Part 8

After the basketball match, the gang was exhausted and all of them were sitting around a table poolside, relaxing. Taarey were sitting opposite each other, and Swaron were sitting opposite each other, with Taani and Sharon next to each other, and Rey and Swayam next to each other. They were all talking about random things, when Sharon got an idea. Without anyone noticing, she extended her leg underneath the table, and started running her foot up and down Swayam's leg, at least she thought it was Swayam's leg.

All of a sudden Rey felt a foot on his leg, he was surprised and looked up, he thought it was Taani and smiled at her, and Taani just seeing Rey's smile, smiled back. During this time Swaron were also smiling at each other. Sharon and Rey continued playing footsie under the table thinking they were playing with their respective partners.

While all of this was going on, Taani dropped her phone on the ground, she bent down to pick it up, when she saw what was happening under the table. She got back up and stared at Rey and saw him looking at her with a lovey dovey look.

T (thinking): Ohh, so Rey thinks ke woh mere saath.. (she gets an idea) Ab thodi masti toh banti hai

Taani stifled a laugh and went back to giving rey lovey dovey looks as well. She would giggle in between, giving Rey the impression that he was playing with her. After some time, all of a sudden, Taani stood up from the table and quickly walked and stood behind Sharon's chair. Seeing her stand up Rey got shocked, and quickly pulled his leg back and jolted. Sharon was surprised as to why Swayam pulled his leg back. But everyone was staring at Rey, due to his jolt.

Sw (asking rey): Dude, tu theek toh hai, kya hua?

Rey was looking here and there and then at Taani, who had a sweet smile on her face.

R: Uhh nahin, ku..kuch nahin

Then Taani couldn't hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. Now everyone stared at Taani.

Sw: Ab tumhe kya hua?

T (while laughing): Bhai.. Bhai.. woh..woh..

Nil: Woh..woh.. ke aage toh baro

T (still laughing): Woh..

R (suddenly got up): Nahin, kuch nahin, Taani kuch nahin kehna chahti, haina Taani.

T (shakes her head in a no): Nahin, main kehna chahti hoon (she took a deep breath to stop herself from laughing) Table ke neeche Rey aur Sharon footsie khel rahe the (and she burst out laughing again)

Hearing that, Sharon nearly fell of her seat, everyone stood up and screamed, 'WHAT?'

T (while laughing): Haan

Sh: What?

Sw: Sharon tum..

Sh: Nahin Swayam, main toh tumhare saath.. (Then she saw everyone staring at her) Matlab woh Rey tha (covers her face with her hands) Oh my god, this is so embarrassing.

Everyone was now laughing at Rey and Sharon, and they were both so embarrassed.

R: Taani, tum mujhe bata nahin sakti thi, mujhe toh laga ke woh tum ho.

T: Rey, agar main aapko bata deti, toh usme kya mazaa aata (and she cracked up laughing once again)

The gang all sits back down continuing to laugh at Rey and Sharon when the caretaker comes and interrupts.

Kaka: Taani bitiya, joh aapna subah samaan mangaya tha, woh sab aagaya hai

T (stops laughing and gets up from her seat): Jee Kaka, main aake dekhti hoon

Kaka leaves and Taani is about to follow him, when the gang asks her.

Gang: Samaan?

T: Haan, woh subah maine mangaya tha dinner ke liye, us waqt mujhe nahin pata tha ke boys dinner banayenge

Nil (impressed): Not bad Taani, already domestic haan?

V: Haan, tumne toh already Rey ka ghar sambhalna shuru kar diya

Taani starts blushing and looking towards Rey, and Rey looks at her smiling, with a proud look on his face.

T (blushing): Main abhi aayi.

And Taani runs inside the house. The gang continues talking.

Si: So, boys what are we having for dinner tonight?

Sh (with attitude) Yeah, please make sure the food is perfect.

N: Come on Sharon, these boys and food cooking, Neha knowing perfect it can never be.

The girls all start laughing at the boys, imagining them cooking.

V (offended): Hey, please, tonight's meal is going to be the best meal you have ever had.

Nil: haan, tum ladkiyaan ungliyan chahti reh jaogi

Bh: Haan hum ek dum dhansu khaana banayenge.

A: Light!!

Reyam just looked at each other, knowing this was no easy task, but when the boys all stared at them, they were obliged to join them.

Sw: You girls are talking as if tum logo ko bara khaana banana aata hai

R: Absolutely, tum ladkiyon se toh better hi khaana banayenge, I mean Sharon ko toh paani bhi boil nahin karna aata hai

Sh (offended and points a finger at Rey): Rey, mat bhoolo, ek baar maine tumko Maggie banake khilayi thi

R: haan, aur woh bhi jali hui, I mean how did you manage to burn Maggie?

As usual this led to a full blown girls vs boys war, and everyone was standing up staring at each other and shouting at each other.

Meanwhile, Taani returns from inside after checking on everything and while she is walking towards the table, suddenly, she slips and falls into the pool. The gang all stop shouting and look in the direction of the splash to see what happened.

Sh: OH MY GOD.. TAANI!!

Vicky, Nil, Amar and Bharat burst out laughing, and all the girls get worried.

Sh: SHUT UP GUYS, SOMEONE HELP HER!

V: Chill Sharon, it's not that deep.

Sh: GUYS SHE CAN'T SWIM!

Boys (look at Sharon): WHAT?!?

Before anyone can say something, do something or react again, Rey is already running towards the pool, kicking off his shoes, and taking off his jacket at the same time and dives straight into the pool. The rest of the gang runs up to the pool's edge behind him, and start shouting for Rey and Taani.

Sh (worried): oh my god, oh my god, REYYY!!

Rey is swimming underwater looking left and right desperately trying to find Taani, when he suddenly sees her a few feet away, sinking to the bottom of the pool. He swims towards her as fast as he can, when he reaches her, he grabs her body towards himself, and swims upwards. He comes out on top of the pool and all the friends take a sigh of relief. Rey looks towards Taani and sees her eyes closed. He starts tapping her cheek to wake her up 'Taani.. Taani' But she doesn't react. He quickly picks her up and carries her out of the pool and lays her down poolside and kneels beside her. The rest of the gang come running to both Taani and Rey.

R (tapping her face and rubbing her hands): Taani… Taani

Sw: Kya hua?

Swayam and Sharon kneel down next to Taani with the rest of the gang surrounding them.

Sh: I think she swallowed too much water

R (looks up at Sharon shocked): What?

Sh: Swayam pump her stomach to get the water out

Swayam starts doing what she says, meanwhile Neha starts rubbing one of Taani's feet, while Simi rubs the other.

Sh: Rey, you have to give her mouth to mouth resuscitation, you need to get oxygen in her lungs.

Rey nods, and automatically gets to work, he tilts up Taani's face, pinches her nose and blows into her mouth, but nothing happens. He looks at Sharon with his eyes tearing up, it felt as his brain was not working anymore, he was just following instructions, what he heard, he did, and his brain had stopped working.

Sh: Keep doing it.

Rey once again nodded, and did the resuscitation again. He did it 3 times, but nothing happened, but after the fourth, Taani finally coughed. Everyone let go of the breath they were holding. Taani started coughing up water, and kept coughing, she sat up and Sharon started rubbing her back to help her cough out all the water. Aashi ran to get a towel and came and quickly wrapped it around Taani. Sharon kept rubbing Taani's arms and back. Taani continuously coughed for around 2 minutes, when she finally stopped and was out of breath, she started breathing heavily to get as much oxygen as she could, finally her breathing evened out, and she looked at all her friends with tears in their eyes. She looked at her bhabhi who was blinking back tears, she looked at her brother, and saw tear stains on his cheeks, and then she looked at Rey. She looked at Rey and saw an expression that she knew she didn't ever want to see on his face.

The moment Taani looked at Rey was the moment Rey's brain started working again, he couldn't remember anything before that, it was all a blur. He just did the only thing he could think of in that moment. He hugged her. Tight. Never wanting to let go again. He didn't care if her brother was there, at the moment he wouldn't care if anyone in the world was there, he had nearly just lost his life, and he couldn't bear that thought. He had nearly lost her. NO! THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE! THAT WAS NOT AN OPTION!

Sh: Rey, I think you should take Taani to her room.

Rey just nodded, broke the hug, and picked her up, carrying her to her room.

After they had left, Swayam said

Sw: Maybe, I should just go check in on her once.

Sh (holding his hand, stopping him): Give them a moment

Sw: Par woh meri behen hain

Sh: Aur woh Rey ka pyaar hain, uski zindagi hain, Swayam please samjho
