"Now let's get to work" she sat with both her arms on the table with a serious face. Arnav and I couldn't help but smile.
"See you girls in a bit" Arnav said after giving Anjali a kiss on her forehead and me a peck on my lips. "Where are you going?" I asked he stopped at the door.
"While you do the professional I have to do the personal" he said then walked out. I was more confessed then ever but like always had to be patient with this man. The next few hours few by, I got engrossed in typing a new contract for Shyam and Arnav his plan. Aman had come into my office after an hour to give Anjali her magazines. I took out a few minutes from my work to glance at all the articles and have some clowning around time with Anjali. We laughed and joked at the tales that had been written. All the articles had their own ideas added to give it some extra spice with catchy headings.
'Collage sweethearts finally united' this looked so cute I couldn't help but smile.
'ASR too tie the knot with his girl'
'Mystery girl revealed'
'ASR as never seen before'
A real man'
Not so perfect but perfect for her'
'Two Lovers who are made for each other'
Love bring out the best ASR'
He was Always mine, she say'
ASR's Boss' Anjali and I rolled around laughing reading this there was so much unknown truth in this.
Millions of hearts break as two unite' I thought of rani here, I hadn't spoken to her since I returned to Delhi, I had to speak to her after all she helped me a lot in Lucknow. I called my secretory asking her to get her details for me.
After a few hours Arnav walked in only to notice me working my computer and Anjali on her phone "are you girls not done yet?" he asked
"Almost" I said not looking up from my screen
"Are you done?" I asked
"Yep" I only got a one word answer he was definitely up to something. He looked at his sister who was so busy with her phone she hadn't even notice her brother. "kiddo" he said only to get no reply, "kiddo" he said again there was no answer
"She's talking to Charlene she won't answer you right now" I said not looking at him.
"I hate that guy" Arnav mumbled
"You hate any boy near your sister" I said getting up "I'm done lets go"
"how will we go she's not moving"
"Kido" I said once and she looked "let's go say bye to Charlene"
"but..."
"Speak to him late" I said walking to Arnav with a file "all done" he was about to take it but I stopped him. "You can't see this till you tell me what you up to" I told him. He smirked he knew he couldn't hid anything from me.
"You'll know tomorrow" he said
"Then you'll see this tomorrow" I told him moving out of the room with Anjali.
We drove back home as fast as we could, we had to get ready for the wedding and Arnav needed to be there early. After all he was family and I wouldn't want him to miss out on the event. When I arrive a dress was waiting for me and Anjali after putting mine on all I could think of doing was to argue with Arnav. It was beautiful but still
credit to the up loader
Chapter 62 - World, Meet my world
"Well you shouldn't have left me alone last night" she moaned biting into an apple.
"Kido stop complaining, you're not a kid anymore"
"You still treat me like I am"
"That I will always so" he pulled her cheeks with a smirk.
"Bhai" she whined and whacked his hand. She gave him an ASR look. "Let me tell her or else"
"Or else what?" He said eating the slice of apple of his fork.
"I'll... I'll... "
"You'll what?"
"I'll delay your wedding"
"What!" He shouted dropping his fork.
"Yep" she looked back at him with his signature smirk.
"You can't do that" he said trying to ignore her
"Want to bit" she put her hand out. He hesitated for a second after all that was his sister. She could plan just like him.
"Anji shut up" he chose to step back.
"Afraid" she said
"Nope" he didn't look at her.
"Khushi" Anjali turned to me.
"Bhabi" Arnav corrected her
"Not yet" she smirked again. "KHUSHIII" she said it load and clear.
"You do realize I was here when you made the bet with your brother"
"See you can't fool my Khushi" Arnav said proudly.
"Don't get too happy I'm not marring you anytime soon."
"What why not?"
"You hid to many things from me" I said getting up to put my plate away my breakfast was done. Once I left the room Anjali spoke.
"Told you I can delay your wedding" she smirked "don't mess with me" she said with pride getting up from her seat.
"Anji I'll get you back for that" he shouted to her back.
"Bhabi" she said coming up behind me.
"What now I'm bhabi again?" I asked looking at her.
"You were always bhabi, I just say Khushi to wind up bhai" I giggled and high fived her.
"Love it"
"After all someone has to have to right to mess with the great ASR."
"Really" he said with an angry face coming up to us. I stood still for a second and so did she.
"Bhai don't try and scare us. We both know you never win against us" he looked at his watch then his sister's expression that showed she would never stop arguing.
"Anji if I accept defeat, will you let Khushi go change?" she thought for a second.
"Yes"
"Fine I lose" he said, not knowing what they were fighting about
"Excuse me no one asked me if I wanted to change."
"Were letting you pick an outfit that's enough"
"What!" I shouted
"I'll help" Anjali volunteered.
"Nope you're staying in your room." Arnav said
"I'll go once she's ready."
"Anji..." Arnav was about to argue.
"I'll leave before the come promise" she pouted
"Fine"
"Hello I'm not changing till someone tells me what's going on"
"No one's revealing anything" Anjali said pushing me out.
"Arnav what did you do to my kiddo"
"She was my kido first" he shouted back at me. Watching from the side of the kitchen as a 13 year old pushed me up the stairs. He couldn't help but chuckle at his family. "They be here soon" walked to the hall insuring all the arrangements were perfect.
When I entered the room I was slightly shocked seeing the four dressed laid on the bed for me. Resting with them was matching jewelry and shoes. The first dressed that caught my eyes was the navy blue fitted dress with corsage detail on one shoulder.
I then looked at the brightest dress there. It was so my colour, something I would like to wear on a good day. After all colours celebrated life and this one represented the sky, the freedom to. It had silver beading work on the waist of the dress after which the dress flared.
"Woow bhai got sooo many nice dresses" Anjali jumped on the bed. "He never choses such nice dresses for me" she whined. She ran her hand over the beading work of the bright dress then over one of the cream dresses.
I looked at the beautifully designed dresses sitting beside both similar yet different both a shade of cream with black applique work. There was only an inch difference on the knee. They were perfect for work. I would probable wear one on my first day. 'But what was a dressing for right now'
I looked carefully at all the dresses hoping that it would help me figure out what I was dressing up for. They all had a modest neck and hem line. They all screamed elegance, grace, style, professionalism, and royalty. I never thought Arnav would do something like this for me. So much effort but for what I still didn't know. He was never bothered about shopping but here it look as if he had put thought into each dress.
'What was he up to?' A voice in my head asked me.
"So which one do you like the best?" Anjali asked after seeing me lost in my thoughts.
"You're asking me?" I raised an eyebrow "I thought you would chose for me"
"I would but if bhai finds out he won't be happy"
"Since when do you listen to him?" She just giggled. I picked up the blue dressed then turned towards the mirror.
"Wooow" she said I then picked the light cream dressed with a longer hemline. "Pretty" I put on one of the shoes to see how it would look.
"So?" She asked I exchanged both dresses in front of me time to time confused at which would look best.
"It would be simpler to decide if I knew what I was getting ready for" I said with a smile trying my luck.
"Nope" she said laughing at me.
"A girl can try" I smiled then walked in the bathroom to change in to the blue dress.
___
Arnav went to open the door after her had received a call from the watchman informing him of their arrival. He walked towards the door and opened it to welcome his guest. "Jennifer nice to see you again"
"Hello ASR"
"Come on in" he stepped aside letting Jennifer and her camera crew in "you can set up near the sitting area." He said pointing towards the living area.
"Thank you so much for doing this ASR"
"I should be thanking you; after all you had come here on such short notice."
"This is going to be front page news. Everyone's waited years for your conformation. I couldn't let this opportunity go. When I got your call I came running." He just gave a small smile and nodded. He knew why he was doing this after all people should know who he is committed to.
"Ma'am should we set it up here" one of the men asked
"Yes would be amazing having that in..." Jennifer said staring at our huge Collage with his family and mine.
"No! Face the other direction or the seats." He interrupted Jennifer facing the camera man
"But..." She was cut off
"That's personal" she nodded there was no need to argue. She would only lose the great opportunity she was about to get.
"Other direction"
"So where is your lady love?" Arnav just smirked
_____
When I came out Anjali was limping trying to drag my heels around the room.
"Not yet ready for heels" I stated an indirect no to wear heels.
"I thought only bhai hated me growing up" she moped in a low voice.
"You will grow with time not any faster." I stood in front of the mirror analyzing the dress. She threw the heels in different corners of the room.
"Can I wear them?" I asked raising an eyebrow. She finally looked at my outfit. I saw her eyes widen and a huge smile form on her face.
"You look beautiful" she said running over to me. "But..." She looked down at my dressing table.
"Make up?" I asked "is it really needed?"
"Yep, but simple, you're not going to a party" she said as I picked up the eye shadow plate. 'Party' that was now crossed of my list.
"Which shoes?" I pointed to the black suede shoes with a sleek toe shape from the mirror. "Here you go" she put them in front of me then ran to the door.
"Where are you going?" I asked
"To my room... I have to get back to my room before..." She stopped for a second and hit her head she was about to slip it out.
"Before?"
"Before bhai kills me... BYE" she shouted from the corridor.
I walked out of the room and stopped at the top of the stairs. I saw a huge camera with its back to me. There were also many smaller cameras. 'What are they doing here making a film? Did Arnav take my Bollywood statements seriously, he joining the industry? What kind of surprise is this?' I thought to myself. Just then Jenifer turned around to look at the room.
"Khushi how nice to see you again" she yelled from the other side of the room.
Arnav turned after hearing that loud announcement of my arrival. I saw his eyes widen a little as they travelled over me. It looked better then he thought it would. The dress fitted perfectly over my curves, the colour complimented my skin and hair elegantly rested on both my shoulders. 'Royal' was the word that clicked in Arnav's head. He stepped forward with a smile to lend me his hand. I smile back and put my hand over his taking a few steps down.
"So this was your surprise?" I asked keeping my eyes on him
"Like it?" He smirked
"Was it needed?" I looked a little disappointed he knew I would be after all I was not used to this attention.
"It time for the world to meet my world" he said I couldn't help but smile. His phrase told me everything I needed to know. I felt a teardrop pricking my eye. "Don't ruin your make-up" he leant forward and whispered in my ear. "Actually I'm sure they wouldn't mind waiting for you after all women are always Fashionable late" he chuckled and I hit him on his shoulder.
"Could we start ASR" Jennifer said wishing she had captured the adorable scene she just witnessed. She could now only hope she would get some opportunities throughout the video.
"Sure" he put his arm around me and led me to the sofas.
"Can we get some pictures of the two you together?" The camera man asked. Arnav looked at me I didn't need to read the question in his eyes I just nodded in reply. I kept my hand wrapped around his arm as we took a few simple photos. A smile on both our faces and the engagement ring in full view for the world to see. Arnav bent over to whisper something in my ear.
"This is going to be in ever newspaper and magazine tomorrow." He said with a smirk
"I figured that out LG" I whispered back
"Really how?" He raised an eyebrow. He didn't think I had any idea of his statues or reputation in the media.
"You really don't know how crazy ASR's fans are" remembering Rani and her crazy scrap book.
"And you do?" He raised an eyebrow
"Had met one not longer ago" I said
"Really who?" I didn't answer but instead looked at the camera man. "Let me guess it was you" I laughed at his words
"Why would I be a fan of something that's already mine?" His eyes widened
"Then whose fan are you?" He asked I just smirked and walked of the sofas.
"Khushi" he whined and sat next to me. "Who?" he whispered.
"Shall we start?" I asked Jennifer choosing not to look at Arnav I knew he was angry. A jealous Arnav was always amusing. Unfortunately for his lovely fans it was a sight only I had the license to see which meant he needed a little cheering up.
"One second" Jennifer took a seat opposite to us.
"Is LG grumpy?" I said in a mocking voice
"No" he replied in a stern voice. He was showing his ASR averter as if it he didn't know that didn't worked on me.
"Lard Governor, the world's going to see the jealous ASR."
"I'm not jealous"
"Really? Then show me the smile I love so much"
"No, first tell me who is guy you were talking about?" we were facing each other not bothering of the ones around us.
"What guy?" I shower a confused face. "When did I ever get time to look at any other man? Last time I checked my world was my LG" I saw a smirk appearing on his face. "Don't" I warned with my finger I knew he was planning to give me a kiss. "Look at the camera" I turned his face to the reporter.
"We're ready" the camera man said
"Good" he pulled me closed to his body. I looked at him wanting to tell him to move a little but instead he entangled out hands together, my left with his right then rested it on his leg. "ASR how should I address your fiancee?"
"Khushi" he said knowing it was what I wanted. She nodded and directed the camera man to begin.
"ASR would you like to do the honor of introducing us to your special lady." She spoke in a clear ever so sweet voice.
"I would love to introduce you to my fiancee Khushi Gupta." He had a smile on his face one no one would have seen before.
"So rumors were correct you are engaged?" She said liking this new ASR
"I had never denied the fact that I was engaged. I was just waiting for the right time"
"Why is now the right time?" He turned to look at me.
"Khushi has finished her law degree and the Raizarda Empire is at the height I had wished to see it at." He looked back at the reporter with pride in his eyes.
"So is this a love marriage?" A question she thought she already had the answer to.
"Any doubt?" He smirked
"Khushi we all know ASR as a rough Business Man how can one fall in love with a man like that?" Arnav gave me a cheeky smile.
"I knew him before he became ASR for me he is my Arnav." I looked at him with a tender smile that was only filled with love.
"Before ASR..." She paused for a second "that's about 5 years, how long have you two known each other?" She asked astonished .
"Nearly 8 years" I told her with a genuine smile.
"School sweethearts?" There was excitement in her voice. I nodded as I felt Arnav care my hand with his thump. "So how did ASR ask you out?"
"We were friends first" I glanced at him from the side of my eye. "He would probable kill me if I told you ever detail of how he had asked me out." I said knowing this fact to be true after all Arnav had failed 6 times before finally asking. "I can tell you that it was in typical school boy style. Leaning against the wall dressed in a white shirt, blazer and tie we stood in the school corridors during break. When he finally said what he wanted to he wasn't even looking in my eyes."
"Was that the shy ASR?" She giggled Arnav was looking at me he wasn't sure how he should react. Normal he would show some fake anger towards me. He couldn't tease me like that right now.
"No it was the nervous Arnav" I could feel Arnav's eyes on me he wasn't angry after all this was my story to tell. "Asking a girl to go out with him."
"Okay now we know how he asked you out. Do tell us how he proposed?" I smiled remembering the romantic proposal. Yes it was a bad night but it was also the most special night of my life. I had loved every moment till the end. After finding out the truth I guess I would now only remember the wonderful moments of that night.
"Well that was probable the most romantic thing he had ever done" I glanced at him and showed him my huge signature smile. That was probable all he needed to confirm that the night no longer held pain for me.
"Romantic and ASR?" Her eyes widened
"You could never imagine how romantic he is." I had a huge smile on my face.
"We would love to hear"
"I think I'm going to keep that to myself." Arnav didn't argue something's were best kept to ourselves.
"What! But we all want to see the romantic side of ASR"
"Unfortunately that's for my eyes only." I pressed my lips together to suppress my smile.
"Can we at least get a glimpse?" I looked at Arnav again he was just smiling.
"Let say it had everything a women would have asked for: From rose, to dancing and even a treasure hunt." I giggled at the last bit.
"She going to keep the rest to herself" Arnav said not wanting anymore to be reviled. Jennifer couldn't argue with ASR she thought to ask Arnav another question.
"So ASR how did it feel when you got a yes?"
"I never actually got worded yes" I looked up at him "it was more of an unspoken yes" I looked away a little shy.
"Ohhh that's quite romantic" Jennifer said
"Khushi did you know ASR had some of the biggest and best jewelers called. He probable went through thousands of rings before picking the one you're wearing now?" He cares my ring trying to stay composed he thought I probable didn't know.
"I had heard about it a few days ago" he tried not to react to that.
"What do you think of that?" He turned to see me expression.
"He's crazy, but I guess every guy goes through their own crazy routine to find their perfect ring" I laughed at him.
"But this was more than that" she said.
"We all know Arnav's a perfectionist, He may hates to shop sometime but" He smirked. "He wouldn't have stopped till he had the perfect ring."
"And I found the perfect one." He brought my hand close to his mouth and kissed it.
"So what do you think of it?"
"It's beautiful, a part of him with me always" I pressed on his hand.
"Which is why she never needs me, having the ring is enough for her" Arnav joked. Jennifer was shocked as well as the camera man. They had never seen ASR smile let alone tell a joke or laugh.
My mouth was about to drop but I quickly pressed my lips together. I looked at him with a glare. "Jennifer you going to get me into trouble."
"I thought ASR's the boss in this relationship" she said
"I wish" he muttered
"That means ASR really has met his match." There was cheekiness in her voice.
"I had a long time ago" He smiled
"So why the secrecy? You never said you were engaged."
"Like I said Khushi had to finish her education and I had to manage the business. I couldn't have her privacy compromised." I smiled with pride and gratitude.
"Now?" Jennifer felt she was seeing a protective side of Arnav.
"Now we have no excuse to wait" he chuckled.
"Does that mean wedding bells are around the corner?"
"I hope so" he grinned
"If he was given a choice we would be getting married tomorrow." He smirked at that "see" I pointed towards his face.
"Why not? Would be marrying the women I love after all." We were facing each other again.
"You're going to be marrying her sooner or later" I said
"Why are you still waiting?" Jennifer
"We have one member of the family to think about when planning the date" I said knowing we were worried about whom to leave Anjali with after the wedding and her school dates.
"So soon" Arnav said
"ASR has never been known for his patience" he winked at me after hearing Jennifer.
"Who knows that better than me?" He gave me a small side hug when I looked at the reporter. "Arnav has never been a patient person. He still hasn't leant to be after all these years." I wanted to leave a peck on his cheek but it was not appropriate.
"His one flaw?" Jennifer asked
"He has many flaws" I said giggling at him
"I'm only human" Arnav tried to argue.
"It's fine, I've learnt to live with them" I said
"You could trainee him?" Jennifer winked at me.
"She already has" Arnav remarked
"Really is that even possible. How?" She was excited once again.
"She has me doing household chores" Arnav said waiting for my jaw to drop but it didn't.
"I didn't ask you to make breakfast this morning" I said with a composed expression.
"ASR cooks?" Her eyes widened
"Quite well actually" I answered.
"Thank you" his big ego was taking over again.
"But!" I said closer to him "when he cooks you know he's up to no good."
"Khushi" he whined
"And what no good' was he up to today" she was enjoying this new side of ASR and our childish acts. I just nodded a no which was enough for her to understand that I wouldn't say anything about it.
"If he gets more than one compliment from me he gets a little big headed. So I think I'll keep this to myself" I couldn't tell her this interview was a surprise.
"Khushi how do you hope to fit into ASR's world?" She changed the subject.
"I don't need to fit in. My space has always been vacant standing by for me to take my rightful place. Rest of his world can fit around us." He smiled sitting next to me. I knew he was probable thinking of a naughty remark to make.
"He has been matched with many women over the years do you feel any threat?"
"There never was a threat. Fortunately for me Arnav was always mine and I his." He left a feather kiss on my hand.
"ASR we have always seen you quite furious and opposing the articles. Was this why?"
"There's only ever been one woman in my life. And that needed to be made clear. Till we were ready I did not want my name to be matched with anyone else's." He was a little serious now.
"Your life will change once you become Miss ASR are you ready?" She asked me
"This day has come after a long wait. I don't think I could be any more prepared for it."
"ASR are you ready for your world to change?"
"There is no change for me." He looked at me "She is my world always has been. The only difference now is that" He looked at the camera again. "The world is meeting my world." The smile on his face showed how much in love he was. No one could question him after seeing this expression on his face. His worlds would touch every woman out there. This was probable going to be the line many newspapers would use as their headline.
"So after marriage you'll still be working?" She asked me I nodded
"Why wouldn't she? Khushi loves her work and I think AK will be losing out if we don't have her working with us" Arnav answered for me.
"ASR you had been missing from the media for a short period after your parents death" I felt Arnav grip on my hand increase. "Some say Khushi's family was also a part of the tragic accident. Were you two together?" I moved the hair that was blocking a little bit of my face as a way to cover my expression for 2 seconds. I pressed on Arnav's hand as a silent support. This topic would always be touchy for us. But we had now learnt to move on with this topic. We had accepted that our families where no more. There was still be pain but not as much after all we knew we had our family.
"Yes we had both lost our families in the accident. We were not together at the time. But after it I was with her which is why I was missing." He looked straight into the camera.
"I'm guessing London?" He nodded "And your sister?"
"She had stayed with Khushi thought out the unpredictable circumstance."
"Were you not worried? After all according to our sources 2 weeks after the accident you had left for London"
"I didn't have to worry about them as long as they were together. I knew all would be fine. Khushi had handled everything there giving me the time I needed." I looked down I knew he was thankful for what I had did. His words now showed how much he appreciated it.
"But I'm sure she herself needed support" I was a little scared Jennifer's questions were going to hurt us soon.
"Which I did get and still do." I answered looking directly at her. This was no lie, I had always felt Arnav by my side.
"Do you miss your parents now?"
I spoke for us this time. "We both do like any child would while getting married. 1e also know their blessings are with us. This was their dream as much as ours." Arnav smiled looking at me he remembered my father promise and his mother blessings.
"So they approved of this relationship"
"They couldn't wait, her family wanted to get rid of her and mine, me" Arnav joked earning a light whack on his arm.
"Is this the real ASR?" She asked enjoying this new side of him.
"Yes, the childish Arnav who likes having paint and snowball fights, when he's not annoying me." I smiled and shook my head as if it's a tiring job looking after him.
"Which is why my family had no problem handing me over to Khushi, she never complains." There was a hint of cheekiness in his voice but it still held gratitude. "She looks after me and my sister like a mother." Both the camera man and Jennifer couldn't help but smile. There seemed to be an unsaid understanding between us that they noticed. We may have been childish but there was also a maturity. We appreciated the others presence in our life, one that we were not afraid to talk about.
"You sister approved of Khushi?"
"Before my mother" he turned to look at me. "She was the one that introduced you to mum right?" He asked me I nodded in reply.
"She recognised me at the supermarket and told your mum who I was."
"Please do tell us the story."
"Well it's not that interesting"
"Please"
"She met my sister when we had gone bowling with a group of friends." Arnav said "she had also come to play there with her friends. They had clicked so well, from that point she no longer sided with me."
"She likes Khushi more?"
"She still does" I smile he finally admitted it. Now I had recorded proof I would use against him later.
"And Mrs Raizarda?"
"I remember the day she came home after meeting her. There was a huge smile on her face. She knew from her first meeting she wanted Khushi as her daughter in law"
"Khushi what had you said in that meeting?" Jennifer asked
"Nothing, I was on the opposite side of the aisle when his sister nudged her mum. Saying that's Khushi! For some reason she already knew who I was"
"My sister can never keep anything to herself. She probable told mum about her meeting with Khushi" Arnav answered before the question could arise.
"We just had a pleasant conversation about collage."
"She came to me after that and told me how she thought only Khushi could get me to achieve what my father wanted which is why she always had Khushi over for lunch and dinner."
"So she's the reason for your success?"
"Unfortunately for me I can't take credit for anything I have achieved." She said making Jennifer smile
"How did you meet her parents?"
"There was nothing unusual about that. We always went out in a group with her sister and her fiancee. One day when I went to pick the girls up Khushi dad meet me. I guess I was luck because he didn't get all protective father on me."
"My sister already played the protective sibling card on him. So he was clear." I said with a huge smile remembering how she dropped the bookshelf on him.
"You two seem to represent the couples of our21st generation you have seemed to find happiness in the smaller thing. Your love story is simple yet complicated. You may have been continents apart but time and space had not reduced your love. Your statues and egos have not over shadowed your love like we do with couples now days. You have driven the others success while always supporting the other. It was truly a privilege to meet you two." We both nodded with a humble smile. "ASR after this I don't think anyone will have any doubts about how much you love Khushi. And Khushi a lot of women will envy you after today. Congratulation in advance for the wedding"
"Cut" the Camera man shouted
"That was amazing thank you soo much for this" Jennifer said
"It was our pleasure" I said and Arnav went back to his ASR mode.
"Jennifer I want to see a edit version of the interview before its telecast and I will approve all the picture. Send them to me first."
"Sure thing ASR, give us few hours you will have it. We were hoping to telecast it tonight"
"I'll check it then send it back" the crew gathered there stuff and proceeded towards the door.
"Kiddo you can come down" I shouted from down stair.
"Khushi wait for them to leave." Arnav said behind me
"There done she can come down" I didn't listen to him and shouted again "kiddo"
"ASR she is the boss" Jennifer laughed. "Hope to see you again soon Khushi" I gave her a small hug before she left. Arnav shut the door after them.
Anjali came running downstairs the next minute. "How was it? Did you have fun?" Anjali shouted
"Yes was fun but was also a BAD SURPRISE" I looked at Arnav
"What bad surprise? Why?" he asked
"That was a shock not surprise" he walked of when he heard my reply.
"Stop lying you love every minute of it. Who wouldn't live being picture with the great ASR and anyway you don't get showed that easily." He said with a hint of mischief
"ohhh so great ASR did this for his image?" he abruptly turned around
"Do you really think that?" he asked
"No I think my Arnav did it for me. So the world knows no one can break us" he smiled at me and then pulled me into a hug. He would have kissed me if Anjali was not there.
"hey did you to forget me?"
"Never kiddo" I pulled her with us.
"Okay guys come on I'm hungry" Arnav pulled back
"Again" I shouted he just smirked
"Kido I asked Aman to bring over the dresses for the wedding try them on before the wedding tomorrow night" he smile dropped
"i thought the weddings in two weeks" I said
"NK's stupid he told you the wrong date" Arnav said then bent down in front of Anjali "Anji i will take care of everything just enjoy the wedding then I promise I wont leave them." she smiled a little he then looked at me "Khushi fires job when joining the company will be to deal with them" he smirked and i just looked at him confused.

Chapter 64 The wedding
"Bhabi are you done yet" Anjali shouted waiting outside my room.
"Kido give me one minute" I tied the string at the back of the dress then open the door. Anjali stood there wearing a purple full sleeved top with simple silver beading detail and an elegantly embroider green flowing lengha. She had tied he dupata on one shoulder to ensure it wouldn't come off. It seemed like she was leaning some tricks off me. She looked beautiful, our angel was looked so grown up.
"Wooow Khu... Sorry Bhabi you look beautiful. Bhai really knew what he's doing when picking dresses for you" she smiled at me.
"Shut up!" I said trying to stop her teasing and pulling her in to the room.
"I know I do" I heard Arnav shout from his room. I quickly shut the door so he couldn't come in.
"Now your hair" I sat her in front of the mirror and did her hair for her.
"Girls why is the door locked." I could hear him pulling on the door.
"So you can't come in" I shouted
"Why not?" I could hear his anger rising. "Khushi" he shouted only to get no reply.
"Bhabi why are you not talking to him." Anjali turned her head to look at me.
"Because your brother has lost it" I said making her laugh.
"I can hear you girls from out hear" he shouted.
"SO!" We both shouted back then giggled. No matter what when it was about teasing Arnav we were one.
"Why are you not talking to him?" She whispered
"Tell you later, let's just say I miss colour" I waited till I heard Arnav's footsteps disappearing into the hall way.
I quickly finished tiring her hair then did very light makeup she was already so beautiful she didn't really need any. "Perfume" I asked picking up one on my bottled.
"Not that one, that one" she pointed to a pink round bottle. I sprayed a little on her hand then showed her how to wear it.
"Bhabi can I wear this ring?" She asked me politly holding a small green emerald ring. I felt a little hesitation in her voice.
"Sure but won't it be a little big for you?" I asked as she slipped it on.
"Yeah its tooo big" she said as it fell off.
"Here give it to me." I took it and then pulled out a similar coloured ribbon from the drawer. I tied it to the bottom of the ring making it smaller. I then slid it on to her finger
"Yay!" She shouted as it fit perfectly to her.
"A little adjustment and all my items can fit you" I smiled as she ran towards the door.
"Kido rest of your jewelry" I shouted before she opened.
"I don't want to wear anymore." She whined
"But you look bare. Only a little come back" she made a face then stood in front of me. I put a small necklace and some earring on her. "Perfect" I left her hair out at the back with only a little resting on one shoulder. She had a clip in it holding it in place.
"Let's go down" we both walked out only to be greeted by a grumpy Raizarda.
"What took you girls so long?" He whined not even bothering to tell us how amazing we looked. "No come on were getting late"
"LG first tell us how we look"
"Good like always" he had already turned away and was now fiddling with his phone.
"You stupid Lard Governor Don't..." I stopped when he began walking away as if he couldn't hear me. "Arrr" I stomped my foot in frustration.
"Bhabi forget him, he's doing it for attention" Anjali said trying to cheer me up.
"Well he's not getting that tonight" I said walking down with her, holding my clutch in a tight grip to suppress my anger. I got in the car and noticed Arnav had decided he was not going to look at me. He kept his eyes on the road, his face showed he was angry but this body was relaxed. I pressed my lips together suppressing my smile. 'LG did you forget your Khushi knows you'
"Kido" I said softly "the wedding ceremonies at 7 right?"
"I don't know" she shrugged her shoulders. "Bhai what time is it?"
"7" he spoke in a higher tone then required
"Then why are we going so early look it's just 5:30" I said. I knew it wasn't really early actually it seemed we were running late after all when we got there it would be 6 and the place would be full of people.
"Have you forgotten Khushi, I'm FAMILY" once again he spoke in a harsh tone.
"Ohh sorrry I forgot the Lard governor cares a lot about his FAMILY" he pressed on the breaks abruptly stopping the car.
"I do care about MY FAMILY" we we're both shouting but it seemed as if it was on another issue.
"Why are you shouting at me?" I said wanting to know what the real matter was.
"Nothing" he was about to move the car but I pulled up the handbrake. "Khushi" I just raised an eyebrow in reply.
"Kido wait her for a second." I leaned over and pulled out the car key then opened the door. "Out"
I said shifting back to my side to open my door.
"What! no!" I didn't listen and walked out.
"Khushi you can't..." He stopped shouting once he shut the door behind him. He pulled me toward the corner of the car so Anjali could only see his back and not my expressions. "Finally" he said smirking
"What!" I looked at him shocked
"Was wondering how long it would take you too get us out"
"What!" He smirked at me
"Can't flirt with my Khushi in front of my sister and had to find out why she's upset with me" I punched him on his chest after hearing him. His relax body made so much sense now.
"You idiot I was..."
"Worried" he completed me sentence "I know but if you and my sister gang up on me what do you expect me to do?"
"That was cheating, you made me assume you were mad" I looked the other way.
"As if you didn't already know I wasn't and anyway one's allowed to cheat if he's alone." The smirk from his face never fluttered. He knew how to mess with his Khushi like always. "Now step back let me examine my Khushi" he commanded
"Excuse me" I said just before he slightly nudged me back a further away from him.
"Enchanting"
"Cheesy much?" I raised an eyebrow
"So why were you grumpy?"
"I wasn't grumpy"
"Really? Last time I checked my to-be-MRS wasn't talking to me." I bit the inside of my lip to suppress my smile. And gave him an angry glare. "Khushi" he said again"
"You make me wear dull colours"
"What?" He looked at me confused.
"No one wears dull colours at the wedding" he raised an eye brow. "You made me wear white at the mendhi and now black at the wedding." He stared at my grumpy face. Holding his laugh back he spoke.
"You didn't like the dull colours"
"Not at a wedding"
"Wedding?"
He could no longer hold back he busted into a fit of laughter "LG" I shouted "LG" I said again to stop him from laughing
"really this is why your mad?" He said holding his stomach. I didn't answer his question I knew was being sarcastic.
I turned around to move away from him but he pulled me back. "I like you in white I wanted to see you in the same colour I had first see you in Indian wear" I tried to remember at what he was talking about but my thought of mind was broken when he whispered in my ear. "And I find you sexy in black" I knew he was smirking "by the way those two colours also highlight your blush." I choose to walk away before he got overly romantic. We would then never get to the wedding hall.
"We're getting late" I shouted opening my car door. I saw his smirk widen when I got in the car.
"What were you two talking about?" Anjali asked once we got in.
"Colours" he had a smug look on his face as we drove off.
"Colour? What colour?" She asked
"The colour of your bhabi's..." He paused for a second seeing my angry face. "Never mind"
"Bhai tell me"
"Later kiddo, I don't think I want to be brushed in the wedding photo's" he said in a cheeky tone.
"And who'll beat you?"
"Your..." He was cut off by his sister.
"Don't say bhabi"
"Why not?" He looked at her through the mirror.
"My bhabi's the best and she wouldn't hit you. You did the same in the interview to" she said with pride and an angry look on her face.
"What did I do then?" He was trying to act angry bur how could he. After all he knew his sister and to be wife were close. And he loved that.
"You told the reporter you'll get in trouble with bhabi. Making it appear like she's evil"
"What!" He shouted I couldn't help but smile. It seemed like I had my own
"Yep and you always doing something to make her mad" she said in a angry tone.
"I see now" he said
"See what?" She asked
"That you will always support your babhi"
He saw her smile at him "why not" she said then came forward to hug me on my side.
"I'm all alone" he said trying to sound grumpy but he got no sympathy.
"Yep!" Is the only reply he got as Anjali held me tightly.
"Fine be together I don't care but right now get back into your seat." She moved back and put on her seat belt.
"You jealous bhai bhabi will always be on my side?" She smirked like he does
"No why should I be? I'll have my baby on my side." He gave a prompt response.
"What baby?" I asked breaking my silence he gave a cheeky smirk in reply. "I asked what baby?"
"Yeah bhai what baby?"
"My baby of course"
"And may I ask WHO is this baby" I had a slight idea of what he was hinting to but I wanted he to say it.
"The one I will love so much that you two will be jealous"
"What who's that bhai" Anjali now became a little high.
"No one Kido he can't love any one more than us"
"I will, my baby"
"Bhai who's this baby"
"She'll be coming after a few months"
"When?" She asked
"Soon! I can't wait to see MY baby"
"WHO'S the baby" Anjali now shouted me and Arnav both shared a glance at each other Anjali was jealous and we could tell.
"Kido he's..." I was cut off by her
"No! Bhabi he loves someone more than US" we heard her sniffer
"Kiddo"
"Go away I don't like you" she turned her face away from him.
"Arnav stop the car" I said then gave him a deathly glare before getting out and sitting in the back seat with Anjali. I gave her a side hug and wiped her tears.
"Why are you crying for him? Look you ruined your makeup" I tried to make her laugh. "That's exactly what he wanted you know."
"Bhabi you don't" she took a big breath "he doesn't love us" I wanted to smile at her innocence.
"Kiddo I ..." Arnav was cut off.
"Bhabi tell him I'm not talking to him. If he doesn't love us I don't love him."
"Anji" he tried again only to see me tell him to shut up with a finger on my lips.
"Kido there is no baby"
"I know he said it's coming in few months" I smiled again and cupped he face.
"Last time I checked Arnav loved no one more than his sister the baby won't change anything."
"You KNOW who the baby is" she looked at me in shock.
I nodded then leaned in near her ear. "It will be your niece"
"What!"
"Yep! And anyway you know your bhai can't love anyone more then you so why are you upset?"
"Bhai" she looked at him with an angry face. "Didn't I tell you you're not allowed to have any kids right now? I'm too young to be an aunt" her mood suddenly changed.
"And anyway I will love her more then YOU. She will be my baby" She said with pride moving away from me. I smiled at her while Arnav silently thanked me with his eyes. "Now come on let's get moving" she said putting her seat belt on properly as it had move when I hugged her.
"Khushi come back to your seat" he said turning the engine on.
"No way she's staying with me" he held my arm.
"What! kiddo I'm not your driver"
"You should have thought of that before saying you love someone more than us." I laughed at the two it was clear who had won this fight. He just drove off content with his sister's smile.
We got to the venue in a few minutes. I had though procession was leaving from NK's house but it seemed like the two families had rented a hotel. Never had I seen an Indian wedding in its full form. We drove over a red carpet under large white pillars that had been decorated with the finest bouquets there was a large swimming pool on our right with rose petals and candles scattered over and an open field ahead. The car stopped at the end of the red carpet. I stepped out the helped Anjali down. There were dark orange garlands hanging over our heads off the pillars besides us. There were tables set all over the place with red table clothes that matched the chair covers for the guest. One the tables placed was an unusual center piece. It was a cake holder with no cake instead on the different layers they had placed different sorts of colourful Indian sweets and pastries, on the top layer was a bunch of vibrantly coloured flowers complementing the decor. At the far end of the field I could see a stage with drapes handing down, flowers and mirror hangings. High Gold chairs placed in the center for the bride and groom. It was truly beautiful an Indian wedding in all its glory. I smiled at the place that was bouncing with excitement. Guest had begun to arrive and the waiters were trying to get the final touches in place.
I didn't even notice when Arnav walk up to me and put his arm around my waist. "We're next" he whispered in my ear. My head snapped up at him.
"Shut up" I said seeing his smirk. "Where's Anjali?" I asked not seeing her around.
"She gone inside, let's go" we turned towards the large Victorian style building on our left. Never had I seen so many flowers on one building. There where lights hanging down the from the roof top of the building. Yellow and red garlands arranged around four floors with bells at the end of the hanging garland. I observed beautiful refreshing decoration you could tell which room was the bride's as there were lillies decorated on only one balcony. Arnav saw my smile and nudged me I knew he was asking what I was thinking. He always did want to know what I was thinking. I just shook my head I was about to walk but couldn't as he held onto me. "Speak"
"This place is beautiful" I said
"I know... But?" he knew something was wrong like always
"This whole day is meant to be for the bride. A day she's surrounded by her love ones: friends, family, colleague only to say goodbye."
"It's not really a goodbye she will see them." He tried to reassure me but he could see emotion bubbling up inside of me.
"I know but they lose all their right that day."
"Khushi ever girl goes through this."
"I won't" I whispered looking down. I felt a sense of in-completion today. I was in a country where I hardly knew anyone. Never did I think I will want this, but seeing the room now I could just imagine what was going on inside. A bride being showered with love by her family. Her parent's had probable waited for years for this day. Her sibling excited for her yet at the back of their heads they know it would be a sad day.
"Khushi" he quickly pulled me into a hug before my tears streamed down.
"I don't get my day to say bye, I can't..." Word got stuck in my throat. His grip around me tightened.
"Khushi you will get your day, I will make it complete." He pulled back and wiped the small tear drop near my eye. "Our family may not be big but it's ours." He said knowing that was all I really needed my family. I just dropped my head on his chest and held him tightly.
"So when is this day?" He asked in a cheeky tone. I punched his chest after which I heard him laugh. So what if my day was not going to be like one would imagine it to be I trusted my Arnav he would make it complete with our family. "Shall we go in?" He asked I nodded a no against his chest "why?"
"My makeups messed up" I pouted
"Well we can always sneak inside for you to fix it" he smiled "and anyways you look better with non"
"You would say that you have to."
"No I don't" he pulled back
"Yes every fianc does"
"I'm not like every fianc I'm special, I'm my Khushi's Fiance... her LG does things differently" he quickly turned me around and pulled me through a small door on the side.
There were people running around working women in yellow sarees and men in yellow kurtas. They had one thing or another in their hands. Arnav quickly pulled me though then into a smaller room. The staff uniforms where hanging off the racks and a small mirror.
"We don't have much time" he said pointing towards the mirror. I walked up to it and began fixing my makeup.
"How did you know about this place?" I asked
"This is one of the Raizarda hotels." I just simple nodded after all I should have known it was one of his business. Why else would my LG known. He only ever knew about what mattered to him.
"Done!" I said and with a big smile as I turned towards him.
"You look perfect" he said leading me out again thought the way we had come. I noticed Anjali standing there frustrated as she looked around.
"Where were you two?" She asked me
"We..." She cut me off
"Never mind let's go in" she ran up the stairs slowly through the large open doors.
Arnav led me in behind her. Inside it was crowded with people. There was silence, not because it was empty but because people had turned to look at me and Arnav. Some young girls had a frown on their faces, there aunties were looking at me with disapproval and the men had a stern business like look on their faces. I guessed their sense of jealousy in some hearts one that would never really be seen.
Why wouldn't they be after all we walked in with a sense of ora around us. We looked like a perfect couple with our eyes only projecting love. The interview had cleared all the doubts in their minds. Now not only was it clear that Arnav was not single but also that he was mine.
I was about to look at Arnav before I saw Arnav aunt walking up to us. "Great your here, where's Anjali?" she said looking around to spot her.
"Kido" I said knowing she was not to far. She was next to me in the next few minutes.
"There you are let's go girls we need still have so much to do. Arnav go check on NK he's in his room." I looked up at Arnav when I felt his hold on my waist tighten. I closed my eyes and gave him an assuring nod. Then indicating towards the lift, telling him to go upstairs before being dragged off by his aunt. Anjali held my other hand as we walk into one of the hotel rooms.
"Khushi here" she gave me a box and placed it in my hands.
"This?" I looked at her
"It was Arnav mum's she had kept this for you." She said holding back the tears in her eye.
"But I..." She didn't let me speak instead she put another box on top of the box.
"This is for NK as his bhabi it's our tradition that the oldest bahu gives this."
"Aunty I..." She didn't let me finish speaking.
"Come on let's go" she was about to pull me again but I quickly turned to look at Anjali. "Kido"
"Bhabi I'm not coming" I saw the hesitation on her face. I left my box in her hand then walked behind NK's mum. She knocked on the door only to have Arnav open it with a surprise expression.
"Aunty" he said
"Arnav first you come late then you waste time by standing in the way move aside. Arnav moved to let us in and walked with me. NK was sat in the room all alone. He looked nervous after all he was just about to tie the knot.
"NK where's Shyam?" She asked him I knew Arnav would have got mad behind me. I looked back at him and saw exactly that. I shook my head at him, trying to calm him down once again.
"Don't know where he is, been missing all day" NK answered.
"Khushi you can give it to him now." She said to me and I walked to him and gave him the gift.
"What's this?" He asked me I had no reply so his mum answered.
"It's our ancestral set your bhabi gives it to you and you give it to your wife tonight."
"Ohh" he stared down at it, I saw guilt in his eyes when he looked up at me. One I wished he had shown before.
"Let's go Khushi" I squeezed Arnav's hand on my way out with a small smile.
"Kido" I said when going to get her again. She had opened my gift and was looking down at the set.
"Kido" I said in a low voice she had a small tear drop in her eye. "Kido" I quickly ran up to her.
"Mum" is all she said I pulled her into a tight hug. "She brought this for you" she cried on my shoulder. "I was there" I pulled her back and cupped her face.
"Kido you can have it if you want your mum..." She cut me off
"No she got it for you. She has other things for me. I just..." I understood her unsaid words after all she was a kid if I missed my parents she would much more. I wiped her tears and held on to her.
"She's with us always will be with us. She's happy when your happy and sad when your sad. So why are you crying now? Do you think that will make her happy?" She shook her head. "Smile for me then" she quickly wiped her dry tears and smiled at me.
"Girls" Arnav said when he walked in. Only seeing us all upset he quickly ran up to Anjali. "Anji" he said his eyes asking me what had happened. I indicated towards the set placed next to her.
"What's that?"
"Bhai you're so stupid you don't know anything" she said with an angry face.
"What don't I know?" He was a little confused but still wanted to make her smile
"Mum got this for bhabi" she said
"Did she when?" He looked down at it again but didn't recognize it.
"Sometime back"
"Really so why you crying do you want it"
"Nooo" she stretched her words then pouted.
"Don't worry I'll buy you one the exact same" he tried to pacifying her.
"Nooo"
"Then? Okay I'll buy you two"
"Bhai!" She shouted
"What?"
"I don't want anything I'm happy for bhabi" she jumped up her bother didn't understand anything.
"Oh, then smile! You look like Khushi took your mobile." She pouted then gave him a smile.
"you now owe me two sets" she said getting off the bed Arnav and I shared an eye lock for a second. The argument had made her smile in a weird way. "Let's go down girls" I got up with Arnav.
"Hurry up!" Anjali shouted as we could hear sounds from outside "it's started" Anjali shouted all excited "Hurry" she pulled mine and Arnav's hand dragging us out of the room. When we reached the top of the stairs there was no one on the bottom floor. "See everyone left, hurry!" She dragged down the stairs "slow down kiddo" I held onto my lengha and ran with her. Arnav just shook his head and followed.
She breathed hard when we got to the door again. We could see the place crowded with people. Everyone dressed in bright festive colours chatting away about one thing or another. The waiters and waitress we had seen before in yellow were now serving the guest drinks and snacks.
I saw a few head turns in our direction. It only led to more whispers among them. I suddenly heard a big rush in the crowd after which we saw many flashes in our face. I quickly cover Anjali's eyes and brought her close to me. "Arn..." Before I could finish he had shouted.
"Guards! Guards" they came running towards us and made way for us to pass.
"Kido are you okay?" I asked once we were away from the media.
"Yep!" She nodded a little flustered.
"Sir I'm so sorry" the security head came running behind Arnav.
"Who the hell let them in?" He turned to one of the guards
"NK sir wanted them sir" he answered looking down.
"Waiter can I have a glass of water" I asked for Anjali sitting her down on a chair.
"Tell them to stay away from me, my fiance and My sister. I want the last few pictures deleted now" Arnav shouted
The waited came with a glass and I gave to Anjali. She didn't look too shaken but it was still sudden I doubt she was comfortable with it.
"Sure sir" he nodded then walked away
"Are you two okay? He asked looking concerned
"I'm fine, but kido looks a little shaken." I answered
"Anji there gone now and their not coming back" he knelt down next to her.
"I know..." She said then looked at the stage where the ceremony had begun. Arnav was still a little concerned he glanced at me. I saw then unspoken question in his mind I nodded with a smile assuring him all was good. Even after that there was still concern which died down but didn't vanish. I tilted my head towards her giving him a go ahead to ask her again.
"Anji you sure your fine?" His tone was soft yet you could see the anxiety.
"I'm fine bhai" she didn't even turn to look at him. She just kept staring at the stage.
"Let's go closer" he said seeing her face filled with intrigued. They both got up and were moving towards the stage.
"Khushi are you not coming" he halted and turn back to ask me.
"No I'm good you go." He stretched his free hand out for me I knew what he was thinking. I gave him a small smile and walked up to him. I couldn't let him feel incomplete and he was without me. Without his two girls with him.
NK's mother smiled at us when we joined them on the podium. For her we were family, Arnav and Anjali filling for their mother.
The couple to marry looked perfect for each other dressed in matching traditional wedding attires. Her pink wedding lengha complemented his cream sherwani. A radiant smile adored the brides face and a sneaky grin on the grooms. Both hesitant to look at each other after all eyes were on them.
I felt Arnav put an arm around my waist I glanced up at him. The smile on his face wasn't for NK but was for the dream behind his eyes. One that was now being reflecting in mine.
"Love you" he lipped I moved a step closer to him and we watched the ceremony pass before our eyes. The rest of the ceremony passed in the blink of an eye. The two smiled as they were officially tied together with hope for a life together. Anjali was the first to step of the stage I gave I quick congratulation to the bride and followed behind.
On my way down I spotted Shyam with Sheetal in a corner, I felt a pain in the pit of my stomach after all the two were responsible for my separation with Arnav. They looked tense as if something really wrong had happened. I ignored then and got down tomorrow would be the turning point for Shyam's life till I would give him one last day of freedom.
The next few hours I enjoyed with my family the way I was meant to, Arnav was free today, fully enjoying himself like he always did when with us. The only difference was today he was doing it in public he didn't care what they thought about him when he laughed, joked and danced. After all he had his world with him and he was relishing the moment. After lunch we had a few people come to our table to wish us. Arnav and I had tried to ignore them the whole evening but it became a little hard when they were his business associates. I had to literary force him to leave us for a few seconds. Unfortunately for me the wishes for the both of us so when I two had to step aside Arnav couldn't help but smirk.
"You're trapped to now" he said in my ear holding me by my waist as few people came to see us.
"Congratulation you two" one of Arnav's acquaintances said
"Thank you"
"I never thought you would be the type of guy who was hiding his love."
"Yes why hid a girl like this" his daughter said I recognised her voice it took me a second to remember where I had seen her. At the club the day Arnav had took me to the party.
"The limelight does not affect how we feel for each other" I said with a
"Fame is ASR's world"
"Maybe, but it's only a part of Arnav's"
"Just like you" her mother said I could tell the green eyes monster behind her eyes.
"Khushi is My world" Arnav said shutting them up.
"Nice to see again Mrs Khanna, Mr Khanna I'll see you at our next meeting" he said closing the conversation and greeting the next load of people. I felt his grip tighten around me after that point.
"Sir" The security head was back again
"Yes"
"I'm sorry sir but the media want a picture of you and ma'am. I have had then delete all the old ones and now they have nothing so... I tried to..." Arnav cut him off
"We're coming"
"Are we" I raised an eyebrow
"Does my fiance mind?" I shook my head in reply. I looked back at Anjali who now looked bored and tired.
"On one condition we leave straight after kido's tired" he looked at Anjali then agreed with a nod "Anji we'll be right back" she nodded like her brother. Arnav then led me to the side to where they were supposed to be waiting. We posed for a few photos with Arnav arm around my waist and me standing close to him. My black lengha looking great with his black suit we looked like we were here to outshine the bride and groom. Arnav wished the happy couple just before we walked away.
precap - execution of plan
The end of the journey is finally here!
Last chapter all
😭 the final good bye to my first FF, this story was very close to my heart, I hope it touched your heart as much it touched mine.
ANd im really really sorry to everyone i had made cry, or upset.
Ten year leap
His foot tapped on the polish white marble, his heart racing and blood pumping. His hands crossed and uncrossed each other, 'what was taking so long?' the question ran in his mind. She had been in the delivery room for hours now and he was becoming more and more anxious. It was not the first time he was sat outside a waiting to hear the good news however this time was different, it felt as though his heart was in his mouth. He had never seen her in pain, never let anything hurt her. How could he stand outside now knowing she was in dyer pain? His hands felt tired as he waited.
Behind the two hospital doors miracles where taking places. Ones only mothers go through, a blessing placed upon them as well as a curse. They all went through the pain no man could understand, one they would soon forget after they had their miracles in front of them . He suddenly looked up when he felt someone tap his shoulder.
His little girl, Additi her chubby legs balanced on the white metal hospital bench that contrasted with her patent black shoes. Wearing a lose white knee length dress with high neckline and no sleeves. There was a crossing blue and black stripes print throughout the dress. Her long black locks tired in two pigtails with ribbons of top. Arnav brought her closer and sat her on his lap wrapping his arm around the 4 year old.
She was daddy's princess, her brothers' doll and her mum's baby. She was the real life of the house, her bubbliness brightened the place. Being the youngest out of their kids she was a little spoilt for attention and with love. In most situations she was calm. She not only looked like her mother but also behaved like her mother, her commends were obeyed by all. She was also as caring as her mother. At such a young age she could already read the worry on her brothers' faces.
"Daddy" she said resting her head on his shoulder. Her eyes were on her brother which Arnav had failed to notice. He didn't really know what was playing in his princess's mind. Arnav thought she was tired just like his other kids. He wished he could drop them home but he couldn't leave them nor her. He knew he had responsibilities but what can a man do his heart was here and his wife was busy. He held his little girl close to his heart hoping she would get some rest and he could get some relief knowing at least she was okay. The next moment he felt a pat on his shoulder, his 10 year old son looked as stressed as him.
Stood in pair of dark jeans, a red, black and white long sleeved checker shirt with the button all done up making him look smart. The outfit was matched with white trainers and perfectly blow dry hair. Anyone who'd seen a photograph of Arnav's as a boy would know his eldest was his replica. He had many of his features, but had a little more mature dress style to the young Arnav. If he looked like Arnav through his childhood everyone knew this would probable continue to his teens and beyond. Some would assume if he looks like father maybe his personality was like his mother they would be wrong. 'Like father like son' it's said his looks were not the only thing that matched Arnav, his behaviour, attitude, pride and love was all like his fathers. A mini Lard Governor was what he was. Khushi had handled not one but two LG over the years. Both would scream for her at the same time, and both would want most of her attention. it was harder when Avinash she was alone most of the time with her little help at school, only she knew how she handled both the Raizarda's for 4 years, till her second son was born.
"She's tired" he said, Arnav didn't look up at his son he knew his son was concerned and that his princess was tried but he was helpless at this moment. His mind told him his kids were too young to understand what was going on behind the doors.
"Avinash there is a vending machine there" Arnav pointed to a machine at little down the corridor. "Can you go get them some chocolate milk and a snack" he asked his son thinking it may help to distract his eldest. He nodded before walking back down the corridor.
"Daddy" his princess said again
"I know baby girl, Bhai's going to bring you some food soon."
"Where's mamma?" He turned his head to his 6 year old son Ashish sat next to him. His young son was bored, very bored and it could be seen through his body language. His white trainers moved back and forth one after the other as he sat on the metal white chair. He was wearing grey jeans and a white hoody with a black print at the front. His 6 year old was as mischievous as her eldest if not more. Some call the middle child the forgotten one, it was not in this case. Ashish would play pranks on everyone in the house. There was only one person who he spared, and that was only because she knew his entire trick. Arnav also suspected her of helping him in most cases. He was her little champ; his loyalty was always with her. In any other situation he would have been running around, the hospital corridor was the perfect place for him to play. But right now somewhere deep down in his little heart it just didn't feel right. He could see something was wrong with everyone. His partner in crime had been taken behind the hospital door.
Arnav stroked his son's head
"She's coming in a bit"
"Dad milk" walking in with two carton drinks and chocolate bars in his hand.
"Thank you" Arnav took a carton and gave it to Additi with a chocolate who fiddled with the packet. He then pulled out the straw and poked it in the Straw hole bringing the drink near his little girl's mouth.
She happily took it and began to drink it.
"Avinash where's your drink?" He asked seeing only two more cupcakes in the pack his son had brought.
"Not hungry dad" he said with a depressed expressing and began walking away.
Arnav knew when it came to her, Avinash was as protective of her as Arnav. He may be young but she was in pain and he wouldn't be able to bear that. He had heard her screams when she was brought to the hospital.
Arnav could see that his son was as worried as he was. They both needed assurance from her, they both needed to see that she was all right, she was well and healthy. No matter what your age is pain cased to a love one hurts it's unbearable. Our hearts feel connected; our souls feel the pain of another.
"Dad where's mamma" his son asked again.
Arnav glances at Ashish then back at eldest.
He picked his words carefully "she's gone to bring you a gift"
"What gift is she gone to get that's taking so long?"
"A precious gift" Arnav said "one that will be Avinash's responsibility"
"Bhai's" he look at his older brother who was now staring at his father "why Bhai's?"
"Because he is the eldest"
"But you said gift is for us? Can't we all get the gift?"
"You will all get the gift but it will be Avinash bhai's responsibility, just like he looks after you and your sister. He has to now look after the gift." Arnav smiled "she looks after him now he will look after her Gem"
Avinash eye were on his father the whole time. The Raizarda kids had a tendency to mature faster then most they understood thing from a young age. For Arnav and his sister it was because they saw hardship. He didn't let his kids feel what he felt, he didn't let his kids see darkness, instead he let them enjoy life as they grew and somehow that had helped his eldest developed into who he wanted to be, his father's carbon copy. Protective and loving over his siblings.
"Arnav" his eyes widened and body froze for a second, after he heard his name, he knew that moment gift had arrived. His head shot up to look at the women in black shoes, dark jeans, a high-low top and oversized black cardigan "you can see her now." His Khushi's voice brought peace to his heart. His kids jumped of him towards their mother.
They all screamed wanting to see the gift, wanting to see the one inside. His kids were more impatient than him, they had definitely got that trait from him. This time he couldn't use that as an excuse the real reason they were so jumpy was because they loved the women behind the doors. Sometimes he wondered if his kids loved their parents as much as they loved her. He smiles a little after hours of worry.
Arnav got up and stepped forward toward his wife. The radiant smile on her face told him, all was well. He couldn't help smiling back at her then nodding, thanking her. He entangled their fingers as their kids began to scream wanting to go in the room. Before they could say 'yes' their kids had already run through the adjoining doors. They were slow in this matter trained to run at her every call how could they manage now without her.
"She's fine" I whispered into my husband's ear. I watched him lean closer into me as if it would recharge his soul.
"You did well" He then said to me.
"You didn't do too bad yourself Mr Raizarda" I smirked at him.
"With what Mrs Raizarda?" He raised an eyebrow putting his arms around his wife pulling her closer.
"Your kids" I indicated to the door.
"Those devil children?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. I looked at him with an irritated expression.
"What can I say there easy to watch after all my wife has brought up the angels well."
"That's all you need to say" I leaned in to give him a hug. "You can go in and see her" I said knowing what his heart was feeling. I felt his hand on my back and knew what that must mean. "She's fine now" I looked up at him keeping my hands around his waist
"Just a little tired" he looked into my eyes and asked.
"And you?" He must have seen the unease within me. I had put on a brave face, withheld confidence and courage on our way to the hospital. After all I had three kids to look after, a nervous husband and a pregnant woman. I may have been as worried as Arnav but I could not have shown it. the pain the exhaustion the worry was still there somewhere at the back of my head, everything had happened so fast in front of my eyes. Now that the tension was over I could finally let my guard down and let him comfort me. I felt his hands moving up and down my back. The moments past through my mind, I had not been given the time to think and now I was finally processing what had really happened. When I had gone through the pain I had thought it was the worst pain in the world, seeing my angel go through it felt worst.
"proud of her" I said against his chest.
"You always have been" he chuckled a little.
"She did well" I looked up in to his eyes. "She always does" I said my voice low as my pride shun through. He didn't argue he couldn't.
"You know we need to check up on your kids"
"My kids?" I said keeping close to him.
"Yes they were well behaved today" he then whispered in my ear. "That's surely means there not mine" I laughed then sighed as I felt my eyes closed relaxing in his warmth.
"Maybe they were just worried about her like we were" I said without looking at him. My voice low as I felt calm and comfortable to receive the support I was now.
Arnav looked on a little shocked "How did you know?"
"I know my Kids, after all they are MINE" I said looking up and giving him a wink. He leaned down and gave me a kiss to show me what he really felt then.
Ever kiss felt like my first kiss with him. Not because it was soft, or new. It was because it always held a different emotion. There was always a mix of emotion when he kissed me sometimes it was care, sometimes fear, it could hold: adoration, gratitude or appreciations. But ever kissed held love, unmeasurable love. Love that has grown over the years with our signs to show for it they were our pride and joy, our reason to live for all these years.
"We need to go in" he whispered against my lips.
"You're really need to see her don't you?" he nodded in reply
"Sorry"
*****
The kids didn't wait they pushed the door open and ran towards the bed
"Bua!" their shouts echoed in the hospital room. The first to reach her was the eldest. Followed by Additi and Ashish
"Are you okay" Avinash was the first to speak.
"Yes I'm fine" Anjali said no one had noticed their uncle stood on the side near a cot. He helped the two young kids onto the bed knowing how fond they were of their aunt.
"You sure?" he asked again, Anjali found it hard to believe how this kid was 10; he was as protective as his dad if not more.
Anjali looked up at the little boy who she had always watched over he was now looking over her with concern filled eyes. He had placed his hand over her head like she had always done patting her, assuring her that it will all be well soon. Whenever Avinash had been ill she had done the same stood by his side assuring him he wasn't alone, assuring him that his aunt cared. She smiled pulling his hand down then kissed his palm. Her eyes would normally project this worry today when she was not well her angel was showing care and concern.
"Bua we missed you" her princess said crawling onto her lap on the bed.
Additi was crawling her way onto her aunt's lap. She found herself in her favourite spot, on Anjali's thighs. A place she had always found comfort she may have been her parents and brother princess, to Anjali she was her sunshine. A sparking star that always made her smile in the hardest times. Additi was just like her mother, a smile always adored her face it only increased anjali's love towards this little girl. Additi wrapped her small arms around anjali's waist and rested her head on her chest. She seemed to get closer than usual as if not wanting to leave her. Normal her star did this when she knew Anjali was would be going away for a short period, abroad. Anjali had always known how much Additi was like her mother, somewhere deep down Anjali knew what was concerning her star now. A baby with a six sense a way to recognise when something was wrong or someone she loved was in pain. She pulled Additi closer to herself.
The boy at the end of her bed just stared at her. It was as if the mischievous smile that always played on his face had vanished today. My hand stretched out asking him to come close. He obliged and took slow steps towards me. His small hands locked with mine as his elder brother helped him sit on the side of the bed. I pulled him towards me and gave him a side hug, kissing his forehead. Normally he would protest shouting 'err' but this time he didn't make a fuss he just stayed quiet.
I looked at the three kids surrounding me. The Angels in my life quiet today. They were the light in my life and had been for the past 10 years. Every single one special in their own way. Today when I looked at them I saw an unexplainable respect grow in my heart. Little kids, children the world would call them yet they understood more than adults, they felt more than adults. A little part of me wishes I could cover myself in some make up to hide my exhaustion, my pain. But I guess it was their right to see me like this, just like I would want to know when they were in pain.
Avinash had moved around the bed to my right now sitting behind his sister. The three now circled me. I pulled the three into a hug. I was blessed to have them in my life my angels!
"I love you all" I said whispered loud enough only their ears would hear.
"We love you" they shouted finally some life shun through their small bodies.
"Shhh" they heard a males voice from a far.
******
Arnav pushed the door open, we walked in with our hands around each other. The scene we saw when we walk in was nothing new yet it still shocked us. Our three kids being embraced by their aunt. And their uncle "shhhing" them from afar where a cradle was kept.
They laughed like they usually did when told to keep quiet. She was there world and this proves it. She may have her own little gem to now look after yet she would never forget her little angels. Whose smiles had faded for the last few hours. They may have been innocent regarding what was happening but they were not oblivious to the pain she felt.
She look exhausted, eyes puffy, hair messy, cheeks flushed. Yet there was a shine in her eyes. Telling us how happy she really was.
"You little munchkins, give her some space to breath." I said standing at the foot of the bed as my husband walked towards her slowly.
His hand went to rest on his sister's head he stoked her hair and looked at her with amiable eyes. Delight flowing out of his souls. Proud of the girl who had turned into a beautiful woman, who was now a mother. He had seen her blossom over the year. They had played, fought, argued, loved and grew together. Seen more than most yet still created a small world of their own. Time and Life had not changed their love. He glances at his kids and his sister, she cherished his kids, and now it was his turn.
He turned around his hand reached forward to shake with Charlene's he patted the guy on his back and leaned over the cradle. The bundle of joy was wrapped up inside a white blanket. Her eyes were still closed, her hands closed in a fist, it moved towards her mouth as she yawned. Her head turned and eyes slowly opened to look at him as he reached forward. He lifted her up instantly, with years of baby experience. I walked up to him and stood behind him. "She looks just like Anjali did when she was born." Arnav said remembering the new born baby he held as a 11 year old boy.
"Like bua, I want to see" Avinash shouted.
"We did a good job didn't we?" Charline's asked standing next to his brother - in -law
"My sister did all the work" My husband snapped back even after all these years Arnav had not lighten up with Charline's fully. They were good friends however Arnav kept a big brother relationship with him. Scolding him every now and then.
Arnav carried the little bundle towards his kids and slowly lowered her down for all to see her.
"She's so cute"
"She's so small"
"Like my dolly"
"Our new friends"
"She's going to be my best friend"
"She's going to play all my pranks with me"
"Yay I'm not the only girl anymore" Addit and Ashish shouted leaning over her.
"She's our new gift" my eldest son who had been a silent spectator spoke. Anjali's eyes turned towards him. There was a straight expression on his face he seemed unreadable. Silent today unlike his normal self.
"Your new responsibility" Arnav said handing the small angel into Avinash's arms. His expression softened, a smile slowly formed on his face.
"I'll protect her always" he said bring her close and giving her a light hug.
I watched from a far as my kids fussed over their new sibling. I felt proud of my kids, my husband but most importantly the girl lying on the bed. She had created a home for herself with the man she loved while also looking after mine. She was as young as Ashish when I had first meet her, she now not only looked altered Ashish she also had a family of her own, her life was complete as was mine.
"Proud?" I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder. My husband could always read my mind, he seemed to do it again today.
"Of?"
"Your angel, your son"
"Always" I replied looking into Anjali's eyes whose gaze had moved towards me.
"What are you thinking?" Arnav whispered in my ear.
"My angel is all grown up"
"You said that on her wedding day" Arnav whispered with a chuckle only to earn a glare from me.
"At that time she had become from a girl to woman." he raised his eyebrow "Now she's become a mother" I said pleased the smile on my face growing.
"She had become one 10 years ago" I looked towards him he had a cheeky glitch in his eyes knowing he was right. He indicated that I should turn my head. I saw my daughter sat on her lap, Anjali's arm embraced my younger son, and my eldest holding her baby carefully. All three swarming over the new member of the family there faces leant down a little laughing at her every move.
He was right she was really a second mum to my kids. I knew she wouldn't see any difference between then and her own daughter.
My husband and I had raised Anjali like their own daughter. Honestly speaking she was our own, our first child. We also had no doubts that Anjali would raise our kids if something happened to us. She was an angel and she had led their kids to grow up and be ones too.
"What's her name?" Ashish asked with a mischievous smile.
Anjali looked up her eyes met with mine "Khusboo" she said I felt my breath stop for a second.
I felt a squeeze from Arnav by my side.
"Khusboo, that's not A" Ashish. Whined
"But its K like mamma's name" Avinash
"Khushboo don't sound like mamma" he said
"Silly khushboo sounds like khushi"
"Khus, khus" Additi said bounding on Anjali's lap.
"Khushi ki khushboo" Arnav said from afar.
"Khushboo khushi ki" Anjali corrected him.
I had felt a shiver run in my body that second. Not out of fear but the emotional inside me was overwhelming. I felt Arnav's grip tighten around me it was now holding me up. My angle had just proven how much respect she had for me, how much she honoured me. Having a child named after you, it is normally a way to shows respect of that person in your life. Arnav and I had thought she would name her daughter after her mother but she chose to name her daughter after me. I stepped forward towards her, took the small bundle out of Avinash's hand and held the baby. i looked down at the baby, i could see a shadow of my first child Anjali in her eyes. 'Khushboo, happiness's fragrant spreading or in other words a fragrance of happiness spreading' that's what she would be called. That's what she would be, the one who spreads joy in this beautiful family of mine.
Im sorry i know im late but now my target is to complete this in 3 weeks 😕
Chapter 67- Execution of the plan
After a loud and eventful night it felt good to be sitting in the quotes car. The roads were clear ahead of us all you could see was the black tarmac. Such a contrast to the colourful atmosphere we had just been a part of. I looked back at Anjali who was fast asleep on the backseat her head rested on the armrest and legs bent on the seat. I took Arnav suit jacket that was on my lap and put it around her sleeping form. I glanced at Arnav who was looking quite tired now. As he turned to look at me I saw something saw something suspicious on his face. He was up to something again before I could ask him he switched on the radio.
"Arnav kidos asleep" I said giving him a small glare for being inconsiderate.
He didn't say anything instead I saw a smirk on his face. That just confirmed my suspicion my LG was up to no good. He hit my hand when I went to touch the radio. The last thing I wanted to hear we're the party songs at right now.
"Arnav" I whined
"Shhh kiddos asleep"
"Your tell me to keep quite? Your radio is louder than me."
"Trust me your louder, I would know" he said with confident and a mischievous smirk playing on his face.
"LG!"
"Shhh" he put his finger over his month. Anjali shifted in a sleep making whining noises. "See you just proved my point" he chuckled at my grumpy expression. I turned my head to look out the window, if he thinks I'm loud then I won't say anything. I could hear myself cursing him at the back of my head.
"After a sizzling number how about some sizzling news." The radio presenter began to speak
"Turns out our wild cat party girl is getting married. Yes you guessed right Miss Sheetal Kapoor the announcement was made early today by her father at a news conference after he announced his surprising new venture with Raizarda industries. Looks like daddy was not to please with the scandals pictures released this morning of his princess and decided to take this opportunity to cover up. The pictures showed her and her new fling Mr Shyam Jha coming out of a hotel room late last night. The news had come as a shock to the world, after all Sheetal was known for her love of rich men, who would of thought she would end up with minor recruitment manager. It seems like Mr Kapoor has had enough and has decided to get the two married off. We can help but wish someone could help him after all the countless times he has had to stop his daughter's name. Our guess is this time too is no differently as Mr Kapoor tried to cover up the little dignity she may have left."
I looked up at Arnav I knew he was up to something suspicious yes! He had done it he had attacked the twos where it would hurt their personal lives'.
Not only did he ruin the two characters inform of the world. They were now going to have to tie the knot. Becoming each other's for ever! I could help but smile they didn't deserve anything better than each other both cheats and manipulative. They had tried to ruin our lives and Arnav had done the same to them. Before I could say anything to Arnav the women began to speak again.
"How can we leave without telling you about the new collage sweetheart who have made everyone love struck? Mr Raizarda and his fiance Khushi had attended ASR's cousins wedding today. The two looked adorable both dressed in there black attires they not only complimented each other but the radiant smiles on their faces made us fall in love with them all over again. Our sources tell us the two are heading back to London in a few days to get married. We would like to wish the couple congratulation and good luck for the future" once again I had to look at Arnav I knew there was some truth in the last line. My heart began beating fast as I thought of marrying him my last incomplete dream would finally be coming true.
"When" I said in a whisper all I got in reply was a smirk. "Has Aman already booked the tickets?" I asked trying to get something's out of him.
"Yes" he said and that was it no further information. He switched off the radio and went back to driving. "LG" I whined he was not listing to me tonight. "You're useless" I turned to check once on Anjali then looked out the window again.
I knew the woman on the radio was right. If he had made arrangements for Sheetals and Shyam wedding to be announced there was no way he would let them speak a lie about his wedding. Did the mean we were going to be married soon? Did that mean my father's wish was going to be fulfilled? When were we leaving for London? And how did he know I wanted to get married in London not India? After all that was our first home not here. The only one who could confirm my doubts had become numb. "Arrr" I granted making Anjali move in her sleep again. I could hear Arnav chuckle beside me he could tell I was getting frustrated with no reply.
The car stopped as we reached the house and I quickly got out and opened the back door "Kido were home"
"Hmmm" she didn't move
"Kiddo up missy" Arnav said standing behind me.
"Pick me up Bhai" she said in a low voice.
"Lazy" he said I moved aside for him to pick her up then carried Anjali into the house.
"Kido get up and change" I whispered gently after laid her down on the bed.
"Hmmm" she dug her face into the pillow
"Come on Kido you can't sleep in this outfit."
"Khushi please" Anjali whined in her sleep
"Let her sleep" Arnav said behind me
"She has to change Arnav" I said moving her a bit
"She too tired leave it"
"Arnav she'll get scratches all over the place if she doesn't"
"But she's too tired to move" he argued
"You weren't talking for ages now when you are, you have to argue." I turned to glare at him for a second
"I'm not arguing I just want her to rest"
"She can rest after she changes, Kido get up please" I turned to Anjali again.
"She too lazy to get up, your just wasting your energy"
"Arrr" she jumped up "Shut up!"
She got out of bed and screamed while getting out of her night dress. "How's someone meant to sleep when you two are standing on their head?" She slammed the bathroom door behind her
Arnav and I looked at each other then began laughing. There was always a way to get Anjali to do the right thing. Our angel wasn't easier to handle but was manageable.
Arnav walked up behind me and held me around my waist "so Mrs to be Raizarda ready to leave?"
I turned around to face him "I would be if I knew when I was leaving for London" I said sarcastically
He smirked "you just need to pack rest is in my hands"
"What makes you think I'll trust you with my big day"
"Have I ever disappointed you?"
I gave him a big sarcastic smile "never" then pushed him back "but hands of my wedding Arnav"
"It's also my wedding"
"No one ever cares about the groom"
"Well maybe things should be different this time"
"NO WAY! You like big extravagant thing, I want a simple wedding" before we could argue any more Anjali shouted from the bathroom
"You two are never going to let me sleep" she opened the door "even now your arguing" she got into her bed and put the blanket over her head. You're not allowed to sleep here today I'm tired and you two are to loud."
"Fine by me" Arnav said and when I wasn't watching he lifted me up in his arms.
"Arnav put me down, What are you doing?"
"We were having an important discussion Khushi and I think we need to finish it" he gave me a peck to shut me up.
"Now will you put me down?"
"Nah I like us like this" I hit his arm and he finally put me down.
"So how did you do all of this?"
"well we had been planning our wedding for ages so I got Aman to make an official announcement." He said as I got out his night dress.
"Is that all you think about I wasn't talking about our wedding but the Shyam and Sheetal thing" I said handing him his clothes
"Ohh that, well they deserved it they ruined my personal life so I ruined theirs. Tit for tat!"
"Your luck Anjali's not here or I would have moaned at you for that. You're not like them you don't need to steep to their level."
"Well then its good she's not because I don't regret what I did"
"Arnav..."
"Khushi they tried to ruin our relationship, they were the reason I stayed away from you for 5YEARS" he shouted
"It didn't change anything between us"
"That doesn't mean I won't give them what they deserve"
"I'm not telling you, you shouldn't" he looked at me surprised
"Your letting me do this?" he raised an eyebrow
"I'm just not getting involved like you're not getting involved in my business." he gave me a smirk
"Now that something new for me Mr Raizarda" he pulled me by my waist.
"You're about to enter a new phase of your life LG maybe you should get used to new things."
"Then why don't we start now?" He was about to pick me up again so I quickly pushed him away.
"Not now"
"Khushi" he held my wrist "I need you to write up the contact for my new deals with Mr Kapoor.
"I let you do what you want Arnav I'll now do what I want. Didn't I say that a few minutes ago?" I raised an eyebrow
"Then why do I have to handle this?"
"I thought it was my lawyer's duty to make my contracts"
"Fine" I said with a smile then turned to leave he smirked at me from behind "by the way you have a meeting with him tomorrow." I turned back to glare at him.
Arnav laughed seeing me walk out of the room. His contract may have not made sense to me but he knew what he was doing. Sheetal was from an upper class family with money marring Shyam into it would have been a win for him. But this new venture would give Arnav control of that company and Shyams position in it. He would make sure in a few years when Sheetals younger brother was old enough he would take his rightful place not leaving anything for the cheating married pair.
----
Arnav walked into my room after he changed "Khushi" he shouted like he always did.
"I'm in the bathroom"
"Can I come in?" He shouted
"NO!"
"Was worth a try" he said getting into the bed.
"You didn't tell me how you did everything" I shouted from the bathroom.
"Thought you didn't want to know any of my business" he lent his back the head board with his arm rested behind his head.
"LG don't try and make me beg you know I won't" he heard me shout
"You already know nothing impossible for me"
"In not asking you to praise yourself I'm only asking you to tell me how you planned to convince Mr Kapoor to get them married?"
"That was the easy part, I called him yesterday to discuss the new venture with him and he was all for it. Then made the arrangement for the two to be caught in a compromising situation after the news was out..." He Stopped when he heard the door click I walk up to the bed and got in besides him.
"Finish your story" I said when he pulled me towards him for a side hug.
"We're was I" he first pulled me for a kiss after he was content he began to speak again. "After the news was out I called Mr Kapoor and told him how bad it would be for our companies. We came to an unsaid solution, and then he planned the announcement."
"More like you unconsciously tricked him into it"
"I gave hints rest was up to him. So now you know what I was up to why don't you tell me what going on in this little head of mine?" He asked giving me a kiss on the head.
"I had to wait till you plan was in action, now you have to wait till me plans in action." I slipped out of his hold and into bed. He didn't argue he would wait to see how she broke the news.
"Have you bags packed tomorrow our flight leaves in the evening" he slipped down
"Sure! but..." I couldn't finish my sentence as the door flew open. "Kido" we both whispered Anjali came running into the room.
"I can't sleep all alone on that big bed" she walked straight to the bed then got in without another word. Arnav and I looked at each other with a small smile. I shifted back to give Anjali more space to sleep.
"She's unbelievable" Arnav whispered I'm my ear from behind.
"Just like you"
"Shhh" Anjali said shut the two of us up.
The next morning was a disaster Arnav refused to get out of bed which was making me late. Anjali was sitting on the dining table refusing to have her breakfast because she had to stay home alone today. I was dealing with to babies who refused to shift.
"Arnav come on get up" I said for the tenth time this morning. I'd tied everything but nothing had worked. The room was a mess with the blanket and pillows thrown on the floor, the bed was crumbled with water splatters all over the bed. He was sleeping on a wet bed but still refused to get up.
"Arnav why you being lazy"
"Hmmm" he said the same thing he had been saying for the last hour. I was dressed and ready to leave and he.
"Arnav what's wrong with you today?" I asked now extremely frustrated at him. "That's it I'm leaving now without you I give up" before I could walk away I felt a tug on my arm and my feet lifted off the ground my bottom landed on his chest.
"Is that how it is when things are getting hard you leave?" He said looking at me with an innocent face.
"Made I should you two are becoming impossible" I felt his grip on me tighten
"That's not an option for you Khushi" he entangled our hands together. "I have worked too hard to have you leave me"
"Just like I work hard for my plan now get up!"
"Your plans more important than me and Anjali now"
"Never! This may be a temporary play but you two" I leaned in and gave him a peck "that's a lifelong plan" I gave him another peck "my family".
Arnav smiled looking at his girl, he could hear his heart skip a beat. He wasn't hearing anything new but it felt good to be told
I jumped out of the bed and shouted while walking out of the room. "Now get up I'm getting late.
"Kido will you please eat something?" I asked walking up to her
"No!" She whined
"I just got one Raizarda out of bed and now you're not listening" I said sitting next to her.
"I don't want to eat"
"Yes you do, you just don't want to stay home alone" I picked up a piece of toast and brought it to her mouth. "Eat!"
"Nooo" she whined again looking the other way.
"Come on Kido don't do this you know I wouldn't leave you if I didn't have to" I said
"Then take me"
"If I take you then how will you get time to pack?"
"Then don't go you have to still pack my bag"
"You start I'll help you finish"
"No! And anyway why are we leaving so soon I haven't even gone sightseeing yet tell Bhai to delay the flight"
I looked at her with a general face "why don't you want to go back?"
Arnav said "what is the left for you to see in Delhi?" walking down the stairs still in his night suit.
"Didn't I tell you to get dressed?" I shouted at him.
"No you only told me to get up and" he looked down at himself. "I'm standing"
"Arrr you two are driving me insane"
They both couldn't help but laugh at my frustration. "Fine! Kido I know your upset because you just heard about the wedding but trust me your Bhai didn't even tell me. He thought to make it a surprise. So cheer up and get on board or I'll make you wear an ugly bride's maid dress. And you!" I turned to look at Arnav "you have five minutes if you're not ready by then I'm taking the car and you'll have to stay home and help Kido in her packing. We both know how that will end up" I raised an eyebrow asking for his reply it didn't take him a second to think the next moments he was running back up the stairs towards his room.
"Are you really going to put me in a ugly dress?" Kido asked me with a fallen face she looked in the verge of crying. I cupped her face and spoke gently.
"Never your going to be my mini bride that day. All eyes will be on you."
"But I'm not the bride" she looked at me confused
"You're going to look no less than one. Now eat up or you won't fit into the dress" I said smiling at her.
I looked at my watch and saw it had been ten minutes. I gave Anjali a peck on her forehead then picking up the car keys bid her bye.
When Arnav came down he looked everywhere but didn't see me. "Kiddo where's Khushi?" His mind was debating over if I had really left.
Anjali's reply answered his question. "She left ten minutes ago"
"No way" he said under his breath. "Anji take care of yourself, keep the door locked and pack your bags" he shouted running out of the house.
His legs stopped outside the door. I was sitting there in the driver's seat with the engine running. "Your still here?" He asked I glanced at the clock on the dashboard
"Your 20 minutes late get it" he smirked at his bride she could never leave without him. He could deal with her anger later. I drove the car fast right after he shut the door.
"Khushi slow down" he said holding the door handle and acting like I was going to fast.
"Shut up Arnav I'm already late" he laughed
"That's not my fault Khushi you were sitting on my lap this morning" I pressed the breaks and glared at him. "Why did you stop? We're getting late now" he said dramatically looking at the road.
"Arnav don't you dare say another word." I warned him he turned away and smirked. I started the car again and listened to the satnav for directions.
"Khushi" Arnav said distracting me and making me take a wrong turn.
"You stupid Lard governor I told you not to speak" I shouted at him stopping the car again. "I just wanted to tell you you're going the wrong way" he said innocently.
"Did I not just tell you you're not allowed to speak? I took the wrong turn because of you."
"Khushi that was not my fault..." he tried to argue.
"Arnav not another word till we get to the office."
"But..."
"I said not another word" I pointed my finger at him. I started the car again and drove towards the office building. I drove through the big iron gates and stopped in front of the buildings entrance.
"Khushi" he shouted after I got out and gave the keys to the valet "Khushi" he shouted again and pulled me close to him behind the car.
"I'm sorry I was just teasing you" I don't look up at him.
"Truth!" I said in a low voice there was no way Arnav would behave like this when he knew I had important work to do. I smiled at me when could he ever really hide something from his Khushi.
"I got a call from Aman this morning when you were in the shower the media was outside the gates. I knew you would be uncomfortable so till they moved I kept you busy."
"In that case nicely done Mr Raizarda you didn't even let me get a hint of your stupid plan." I said with a sarcastic smile.
"It wasn't stupid, the jobs done right the media stayed away from you."
"It was stupid, how long will you keep running from the media. Arnav it's a part of your life you can expect to his me from it forever. It will all die down soon"
"But..." I put my hand I his cheek
"I know you care Arnav but you can't keep sheltering me from the world. You're not always going to always know when there coming. You have learned to live with them around and I guess I will have to do to."
"I don't want you to have to take any trouble"
"I'm not compromising; I'm just adjusting to this new phase in your life." I cared his face "before you complain know I don't have a problem with this, I know it will all die down after the wedding." I smiled at him after assuring him as much as I could. I rapped me arm around his "and anyway I need a few more cover pages just so the world know your mine" He laughed and escorted me in. I could hear the car finally behind move away. I guess it was waiting for us to move blocking us from the view of others.
We walked thought the front of the building and into the lift. I needed to get to my office see if the papers were ready and my plan was ready to be executed. Arnav hadn't disappointed now it was my turn once the door opened I was getting ready to speed to my desk. However it seemed I didn't need to my assistant was already standing in front of the lift waiting for me.
"Morning ma'am" she smiled at me "your papers" she handed me the file and waited for me to scan through it.
"That's efficient" I heard Arnav the could feel his breath over my head as if trying to peep into the papers "keep your head straight" I said pushing his head back. I could hear my assistant giggle.
"This is fine make a second copy and bring it to my office. Can you also send Shyam M Jha".
I moved towards my office with Arnav following "ready" he asked me.
"I hope so" I said with a nervous smile.
"Khushi it will all be go as planned"
I took a seat on my chair and Arnav sat across from me. We heard a knock on the door and I could feel me professional side ready to proceed.
"Come in" I said
Shyam strode in with a stern face he looked like he was about to shout at me but stopped seeing Arnav in the room.
"Khushi you ask to see me?" He said trying to keep his tone casual.
"Ma'am" Arnav said playing with a small marble ball on my table. He could see the anger on Shyams face an expression he could never see anyone give his Khushi. When Shyam turn to look at him Arnav repeated himself. "Ma'am call her ma'am"
"Ma'am" he pressed on the words hardly opening his mouth.
"Shyam this is for you" I gave him a small white envelope before he could open it I asked.
"Shyam can you get me a cup of coffee?" I said fiddling with some papers on my desk.
"Umm..." He had a confused expressing on his face. "Me, ma'am?" I looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes you, do you have a problem with that?" I asked
"No" he was turning to leave when I stopped him.
"Wait!" I turned to Arnav "Arnav do you want anything?" I asked
"No I'm okay" he said looking at me with a confused expression.
"Get him some water, and make sure there's a jug of water placed in my room every morning." I didn't look at Arnav nor Shyam I just looked through a file.
"Me?"
"Yes you! How many times would you like me to repeat myself?"
"Ma'am I'll ask someone to get it for you" he turned again but stopped when he heard me. "I thought I had asked you to complete this task"
"but..."
"You may leave" I said once he left the room Arnav looked at me confused. I picked up my phone and called my assistant. "Can you send some breakfast for Arnav he didn't have any." Arnav shock only increased
"Khushi?"
"What! I wasn't going to have you Shyam get you food even if that is his new position."
"Position?" Arnav asked confused
Shyam suddenly walked in slamming the door open. "What is this?" He shouted
I looked straight at him with confidence and Arnav jumped of his seat.
"Where's my coffee" I asked
"Forget the coffee what is this?" he slammed the paper I had just gave him.
"Watch your tone Shyam" Arnav interrupted
"It's fine Arnav" I gave him an assuring nod.
"Your demotion letter Mr Jha" I said looking at Shyam "I had promised you it last week" I said with a innocent face as if he should have known all along.
"What?"
"I'm about to marry the daughter is your bosses partner you think I need this job"
"Ahem, I'm afraid you have a signed contract that states you cannot leave without a two months' notice. To give us enough time to find your replacement. So until you get married, which seems like a year away you will have to stay in your new position as a clerk also none here as a peon." Arnav and Shyam looked at me Witt wide eyes
"So gentle men did you not hear me clearly?" I gave a big smile "should I repeat myself? I had said Mr Jha's new position is as a clerk. I expect you to report to Mr Chandra promptly at 8 everyday, your shifts would be 7 hours long with an hour unpaid break. You are to answer when call by any employee in this organisation. I do not wish to hear about any complaint regarding your work." I smirked at him "after all you don't want me taking action against you. So far I've only demotivated you to a clerk never know what it could be next."
"You can do this" he said leaning over my table in anger.
"Who's going to stop me?"
"I have my father in laws power behind me" he said in anger
"And she has the Raizada name" Arnav said pulling him away from the desk. "Don't you even dare to threaten my fiance, you may have gotten engaged yesterday but you forgetting I have known your father in law for many years now. My one call and you weddings off, it will be my word against yours" Arnav held his collar "apologise" Arnav said pushing him toward the desk he was standing at a few minutes ago.
"I'm sorry" he said gritting his teeth"
"Ma'am" Arnav repeated himself
"I'm sorry ma'am"
"You can now leave" I said
He turned and was about to walk out of the room when I stud deny saw his body falling head first the next second his face hit the chair. Arnav helped him up by pulling on his arm it seemed like it was harder than it was meant to be.
"That looked bad" Arnav said after seeing the blood oozing from his forehead. "Let me help" Arnav touched the wound then pulled his arm back. His finger fist as they came in contact with his face in full speed. My hand covered my open mouth in shock. Arnav had just given Shyam a black eye
"That looks quit bad you should really see a nurse" Arnav said sarcastically "why don't you head to the medical room I'll call to inform them you're on your way." Arnav turned to pick up the phone as Shyam covered his eye and stormed out.
"You just trip him?" I asked
"Maybe" he smirked at me
I couldn't help but collapsed on the seat laughing at what had just happened. The few days may have been but it was all over not our plan had been executed. Shyam had been destroyed professionally and personally, it seemed like Arnav had even destroyed his face. He had split me and Arnav up for 5 years and we had insured he would be slip from his dreams.
