Chapter 34

2010 Jain Enclave Delhi

Payal had a wary look on her face as she watched Kushi knock on the door. She threw a nervous look around & then grabbed Kushi.

"Kushi may be we should leave!"

Kushi shrugged her hand off & rounded on her.

"PAYAL THIS WAS YOUR IDEA FOR GOD SAKE!!!".

Payal wrung her hand in desperation.

"I know I know but I am not so sure now. This place looks sleazy & I saw a couple of people stare at us."

"No Payal I am fed up of you always bad mouthing Shyam so I want to shut you up once for all. Akash said that this detective is damn good & what's more extremely discreet."

She turned to address the strapping lad who had opened the door.

"I would like to meet Mr Arjun Mehta."

They were ushered into a small room with nondescript furniture. Arjun the detective suggested by Akash turned out to be a tall man in his late thirties with a slight stoop & a low voice.

Kushi placed an envelope on the table & Arjun raised his eyebrows quizzically.

"The names of the people are Preethika Jha, Shyam Jha & Anjali Mehta. I...". Kushi paused nervously. Arjun's blank, aloof expression was not helping. She gulped, took a deep breath & plunged ahead ignoring Payal's frantic expressions.

"I want you to investigate their actions between the months of Jan & May & especially their relationship with...". She stared into Arjun's eyes & said "with Arnav Singh Raizada!".

Payal buried her face in her hands but both Arjun & Kushi did not spare a look in her direction.

"Our professional charges are a little high."

"I don't care but I need you & your men to be extremely discreet."

Arjun nodded. "Please pay the advance to my assistant who met you outside & give him your contact number. I will call you once I have sufficient information."

After Kushi & Payal had left, the strapping man entered his boss's room. He was more a mentor than boss.

"Bhaiyya, not the usual kind of people who are our clients. What do you make of them?"

"I think that fair, lean girl is in love & wants to check on the inside dope. They are really fishing in dangerous waters. ASR is one of the most powerful industrialists. Anyway ours is not to question the motives of our client but to dish out the dirt. Let's get started. Take Aditya with you. He is the best for these kind of assignments".

2010 Happy Dabha Delhi

In spite of her bravado before Payal, Kushi was really on tenterhooks. She trusted Shyam but for some inexplicable reason Payal dint & contrary to her usual silent nature she had been pleading with Kushi to end her relationship with Shyam.

"Something is not right about that man Kushi. I get bad vibes from him. I think you are making a big mistake. Even if what he says is true which decent man will use his lover to trap his business adversary? He is using you to take revenge on ASR which is very disgusting."

A discreet cough broke Kushi's reverie & she was startled to find Arjun sitting opposite to her. Suddenly Kushi had a mad urge to flee but she managed to keep her face impassive.

"Mr Mehta, Any progress?"

"Yes Ms Gupta. My men were able to find a lot about these folks. For starters Anjali Raizada was engaged to be married to Shyam Jha. ASR had given orders for the engagement card to be printed at Shubh Vivah the most posh wedding card printers & he had also hired the KASHYAPs as the Event Managers. That company is famous for managing parties & engagement/marriage functions for Delhi's elite Rich & Famous. But in March the cards & the engagement party were cancelled by Shyam Jha without any notice."

Kushi was relieved. So far the story tallied it with what Shyam had told her. He had claimed that ASR had tried to arm twist him into marrying Anjali but he had refused.

"Regarding Preethika Jha, she is the younger sister of Shyam, 19 yrs old. She seemed to have been quite friendly with ASR but we do not have any solid proof that they had an affair. However on 15 Apr the staff of Hyatt had frantically called ASR. It seems Preethika had booked a room & when the housekeeping staff couldn't get any response from her room they opened the room with a duplicate key to find her unconscious on the floor with minor injuries on her face & hand. The last dialled number on her mobile turned out to be ASR's who arrived 1 hr later & whisked her away in his SUV On 30^th Apr Preethika was admitted in Pratima Clinic. ASR had her admitted under his name".

He paused & looked at Kushi for a minute before continuing.

"Preethika was admitted for an abortion. Pratima Clinic is notorious for discreet abortions. It's frequented by many bollywood actors as well as Delhi socialites. I have collected all the required documents & placed it in this sealed envelope."

He placed a large brown cover on the table. Kushi clenched her fists & closed her eyes for a minute.

"Thanks Mr Mehta for the excellent work. Here is the balance payment."

She picked the envelope & left quickly before Arjun can open his mouth.

Arjun stared at the retreating figure of Kushi speculatively & then muttered softly.

"Be very careful Ms Kushi. You seem to be messing around with very powerful people like ASR. He has a reputation of being ruthless & merciless. Beware lest you fall in trouble."

Then shrugging his shoulders he placed the money in his pocket & left immediately. His job was not to look out for the well being of his client. His job was just to do their work. However something in Kushi affected him despite his policy of not getting emotionally attached with his clients. He has been in this business for long & his instincts told him that Kushi was heading towards self destruction & ruin but he couldn't do anything about that.

"God save you my dear friend." was his parting words.

I am updating this story after a long time. Not sure how many still remember the plot & how many r still interested in reading it further.

Anyway i had promised my readers that I will complete both my FF before i quit IF so here you go. The latest update from me.

I know its not my best work but please bear with me since i am writing after a long time & still a little rusty. The next few chapters will reveal all the mysteries of the past between ARHI. Hope u like & enjoy it.
