Here's the interpretation for the part 58.
Today's update throws up two themes but interwoven. Why I am using two themes is though both are very different in their origin and meaning they are interlinked. I find them repeated in every instance that you have presented!
Well one is CUSTODIAN which is used in terms of guardian, keeper, monitor.
The other is COUP DE FOUDRE, used in its literal sense and mind you not in the figurative sense, meaning surprising or sudden event or development, bolt of lightning or thunderbolt.
Anjali who was seeing Anand, after a gap of 10 years, after the heartbreak, after spending the lonely years pining for him, hugged him openly forgetting herself. This sudden appearance of Anand was like a thunderbolt. For her it was only Anand, her soulmate.
"We love but once, for once only are we perfectly equipped for loving" ~ Cyril Connolly
All coherent thoughts fled out of her mind. The only thing that registered in her was that the Custodian of her heart was back!
"When you love someone all your saved up wishes start coming out" ~ Elizabeth Bowen
She felt her Devi Maiyya had answered her prayers performing a miracle. She knew she wouldn't let him go out of her life.
"If you like her, if she makes you happy, and if you feel like you know her---then don't let her go" ~ Nicholas Sparks, Message in a Bottle
She clung to him and cried her heart out, her pain, her anguish all coming out in the form of tears.
"Anand shut his eyes, trying to hide his pain at her grief, pain that he had caused. He slowly rubbed her back with his free hand"
After her tears subsided he made her sit with him on a bench. She clung to him like a vine and both sat silently savoring the presence of one another, communicating silently and gathering the strength from their love for one another.
"To communicate through silence is a link between the thoughts of man" ~ Marcel Marceau
Anand started to tell his story after sometime. He began with the day Arnav and Mamaji went to his house with the proposal of marriage. He said on that day they were packing to shift the house. Three days earlier his father was diagonsed with a terminal illness and they were admitting him to a hospital near his Buaji's house. So they were shifting to his Buaji's house. He had to shoulder the responsibilities of the house - sisters' education, their marriage, his course completion along with his fathers' treatment. So he did not have time to think about his marriage or the proposal. His priority lay in getting a job to tide those hard times. Even though it was like a Manna to him, he had to reject the proposal with a heavy heart.
"I knew you would cry." He paused to swallow hard. "I knew you would be very, very upset. I... I hoped your family would support you, help you go on... That was all I could do. My only comfort was that I knew Arnav wouldn't let you fall..."
Anjali nodded, unable to make a sound to save her life.
"Love means not ever having to say you're sorry" ~ Erich Segal
He continued saying that in three months his father passed away and he slowly got his three sisters married by working at two jobs, selling the ancestral land, their house. They stayed at Buaji's place. Later when he started a business with his friends, his mother sold rest of her jewellery, Buaji pledged her house, his brothers'- in - law too pitched in, even though they were not well off, to raise the required capital.
Anand smiled at Anjali. "Their kindness and love made it imperative that I succeed. Because if I failed, I would take my entire family down with me."
Anjali nodded.
"I worked day and night, Anjali. The six of us bought an old house, renovated it, and sold it at a good profit. Then we bought a parcel of land, divided it into plots, built houses, and sold them."
Since past seven years unaware to her he had come regularly to see her from far. He showed her the pictures that he had taken of hers at various times with his cell phone. This was a like a strike of a bolt of lightning on her by the custodian of her heart. It just left her staring unable to believe what she saw. He had never declared his love to her but had adored her from far waiting for the right time to seek her hand.
"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides" ~ David Viscott
She never even knew Anand had loved her. For her it was dream come true. This feeling brought in the warmth into her heart.
"The richest love is that which submits to the arbitration of time" ~ Lawrence Durrell
Their love had withstood the test of time and now it was the time to bask in its warmth.
Meanwhile Arnav Singh Raizada was being briefed by his lieutenant Aman that the agency they had assigned to come up with information about Aarti has turned up with a zilch. This was a stunner to Arnav Singh Raizada, a bolt out of the blue for him.
"No employee of Mishra's that the agency managed to question, knows anyone called Aarti."
"How can that be? NK asked the Mishra's for a seventh car, and she came with a Benz. She is an employee there."
Aman shrugged.
"How can she get hold of a Benz if she is not an employee of Mishra's?"
"That is right, Sir."
"And why should she meet our need for an extra car if she is not an employee of Mishra's?"
"Right, Boss", said Aman.
Arnav Singh Raizada instructed Aman to dig further to get the results. He also verified the address. For Arnav Singh Raizada never leaves any stone unturned, if it is possible, for the welfare of his loved ones.
"Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more" ~ Tony Robbins
He being the eldest son of the family was the custodian of the welfare of the family too.
At the same time, Aarti Mishra is being briefed by one of her trusted employees, Jayesh Bhai, who is a father figure for her, that someone had been enquiring about her with the security guards, canteen boys and workshop helps. She gets surprised.
"Bitiyaa!", Jayesh Bhai called Aarti.
She stopped, and smiled slightly at him.
"Someone is asking about you."
Aarti lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "Male or female?"
"Male. He asked the security guards, the canteen boy, Krishna at the workshop... They came to me and asked me to inform you."
Aarti looked down.
"All told the stranger that they had never heard your name before."
Aarti swallowed.
Nitin came to her with a file.
"Thank you. Don't worry about this, Jayesh Bhai. I will manage it.", Aarti said softly.
He nodded. He knew she would manage it. "Thank you, Madam", said Jayesh Bhai as he went away.
Aarti sighed. How many times had she asked Jayesh Bhai to call her Bitiyaa in public as he did in private. But he was adamant.
Nitin handed over the file, and walked away.
Her employees consider her as their own. They have taken up the role of being her guardians. They are very protective about her. She looks after their welfare, they take charge of her security. They are the keepers of her safety. They monitor all those who approach her, close-in whenever a stranger approaches. They protect her. They enclose her within their safety net. In other words, they are her custodians.
"Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness"
~ George Sand
It is their love for her that brings out the kindness and loyalty in them, making them protective about her.
"The best protection any woman can have... is courage" ~ Elizabeth Cady Stanton
That Aarti has in plenty.
When she comes to know that it was a male she starts analyzing. She rules out Kushiji, NK was too direct to resort to such things. He'll come directly to the office. Akash and Mamaji know nothing about it. She wonders has Kushi told anything to Arnav Singh Raizada and zeroes in on him. She decides he definitely will be the person who will not sit idle when his brother's happiness is at stake. But Arnav Singh Raizada will not be snooping around himself. He must have set somebody on this job. This time her loyal employees had made sure he got nothing. But Arnav Singh Raizada is bound to try again. When that happens she decided to end the game. But she'll wait for him to make the move!
"What puts someone on guard isn't necessarily the fear of being found out" ~ Terry Gross
For her fulfilling her responsibilities are her priority as many lives depend on her and also she doesn't hold the institution of marriage high in esteem after seeing the sad state of affairs at home.
Arnav Singh Raizada is furious that he is unable to get any information about Aarti. With his anger in the forefront, he comes home to find his wife singing to herself while performing the daily chores. She was inhaling scent from his coat before she went to hang it in the wardrobe. Seeing her, his anger dissipated into thin air. He stood watching her and found her looking at her still flat stomach and stand pouting while running her hand over it. Arnav Singh Raizada, felt love welling up in him and touched her shoulders.
"Nothing can bring a real sense of security into the home except true love" ~ Billy Graham
She looked up, and stood shocked to see him.
"Arnavji! Aap! You are early today!"
She turned towards him, glad to see him, hugging him in her joy.
He cupped her face. "How are you feeling today, Khushi?"
"Perfectly fine, Arnavji."
He nodded. She would be fine if he had anything to say about it. He would make sure that she had a safe pregnancy & delivery, and that she got her baby. She wouldn't lose anything more in her life. He would read up more on pregnancy, and ensure that she was always happy.
His protective instincts came to the fore. When Kushi offered to fetch his tea, he told her not to bother with it as HP could do it! He would ask his Di to send their food up too. He did not want her to exert herself even a little bit and suffer anymore. This protective feeling exhibited by her husband was like a bolt of lightning to her.
"I want you to rest, take care, read good books, listen to classical music..."
"For nine months?", Khushi asked, unable to believe her ears.
"Yes."
Khushi sighed. She caught hold of his hand, and led him to sit on their bed. She sat by him, and holding his hand, said, "Arnavji! Do you really want me to spend the next nine months imprisoned in this room?"
Put like that, Arnav felt that his demand might have been a tad, only a tad, unreasonable.
He said he just wanted to take care of her and the child and didn't want her to suffer any more. The responsibility of being the one to protect her and the child was weighing on his mind.
"True love is like playing chess, a boy plays and always afraid of losing his queen and a girl risking everything just to protect her king.."
"I will take care." She leaned her head against his shoulder. "Arnavji, as far as I know, women have been giving birth for centuries without any fuss. They go about their work, but take care not to strain. That's all."
"No, Khushi.", he was determined. "I want you to be safe. I..."
"Arnavji, there are women who work in the fields and break rocks even while they are pregnant.", Khushi teased.
"Yes, but they are not my wife." Arnav was adamant. "Khushi, I want you to take care."
Khushi looked at his worried face, and wanted to laugh. With great effort, she bit down her laughter.
She said with a sad face, "Arnavji, the mother is supposed to be happy during pregnancy. It will make her child healthy and well-balanced."
Arnav nodded.
"How can I be happy, spending 9 months in this bedroom, bathroom, and the poolside? It will be like a prison."
Arnav frowned, hard at thought.
"I need a heart to live, but I need you more to make it beat!"
Kushi understanding his need to be protective reaches upto him and kisses. Arnav Singh Raizada, realizes that he is the custodian of the welfare of both Kushi and his unborn kid. The guilt of, her having to suffer due to the negligence of his father, weighs heavily upon him. He wants to give her all the comforts in life and never let a sad tear run down her face. He is determined to do so.
"Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit" ~ Khalil Gibran
He knows life without his Kushi is barren for him. His love for her instigates him to be over-protective. But he has a wife who is balanced. She knows she has to take care of the baby inside her.
A mother in happy state of mind will give birth to a child with sunny disposition. She knows that the child will relate to her emotions. She knows that she is its guardian now.
That is why I said in the beginning that the two words COUP DE FOUDRE and CUSTODIAN are interlinked in this installment.
PICK OF THE DAY:
Anjali stared in to Anand's smiling eyes for a moment more. Then she threw her arms around his shoulders, hugging him for all she was worth.
She forgot that she was in a temple, that there was a crowd of people staring at them, that he was holding her thali, that she had never touched him before, that they had never, not even once had a conversation in college, that he had never admitted to loving her...
All she knew was that Devi Maiyya had heard her prayers, and had made the impossible possible for her. That her 10-year wait was over. That she would never let him go away from her sight again.
"Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
"After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape."
~ J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
This quote of J.K.Rowlings sums up Anjali's feelings. For her
"Life is the flower for which love is the honey"
~ Victor Hugo
She couldn't relish life without love, love of the custodian of her heart, Anand,
"Love is a springtime plant that perfumes everything with its hope, even the ruins to which it clings" ~ Gustave Flaubert
Even in the depths of her despair she clung to the hope of her love, for her love comes only once in her lifetime and her love is supreme and unconditional.
That's it for today. Hope you enjoy it.
