Chapter 46

Confused!!

Khushi wiped her tear stricken face immediately as she saw Garima and Payal entering the room. her heart pounded at the thought of them finding about her abortion. They were not even aware that she was pregnant, and now this?

She assumed by Garima's expressionless face that they have found out the same.

"Why Khushi? why did not you tell us this before?"

Finally, Garima asked looking straight into her eyes. Khushi never hid anything from Garima ever and this broke her heart even more when she heard her Amma's painstricken voice.

She felt suffocated inside the room, her eyes travelled to her family's faces. She could not hold back anymore, so she did what she was not planned to do.

She hugged Garima and sobbed. Garima patted her head lovingly as her own eyes filled with tears.

"I am sorry Amma"

She said sniffling while Garima shushed her. chutki and Payal could not believe just what had happened in few hours. They looked at the door as Lekhraj rushed inside the room looking all tensed.

"Khushi you had an abortion? Why did you do that? Arnav was all ready to marry you, then why did you do this crime?"

Lekhraj asked his eyes welling up with tears. Khushi looked at him incredulously as he blabbed.

"Why do you care so much? You got what you wanted, right?"

She struggled to get up from the bed but Garima stopped her and stood up instead, and stalked closer to him.

"Chutki go and wait outside"

Garima shouted at her and Chutki walked outside carrying Aashi.

Payal reached for Lekhraj, her eyes bloodshot.

"What the hell did you gave to my sister?"

She shouted at him shoving him hard.

"What did I do, now? Ask your sister, may be she does not want to be a mother?"

He said removing Payal's hands from his shirt collar.

"Don't act smart, Lekhraj! As if you don't know anything, we are sure that its your dirty hands behind all this"

Garima yelled and Khushi looked at her mother and sister with horror. She had never thought they would react like this.

"f**k off"

He hissed and pushed Garima onto the floor, and walked outside.

Arnav paced inside his room, he could not figure out anything, his head throbbed as he removed the mangalsutra from his pocket.

Khushi will not do anything like that. His mind pleaded at him and he closed his eyes, the pain was unbearable.

Arpita had saw him rushing to his room. he was supposed to marry Khushi and bring her home by the time, she thought as she walked upstairs, to his room.

She hesitated before knocking on the door. There was no response from inside, she knocked again and this time the door opened revealing a messed up Arnav. He was not wearing his sherwani, his hair was tousled and his eyes bloodshot.

He walked towards his bed and sat on the edge, staring into nothing.

"Were you been crying? Arnav?"

Arpita sat beside him and he hugged her surprising her.

"Maa I lost my baby"

He said with a broken voice and hugged her fiercely. Arpita could not believe her ears as she caressed his tensed back. So this was the reason he hurried for the marriage, changing all other plans.

"It was an abortion"

He said looking at his mother's shocked face.

"What?"

She asked incredulously standing up from the bed.

"I don't know Maa how it happened, Khushi is in hospital now"

He said and buried his face onto the pillow.

Anjali and Akash had returned from the temple when they did not see anyone there. And they froze at the bedroom door of Arnav as they heard about the abortion.

"We are leaving for the hospital, Maa are you coming?"

Anjali asked holding Akash's hand.

"Yes I want to meet Khushi bitiya"

She said and hurried outside leaving Arnav alone, with his thoughts.

Neeraj caught hold of Lekhraj and pushed him inside an empty room. he struggled in hold and pushed him back.

"What the hell?"

Lekhraj barked and shoved him hard.

"Don't tell me you are behind all this, I will kill you for sure"

He hissed grabbing his collar.

Arnav was looking at the father son duo, standing at the door. He approached them and Lekhraj removed Neeraj's hands from him.

"Neeraj jiju, why are you punishing the innocent, I don't think Lekhraj uncle could do something like that,"

Arnav said smiling at Lekhraj, and he sighed in relief.

Neeraj watched Arnav's face with utter shock, and he could not understand why Arnav was taking Lekhraj's side, suddenly.

He moved away from there, and left the hospital in no time.

"Thank You Son," Lekhraj said squeezing Arnav's shoulders.

"Its okay uncle, I trust you"

He said and left for Khushi's allotted room, where his Maa, Di and whole family were gathered around Khushi.

He wanted to speak to her in private and he had to wait until his family leaves from there.

Khushi looked up at him, as he entered inside her room, his eyes downcasted. Her heart twisted at the vision in front of her, she could not take this anymore so she looked away instantly as he sat next to her on the bed instead of the chair.

"Khushi, tum theekh ho?"

He asked, his voice was unbelievably cold and broken. She sensed that he was mad at her, and he thinks that all this was planned by her, like Lekhraj said.

"Khushi, why are you so silent?"

She turned her face towards him, there was no warmth there, which he seeked and always found.

She stared at him as if trying to read his mind, sometimes he is too difficult to understand.

"Our whole plan of trapping Lekhraj is ruined, because of all this fuss,"

"How can you say that Arnav? You still thinking about the plan, when we lost our baby?"

She asked incredulously.

"You think I'm not affected by all this?"

He did not want a fight with her, atleast not now, when she needed rest and a peace of mind.

"Only if you would have been little more careful"

Khushi looked at him with disbelief, she never expected him to behave with her like this after all these ups and downs they faced together.

"You think that I did it on purpose?"

Finally, she spat out staring at him.

"I never say that, don't go too far Khushi"

"Don't tell me getting me pregnant was also your so called "PLAN" ?" You are more worried for your plans than our baby.."

"ENOUGH"

Arnav moved away from the bed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
