"Chotte! Nani nehi manenge! Khushi thodi alag hain" Anjali reasoned. (Nani wouldn't agree. Khushi is a little different)
"Alag hain ka kya matlab? She's a nice girl, she loves me then why is it so hard?" Arnav shot back (What do you mean by 'she's different'?)
"Chotte, tumhe pata hain main kis bare mein baat kar rahi hoon" sighed Anjali, her hope going down the river. (Chotte, you know what I'm talking about)
"Is it because of the way we live? Khushi doesn't dress the way Nani wants? She doesn't know all the rules of the rituals? But Lavanya does so I should marry her? It doesn't even make sense, Di. Khushi is more than willing to try! These things are not too hard learn, you know but what Khushi feels for me and what I feel for her can't be mimicked. She's coming over to India for my family's approval and Nani is passing her off without even so much as a glance!" Arnav flared up, making his sister crouch a little. She knew he made more sense.
Anjali was in a fix. She was the pacifier in the Raizada Mansion but now, her troubled mind resembled the situation in the house. Nani wanted Arnav to marry a girl named Lavanya; a girl just of Nani's choice. Homely, docile, wore only traditional clothes while Arnav's Khushi was different. No doubt that Khushi was a nice girl, willing to learn the Raizada's way of living but she was the kind Nani would never approve of. Khushi was born and brought up in Sydney in an opulent family and good enough, her values were straight and right. Anjali knew having Indian Values and the Right Values meant two very different things but Nani would be a very hard nut to crack. Giving up for the day to bring Arnav to terms, she left his bedroom and made way for their Nani's.
