Chapter 3

The drive back home was deadly silent. Rey tried to conversation but it ended with him receiving a glare to shut up from kriya or seeming like he was talking to the car and not a living soul was present in the vicinity. In this silence they reached the hotel. Kriya quickly rushed out banging the door shut. When Rey enetred the house she mumbled hima quick goodbye as a courtesy and then shut the door. Rey was highly disappointed. He so wanted to talk to her, share things with her and get her to open herself. He wanted to see a smile reaching those eyes which he could only imagine. Thinking this he reitired to his room. Everyday it became a routine but he never did stop trying...

One night he got up from his bed as he wasn't feeling really sleepy. Still he had no success with Kriya and they were still at the same position. The only solace he received out of this whole situation was that Kriya stayed near him. He always tried out ways to talk to her but nothing succeeded. Thinking this he proceeded to kitchen when he saw her room opened slightly and decided to peep in. She was nowhere in sight. He thought she might have gone to the washroom but saw it locked from outside. This made him hell anxious. Sleep left him at that very instant. He sat there waiting for her shuddering at all the possible thoughts that crept in his mind about what might happen to her.

As the morning dawned upon he heard some fidgeting and looked in the direction and saw Kriya sneaking into the room. He thanked his seventh star for keeping her saf. He called her name behind after she locked her door. She looked at him questioningly."Where were u last night?", he questioned."Why should I other to answer you??", was all she replied."U r staying in my house and I need to know ur whereabouts. Do u have even the slightest idea how worried I was for u??", he spoke."No idea and I don't want to know too...", she said bluntly."But I want you to know. U r staying in my house and u r my responsibility!!"he squealed. She nodded her head briskly and walked to the fridge and gulped some water hurriedly. "U don't need to take my responsibility and I don't feel obliged to discuss it with u", she replied calmly.

Saying this she paced to her room and banged shut on his face. Rey was irritated on both himself and on her. He was getting highly irate with her as she didn't even give heed to his words and on other hand he couldn't stop himself from caring about her. He just then went in his room and banged the door shut.

The next night the same thing happened and in the morning the same events took place. The following day was no different but this time Kriya didn't return till the evening. His anxiety reached its peak. He hadn't eaten anything for the whole day and would glance at the door in every 5 minute hoping time would pass quickly as well as it would slow down boz with each passing moment his heart was sinking more and more. He didn't know when she became so important to him and he didn't even care about as all he cared about was seeing her safe and sound in front of him. He didn't even care about her cold behaviour. In the evening she returned. Rey was so relieved to see her. He drank up her image and was about to give her a piece of his mind when his eyes travelled to a wound on her right upper arm. It was bleeding profusely and she didn't even feel an inch of the pain as it seemed from her face. "Kriya you are hurt!!", he shouted at her taking her hand in his for bandaging but she quickly withdrew it."What on earth are u trying to do?", she yelled. "I am trying to clean ur wound which u aren't allowing me to and it seems as if u don't care about it", he said angrily."Its my problem. U don't need to look after me. We live in same flat it doesn't mean that u own me", she answered.Rey finally lost his cool temper. "What is ur problem?? I try to be friendly with u but u always shrug me off. I want to be friends with u but u r always pushing me away. U always go away at night and today u end up hurting urself and when i am trying to help u ... u r shouting on me. U don't want my help.. Fine. Just say it!! That doesn't mean u leave ur wounds like that okay!!!!!", he probe hurtedly.

Rey took the kit and placed it on the couch and stormed off out of his house. Kria felt guilty for her words. After all the guy was just trying to help and was just trying to be friendly. He didn't deserve to be shouted like that. She then took the kit and went to Rey who was sitting there angrily. Kria then sat beside him. He just turned away to the other side. Kria took a deep breath,"I don't like people to question me and nag me...I just hate it that's why I shouted at you...I really didn't mean to hurt you rey...and I kno how it feels to be hurted", she said.

Rey then turned his face towards her. The pained face that he had seen on the dirtways was visible again. He wanted all her pains to go away but he was helpless. He forced a fake smile to make her better n then saw her wound which was unattended. He then looked at her crossly to which she questioned through her eyes and Rey glared towards her wound. Kriya didn't understand. Rey then took her hand and started bandaging it. He was very careful with his actions making sure she didn't feel the pain but to his surprise Kriya didn't even flinch a little. She just was staring at the endless sky engulfed in a deep thought. He finished bandaging. "Didn't u feel the pain??", he questioned examining her broken skin. "What ??", she asked back startled. "I mean is this not hurting you??", he clarified. "When life plays harsh games on u these small wounds don't matter a lot... They stop affecting u...", she spoke staring at the dark sky. It seemed like each and every word came directly conversed from her heart.

He dint quite understand her words, it seemed to be so philosophical but they were related to her...maybe related to her past. He diverted the topic and started talking. Sharing his memories of his childhood, his passion, his dreams, his aspirations in an attempt to open her up and also becoz he wanted her to know everything about him. After sometime she also started responding and gradually she opened up. Rey was surprised to see her talking so much but what surprised him a lot was that the life she described was so carefree and it was nowhere related to the pain evident on her face. She talked but the pained face was still there. They then shared about their families and their friends. Rey observed that in the end of the conversation while they were discussing their college life she flinched a little and the pain on her face deepened but that was momentary and had he not been observing her so closely it would have gone unnoticed. "Now tell me about me ur college life", she demanded. He found it better not to open the college matters for her, she was still sensitive when it comes to the topic. "Nothing much...it was just like the other", he answered taking a breath. "Nah Nah...u r lying...I kno so much about you n dont try to cover up...Whats up with the park near your college??", she admonished. "How do you know that??", he questioned. "I heard you and ur gf spent time there...oops girlfriends", she corrected with a slight cough. "Dont look at me like an innoncent baby Reyaansh...I know u kissed one of them too", she continued brushing her fingers over his forehead to trace the hair back to its place. "I didnt actually kiss her...it...it just happened", he said pouting like a kid. "Why should I bother too...come lets go", she said shoving off her place. "u dint tell me..", he started again. "Wat??", she asked again. "Park n all..", he replied. "I know everything about you...dont care to ask how...u wont get an answer!!", she stated. Kriya swifted from there uneasily and went to the room. They had their routine snap for the dinner and headed for their rooms.
