Part 16:
"It's my mom's room." He said while leading her inside.
"But didn't your mom and dad share the same room?"
"They did, but after my mom's passing away, dad shifted into the other room. He wanted this room to remain as it was when my mom left. He renovated the entire house but didn't let a single soul enter this room. Hey Why are you standing, get a sit"
She situates at the edge of the bed and saw him get hold of something from the cupboard.
"What are you doing Riyansh?"
"I want to you to meet my mom."
He set next to her and opened a photograph album. He chatter regarding every photograph in details and showed her many photos of them when they were little kids. When he flipped over to another photograph, a lone tear escaped from his eye.
"This was the very last time when we took a photograph with mom. We were so happy back then."
"Don't worry Riyansh, time heals everything"
"I know bhabi"
"Riyansh I don't know if should ask this but I'm just curious"
"You can ask anything you want to know."
"When and where did your mother died?"
"7 years ago, that's when arnav left home. After mom's death, he couldn't take it anymore so he left us. Can you believe it, mom died in her very own house? I guess house is not at all believed to be the safest place."
"How did it all happen?" she was now more curious to know about the family background of her arnav.
"You will get be on familiar terms with our family background later Khushi bhabi"
"Is it for the reason that your mom's death is somehow interconnected to you, so you don't want to tell me? If you feel that I will think badly about you then you're mistaken. I have known you for very a lesser amount of time but all I know is that you can never hurt someone, more than ever you own mom intentionally."
"Thank you so much for trusting me bhabi but I wish for arnav himself to disclose his secrets to you only when he is all prepared for it. I want him to share his happiness and sorrows with you.
"Thanks Riyansh, I feel better after talking to you"
"My pleasure bhabi, come up to me anytime you feel like chatting"
She retrieved to her room and set there wondering how arnav's mom passed away. She had nothing to do, no one to chat with. Payal and Riyansh's conversation with her kept replaying itself in her mind. "Payal seemed like bothered- to be exact- like suspicious on arnav doing something to me. On the other hand, Riyansh wants arnav to reveal his secrets to me. The only connection between them is arnav hiding something from me. Is it true? No, what am I thinking." She shakes her head in disbelief.
Then she heard arnav's voice outside the room and acted as if she was reading a book. He barge in and saw her reading a book- or maybe pretending to read because she was holding the book upside down.
"Khushi, what are you reading?"
"None of your business"
"Okay. Well just for your kind information, your book is upside down."
She was quite embrssaed being caught red handed, her cheeks turned crimson from embarrassment. The room was filled with silence, sensing the awkwardness, she decided to lighten up the atmosphere, "umm... I was learning how to read it other way round. It's amusing; you should try it as well."
"Umm. I guess I should leave these silly antics for you"
"Arnav"
"Yeah?"
"Um… I want to ask you something."
"I thought you weren't talking to me, no?"
"Ya, but I really want to ask this." He sensed the seriousness in her tone and became alert that she was about to ask something that he wouldn't know how to respond. He draws near her and bends down at the side of the bed, griping her two hands in his.
"Go ahead."
"Are you hiding something from me, as in keeping secrets? It's nothing like I don't trust you but I simply wanted to clarify."
He scan through his mind on how many things he has been hiding from Khushi; 1) Priya is her mom. 2) His mom's death. 3) He is a vampire. That was fairly a lot he hid from her view, though trust and honesty is mostly the most important things between couples. Which thing was she talking about? He remained silent for a while and then decided to answer her.
"What are you referring to Khushi?"
"Anything, like it can even be just a trivial matter that you hid from me."
"If it's regarding Priya, then she is just like a second mother who took care of me"
"Talking of mother, how did your mom pass away?"
He was surprised by the unexpected inquiry and had no idea how to come back with it. He had kept in mind giving his word to her mother about not spilling the beans of him being a vampire but if he told her concerning his mother's death, the whole fuss regarding vampire would expose eventually. He was caught in a dilemma whether or not to tell her.
"Um… Khushi, actually it was a car accident." He yet lied to her once more to cover up his previous lies. He wondered how many times he would have to lie to her and create new stories.
"Wasn't it somehow correlated with Riyansh? That's why you left the house?" She questioned him curiously wondering why he had concealed from her when Riyansh undoubtedly told her that their mother departed this life in her own house.
"Yes, it was indeed connected. He didn't saw the car approaching and started moving forward. When my mom pulled him back, another car drew alongside and knocked her over." He quickly made up a story in his mind.
"Oh okay..." she just agreed with him though she was certain that he was dishonest with her for a reason which she wasn't aware of, but she couldn't just let it slide.
"Where were you this morning?"
"Khushi you're behaving outlandishly."
"Oh really? In what way?"
"I don't know in what way but you are certainly questioning me like a police officer ordering the criminal to confess his crime."
"It's the same situation here arnav"
"What do you mean Khushi?"
There was all of a sudden a tender knock on the door. When the door open, a tensed payal was standing facing both of them with Riyansh behind her.
"Khushi bhabi, this lady here claims to be your friend so I brought her in."
"Payal? What are you doing here? And where's Akash?" Arnav asked her curiously.
"Arnav I want to talk to Khushi first"
"Umm… okay I'll be back later." And he left with Riyansh closing the door behind them.
"So what did you wanted to tell me? All I know it's about arnav, isn't it? Khushi asked payal while leading her to sit on the bed.
