This is such a beautiful story... Wonder how I missed this one. Also surprisingly this hasn't got many views, likes and comments. You should probably amend the title of the story... Something like gypsy...arhi love story or something more catchy...
And one more time superb👏

Yeah. Something like:
NEW FF: Gypsy OR New Arhi FF : Gypsy
Honestly, I don't like using the word 'Arhi', but it works 😆
Chapter 6
That evening precisely at 7 o'clock, a well attired Arnav went downstairs to greet his dinner guests; Naina, her parent's and her uncle. They were ushered inside and his Dadi, mother and Anjali greeted them, re-introducing Naina to him. He extended his hand and she accepted slowly.
"Hello Miss Naina," Arnav said politely.
"Hello, Maharaja Saheb," she replied softly.
"Please call me Arnav."
She nodded politely and he let go of her hand and studied her as she sat on the sofa with her mother and his family. She was of above average height and slim with her long but stylishly trimmed hair. She was dressed in a pale blue salwar kameez and simple yet stylish jewelry. She spoke softly and often deferred to her mother and father before saying anything. That told him that she was the easily managed and biddable type; she would never cause any upheavals. All in all, she was the perfect image of the prospective bride for him.
They progressed in to dinner and Naina sat on his right. He spoke to her occasionally. She replied politely but didn't have much to say, it appeared to him. As he studied Naina's profile, an image of a milky white yet blushing face with a head of wild black curls superimposed itself. For a moment he thought it was Khushi seated at the table. He shook his head to clear the image and wondered if his gypsy would be there at the clearing tomorrow. He smiled to himself at the 'his gypsy' bit but acknowledged that that was how he thought of her; his gypsy!

Khushi hung around her tent that day feeling morose. She was confusded about her feelings; at one point she decided that she would not go there and the next decided that she would; who was he to stop her, she wondered mutinously.
The answer came back in a moment; the Maharaja and the owner of that place, that's who he was!
The next morning, unable to stop herself, she went to the clearing again to wait for him. He didn't appear and it was time for her to leave. She turned to go when she heard a horse coming.
She saw that it was Arnav upon Sultan's back. She stood waiting for him. That day he didn't get off Sultan's back, instead approaching her on horseback while she stood her ground.
"So," he softly jeered. "Why did you come? Not because of my threat, is it? Does this mean the little gypsy feels something for me?"
His cutting words hurt her and Khushi stiffened slightly. Gathering her courage, she looked at him and shook her head to say no. His eyebrows rose at this. Determined to get the upper hand, he said,
"Then what does this mean?"
"I was just passing through."
"Oh you were, were you? Liar! Admit that you wanted to see me just like I want to see you every day."
Again Khushi shook her head, infuriating him further.
"Well I think you are confused Khushi. Let me clear your confusion."
He approached her and leaning from Sultan's back, he slipped one arm around her and pulling her until she stood on her toes, he kissed her.
She was not prepared for it. She had not expected anything like this. His kiss shocked her and she stood mutely in his arms for those few seconds. Her lack of response was like fuel to the fire of his anger. Letting go of her to straighten, Arnav said mockingly,
"I thought all gypsies were passionate people. It looks like you are a cold and unfeeling girl after all."
Pulling her close again, he kissed her once more, this time more deeply. Again she stood still. This time his kiss was expected but then she didn't know how to kiss even; she was too nave. Numbly she stood there, not knowing what to do and not wanting to displease him more. After kissing her wildly, he let go of her and taunted,
"Decide what is it; were you passing through or did you come to meet me and tell me when we meet next."
With these parting words, he galloped off, once again leaving her in tears. Numbly she made her way home only to counter a surprise.
Madhumati was waiting for Khushi and as soon as the girl came in, she launched in speech,
"Titaliya, you know that today the Sardar's daughter is getting married. He has asked if you will dance for them today."
"Why me Maayi?"
"Well being the Sardar he has invited several important people and as everyone knows, there's no one who dances like you my dear. Plus the Sardar and his family treat you better than other people do."
At that Khushi agreed; Sardar and his family were quite good people anyway. She nodded in agreement and went inside to select her clothes for dancing. She wondered who all the Sardar had invited.
*************************************************************************************
Arnav walked in for breakfast and saw his mother and dadi waiting for him. No sooner had he greeted them and they served themselves that Devyani broached the subject of Naina, their dinner guest the previous evening,
"Chhote, what did you think of Naina?"
"She seemed nice."
"Only that?"
"Well, she's pretty, well-educated and well-mannered as well."
"That's good. In that case, is it alright if we throw a dinner party for her next week?"
Arnav thought for a moment before nodding his agreement. He concentrated on his food, thinking that Naina had indeed seemed pleasant enough. In truth she fit the image of the bride a man in his position should have.
If a man felt that his prospective bride seemed pleasant enough, that marriage should not take place. It was obvious that there was no spice or chemistry between them except for pleasantness!!!!!!!
Arnav had nearly finished breakfast when Mamta spoke up,
"Chhote, the banjaara tribe that always camps outside the palace grounds; the Sardar's daughter is getting married. He gave us an invitation and I have accepted."
"Ma, are you planning on going there?"
"No. I have accepted on your behalf."
"Why?"
"From the times of your grandfather, the same tribe has camped there every year. While banjaara's are answerable to no one, they have always accepted our family as their kings and rulers. Your grandfather and father always honoured their invitations as a sign of respect. While there is no more royalty, the respect and honour remain. They have invited us and we must attend."
The explanation made sense. To his father there was no difference between the banjaara people and other people. A banjaara king had the same status as other kings who lived in palaces. If the neighbouring king issued an invitation they would attend so the same rule applied here as well.
"Of course Ma; I'll definitely attend."
That said, Arnav finished breakfast and got caught up in his business affairs until the evening when it was time for him to get dressed for the banjaara wedding.
