FOREVER, maybe'
Chapter 7
The room swayed in front of her eyes. She had not been keeping well for the last three days. It was Friday already so she had managed to sneak out from office early. The tonsil was getting bad and she could feel the fever. The week had been hectic; she had pulled off 14 hour shifts almost every day getting hardly any time to eat and sleep let alone having the enthusiasm to get interrogated by Momo before being bestowed with her medical advice. Moreover it was her special time of the month. What exactly was special about it besides the agonizing abdominal pain, the cramps in the legs and the severe incapacitation, she never knew but still Momo managed to call it 'special'. She held the door frame for support before moving towards the kitchen counter for water. There was hardly any pain med left; she made a mental note to call up Momo and ask for medicines. Free medicines were an added advantage of having a doctor friend besides the free medical advice!
She moved back to her bed; it was stiffeningly hot. She searched for the AC remote, which was nowhere to be seen. Not having the energy to get up she opened her string of her bath robe and slipped it over her shoulders to make herself comfortable in her camisole. She had no idea when she had dosed off or for how long she was asleep. It was dark outside when she opened her eyes. The pain was gone but she couldn't move. The fever was really high and everything she touched felt cold. She heard a knock on the door.
"Khushi'"
A: "Khushi'are you alright?"
They had hardly spoken the last few days. She had thanked her schedule for she didn't know how to react or rather how to be with him anymore. He had dropped off her lunch on Monday and she had called him to say thanks. The days after had been pretty mundane. She found him asleep by the couch every night waiting for her for dinner. She usually woke him up before they took their food to their respective rooms for the night. His voice brought her back to the present.
A: "Are you alright?"
He came forward and touched her fore head.
A: "Khushi, you have fever...why didn't you tell me dammit'.how many time Khushi'how many times' couldn't you give me a call."
It was all too much. After neglecting her for the entire week, who was he to come and boss her. She didn't need him. Not now, not ever.
K: "leave me alone, Arnav'.don't touch me'I can take care of myself..." her voice was hoarse from the tonsil infection.
She tried to push him aside in her rage but ended up clutching his shirt for support, her head was spinning now. She remembered she had not had any food since her "power pack" breakfast in the morning, consisting of black coffee and oats cookies. More stress always equated to less food for her.
He held her while he dialed Momo's number.
A: "yeah, right Khushi'I can see that you have taken amazing care of yourself'let me call Momo...did u even eat?"
A: "Hi Momo'yeah I'm fine'listen'.should I give Khushi the same medicines as last time, she has tonsil infection'hmm'.ok'will you be swinging by later on'.bring some pain meds then'.no I didn't meet with an accident'stop sounding so disappointed Momo'do you always have to be a smart ass' yes for her Momo'.of course I know'." And he disconnected.
Khushi looked at him in surprise.
'How did he know I need pain meds?' and somehow it made her more angry.
K: "leave me Arnav' I told you I can take care of myself'just go away..."
A: "Stop this nonsense Khushi'you are sick and you are unwell'let me take care of you'."
K: "Stop it dammit '.Arnav'don't touch me'."
She pushed him hard, sprang back and lost her balance and ended up banging her head against the head board. Arnav rushed forward to take her in his arms and massaged her head. He pulled her up to his lap making her fold one of her legs and spread the other beside him.
A: "Are you alright'."
K: "Yes, I'm alright...now get off me'don't touch me'"
A: "What's the deal with all this 'don't touch me' non-sense'I never thought you had a problem with me touching you'.huh..."
K: "yes, I didn't have a problem'now I do... happy' so leave me'"
A: "No I'm not happy'why now? Why do you have a problem'I will touch you when ever and how ever I want 'and you better not have a problem with it.."
K: "Stop it Arnav...' and she dug her nails in his arms in rage
A: "Why 'why should I stop' you didn't seem to have a problem on Saturday when you were on top of me'and now suddenly you do?"
Khushi could see the anger building up in him and it was bad. She was weak and she felt scared at his intensity. His gaze seemed to melt her. It had the same demanding aura as it had that day and she felt herself wanting to submit to him.
He pulled off the bath robe completely to expose her bare back. He broke the straps of the camisole with one tug and ran his fingers down her spine.
A: "I will touch you, when ever and where ever I want to ' and you better not have a problem with it '.. "
Arnav realized he was losing control of his restraint that he had managed to pull of the entire week. He bend down and placed a kiss on her shoulder and felt her stiffen against his chest. His lips moved towards her neck and he could hear her heart beating as loudly as his. She arched back as he made his way to her face and he could see the same expression on her face as he had seen the last time.
'Could it be true'could she really want me'may be she did'. That actually explained her behaviour...I have been such a fool'of course she loves me...'
He had avoided her the entire week, apologized to her for getting close while she might have had the same feelings for him. He had ended up hurting her when all he wanted was to make her happy.
He deepened his kisses on her neck and felt Khushi pull his hair in excitement. It was now or never, he thought.
A: "Khushi'"
Khushi opened her eyes and saw her passion reflected in them and she knew.
Their lips met with force more alike a fight than a loving kiss and the impact bruised their inner lips with the teeth. The sprung apart'looked at each other and giggled like 14 year olds. Arnav pulled Khushi closer, stretched out her legs beside him and slowly traced her lower lip. Lost in each other's eyes, he took her lower lip gently as Khushi melted down in his arms. He took his own sweet time pulling, teasing and sucking every part of her lips till she bit back in sheer desperation. He took in her lips and poured his soul into her.
'Now that's how a first kiss should be''
After what seemed like a lifetime. They felt something moving beside them. It was Momo at the door and Arnav could swear the monster had a tear in her eyes.
He had forgotten to latch the front door. AGAIN!!!
