PART 13

Gupta house

The morning rays shone bright on Payal's face as she opened the curtains. She blushed thinking about last night.

**FLASHBACK**

LAST NIGHT ROKA

Akash grabbed Payal's wrist and took her to the garden hoping to get her alone finally.

"Akash, what are you doing?" she looked at him shocked.
"Shhh Payal, Nk will hear us and then come running to disturb us a usual." he told her pinning her to the tree.

Payal blushed and lowered her eyes unable to meet his.

"So what did you want to talk about?" she asked him trying to break the silence between them.
"Nothing actually, I just wanted to spend a few moments with you." he replied lowering his hands from either side of her head.
"Akash let's go inside, our families will be looking for us soon." she said.
"No way, I got you here after so many efforts. I'm not letting you go so easily." he replied holding her soft hands in his.

They spoke for a while and for the first time they were not shy of each other. Their relationship was slowly forming trust between them.

"Payal, would you come out with me to dinner this weekend please?" he asked her scanning her face to gather her reactions.
"I would love to, but how would I get out of the house?" she asked worried.
"Don't worry I will figure that out, as long as you comfortable and accepted." he said excitedly.

**FLASHBACK ENDS**

Payal's thought were interrupted when her little naughty sister threw a pillow on her.

"Oh oh jiji, I'm talking so long but you never replied." Khushi pouting.
"I'm sorry Khushi, I'm just tired." Payal told her softly.
"Okay jiji, you go and get ready I'll make breakfast for us." Khushi said with a reassuring smile.

They all ate the breakfast and got ready to leave for the mendhi which made Khushi and Payal restless.

Raizada House

"Di, is everything ready? Khushi and them will be here just now." Arnav said eagerly looking at the door.
"Arey! What's happening in this house? My brothers seem more excited than me." Anjali said laughing.

Arnav rolled his eyes and walked over to where Akash stood. He noticed Akash chewing on his nails and he made a disgusted face.

"If you eat your nails Payal would feel disgusted with you." Arnav said watching Akash's expression turn from nervous to horrified.
"Ji...woh... Bhai... Nothing like that." Akash replied stammering nervously causing Arnav to burst out laughing.

The entire Raizada house came to a standstill. Hp dropped the flower vase from his hand leaving it shatter on the floor. Anjali almost tripped on the stairs but thankfully mami grabbed her. Nk spat the milk he was having on JP's face.

Arnav felt lighter when he laughed like that. He remembered the night he laughed with Khushi on the beach. She had brought a change in his life. He looked around and stopped laughing when he saw everyone's shocked faces.

Anjali ran to her brother and hugged him allowing her tears to flow with happiness.

"Chotte, I'm hearing your laugh after so many years, please stay like this!" she said crying and laughing at the same time.

Arnav just smiles and walked to his room. He took out his laptop and did some work. Since he's on college holiday now he would need to go to the office. He was so thankful to his boss who understood his studies came first.

There was a soft knock on the door and he went to open the door. It was HP telling him the Gupta's had arrived. Arnav bolted from there and ran down three stairs at a time. He wanted to open the door before anyone else did.

He managed to beat a confused Anjali to the door.

"Khushi?" he said opening the door only to find himself staring at her Buaji.
"Arey Babua, I've never seen you so happy before, what happen?" Buaji said blushing.
"Woh... Kuch... Nothing Buaji... Just like that." he stammered.

He moved away from the door and allowed them to come inside. His eyes were eagerly searching for her but she was nowhere to be found. He felt himself getting angry at her for doing this to him. There only reason he stayed home today was to see her.

Anjali stood there noticing the change in her Chotte's expressions. She knew he was searching for Khushi, since he was continuously talking about her or even by mistake taking her name. "Could it be that he is falling for Khushi? But is the love mutual?" Anjali thought. She knew now that she had to find out.

Khushi was left to carry the stuff from the car. She was furious as they always did that to her. The door to Raizada mansion was open but before she could open it someone grabbed her around her waist.

"Where were you for so long? I thought that you didn't come." Arnav told her.
"Be careful Mr Raizada, if anyone hears you they will think something else." She smirked.
"Whatever, I hope you remember the dare, today is the mendhi, unless of course you are scared." He told her arching his eyebrow.

She remembered very clearly since that's all she thought about. Her eyelids lowered and she blushed cutely.

"Khushi, Asr?" A soft voice said.

They both turned and saw Lavanya standing there smirking.

"Lavanya, what are you doing here? He asked her angrily as he knew Khushi would be upset now.
"Please Asr, I didn't come here to talk to you, I need to speak to Khushi." She said turning to face Khushi.
"What do you want to talk to me about." Khushi asked her curiously.
"Well I need to apologise to you for everything. I realised that whatever I did is unacceptable but I was insecure about ASR. I thought you were purposely trying to take him away from. But then how is that possible when he never loved me? The love was only one side and I was an idiot to blame you. I'm sorry Khushi, I really am very sorry." Lavanya said with tears flowing, smudging her heavy applied make-up.

Khushi and Arnav looked at each other stunned after hearing her confession.

"It's okay Lavanya, its only natural to feel like that. You shouldn't though because there's nothing between Arnav and I." Khushi said looking at Arnav whose face was turning into full blown anger hearing her say that. He walked away from their angry.

"So friends Khushi." Lavanya said holding her hand out.
"Of course Lavanya." Khushi said shaking her hand.

The both of them walked into the house and gave all the stuff to HP to pack away. Khushi looked around but couldn't see Arnav anywhere. She assumed he went to his room.

The mendhi ceremony started and all the guys where chased from there. Anjali was the first to put her mendhi.

Three ladies walked in with their veils covering them. They walked and sat next to Mami, Garima and Buaji.

Akash, Shyam and Nk could not sit still. The saree that they hopelessly draped was falling apart. Nk put his hand on Buaji's thinking her to be Khushi. Akash put his hand on Garima whom he thought was Payal and Shyam pinched Mamiji's waist thinking its Anjali.

"Hello hi bye bye, why did you pinch me bitiya? I love my husband bitiya not women." Mami said jumping up scared to sit next to this unknown girl.

Shyam felt so embarrassed as he didn't know he grabbed Mami's waist. He shifted from them and tried apologising to her in a forced woman's voice.

Nk began to caress Buaji's hand and wondered how come Khushi's hand feel so wrinkled.

"Bitiya, Kya hua? Your hand is so rough! Its not nice for you palm to be like that. What would your husband think?" Buaji said.

Nk realised he grabbed Buaji's hand and tried to pull his hand but she wouldn't let go.

"Anyway if you not married I know of a good boy. The bride's brother Nandkishore, he talks nonsense but good boy at heart." Buaji told a petrified NK.

"If I was a few years younger I would have married him." Buaji said blushing.

That did it for NK, Buaji was fantasising about him. He begin to have a glimpse of his future with Buaji getting marries to him.

Akash played with Garima's fingers, interlocking it and was bringing it up to place a kiss when he heard Nk scream NOOO. Please save me fom Buaji.

Akash and Shyam threw of their veils and ran to NK not realising they broke their cover.

"Hai re nandshore, what is this? We told that no boys are allowed na? Then what are you boys doing here." Buaji said getting up.
"Ji.. Buaji.. Woh NK said we must do this." Akash said embarrassed. "That's not right you three, no men are allowed here and we told you that." Garima said upset.
"If you boys want to wear a saree so eagerly tell us then we'll get you married and instead of the women being the bride, you boys can be the brides." Nani said twisting their ears.
"Nahi... Nani... Ouch... It's not our fault Nanav said we must do this. Nk said trying to save himself.
"Chotte? Go call him now, I will sort him out." Nani said.

The three boys ran from there hearing the roaring laughter from the ladies.

Khushi was shocked that Arnav gave them this idea. She said his name out and the mendhi girl misinterpreted this and writes the letter A on her mendhi.

"Nani, Bhai is not here, I called his cell but he's not answering and his office said he didn't go there today." Akash said.

Anjali panicked when she heard that. She woke up from her place and frantically searched for her phone. They all tried calling him for the past hour but no response.

Khushi was worried in case something had happened. She tried to call him but in vain. She went to his room and searched him but he was not there. Tears rolled down onto her cheek and she was really scared. She walked down to check if he came back but the look on Anjali's face said it all.

4 hours had passed but still no sign from him. Khushi was sitting by the pool staring at her reflection in the water when she saw him behind her.

She got up and spun to face him angrily and relieved.

''How dare you do this to us? You family has been worried sick and you didn't even bother to pick up the phone and say that you are okay... What kind of person are you? We were frantic thing that something had happened to you. We tried to call you so many times but you didn't care about it. You don't care about anyone's feelings at least think about your DI. Today is her mendhi but she left it amidst and searched for you. Sometimes I wonder if you are human! You just don't give a damn to other peoples feeling. ''Khushi yelled at him and was more furious because he stood there with his hands folded watching her as if she's some kind of entertainer.

''Are you done now?" he asked her soflty.

She decided to leave and go back to the mendhi when he grabbed her dupatta. He pulled her close to him and hugged her tightly not wanting to let go of her.

''So Miss Khushi Kumari Gupta had missed me today, by the way Khushi what did you think? That im lost or that I died or something.'' He said laughing.

Khushi didn't know what possessed her but she took him with a hard slap across his face.

''Khushi..What…'' he said shocked.

''Shut up, just damn shut up, you are laughing when you don't even realise what I have been through, you just worry about yourself and no one else.'' She said with tears rolling down her cheeks.

He pulled her back to him for a hug and caressed her hair trying to calm her down.

''Shhh, I'm sorry Khushi, I didn't mean to hurt you, see I'm okay, I was in an important meeting and I had to switch my phone of.'' He said calmly and placing small feather kisses on her hair.''

Khushi just pushed him angrily and went away from there. She would never speak to him again after all that he has done. She went downstairs and told her family she's not feeling well and she wants to go home.

''Kya hua Khushi? Are you worried about something?'' Anjali asked remembering the scene she had seen at the poolside seconds ago. She realised now that the love is mutual and it won't be long before her stubborn brother confesses.

"Maybe she's worried because she about to lose a bet or something DI.'' Arnav said to Anjali hinting at Khushi about the bet.

Khushi knew he was talking about her kissing him today, but how was she going to do that? It will cause a major issue here among the adults. She thought of and idea and tired her luck with it.

"Come Khushi lets go home.'' Shyam said to her.

Khushi went to Anjali and hugged and Kissed her, she took blessings from Nani and Mami. She told the three Raizada brothers bye and left with all of them walking them to the door.

Everyone so engrossed in talks that they did not notice Khushi slip back and walk with Arnav. She grabbed his hand and pulled him to her slamming her mouth against his. Arnav knew she would fulfil the bet but he thought she will just peck his cheeks but this was worth it. He was about to pull her closer when she pulled back and ran out of the house leaving a flushed Arnav and a stunned Anjali who just happened to witness the kiss unintentionally.
