gr8 part dishu. You have described Abrax and Metz story well. For some reasom Metz seemed fishy to me...may be she was just after the neclace. She never ate any food infornt of Abrax...she wanted to sell the neclace to gain her freedom, didnt wanted to run away as it will harm her sister then why did she tried to kill herself it would also be dangerous 4 her sister na?

Chapter 15

Pia was staring at Abhay with her mouth wide open. She had no idea what to think. Whether to respect Abhay for his devotion towards is duty, or to feel angry on his stupidity of valuing a necklace over a woman's life and honour. Or to suspect Maithili as being after the necklace from the beginning. But some how her simple heart refused to believe that someone could cook up such a tragic story. So she asked Abhay: "What happened after that?"

Abhay replied: I rushed to save her, but got caught in the fire myself. I kept screaming her name but got no response and soon the fumes took over my senses and I fell in the fire. I thought I was going to die then, and in a way I did die, but surprisingly, I found myself opening my eyes sometime later. But it wasn't me anymore. The priest Abrax was dead and I found myself facing Chand and Haseena. I was a vampire like them from that moment. And since then I have been a part of their family.

Pia took a time to grasp how Abhay lost his life and when she had gathered herself up, she asked: What happened to Maithili?

Abhay replied in a sigh: That is the shocking part. There was no one else there in the entire vicinity of the temple. I had seen Maithili entering the store room, locking it and then setting fire to it. I had died in the same fire. Yet, there was no other dead body there?

Pia asked: Do you think, she could have survived or been saved by someone else?

Abhay: I really don't know Pia. I searched in the entire area, made enquiries from all the people around, hiding my new nature of course, but nobody had ever even seen her. I even went to the area where the wealthy merchants known to be a part of slave trade lived, but there too nobody had ever seen or heard of. On my insistence, Chand even approached the king who happened to be his friend, to force the said merchants to confess anything they knew about Maithili. But none of them had ever seen or heard of her.

Pia was confused and so asked: How is that possible?

Abhay: I myself do not know it.

Pia: What happened to that necklace?

Abhay sighed and replied: It was gone.

Pia(shocked): What? What do you mean?

Abhay: When I could not trace Maithili anywhere, my mind went to the necklace. I rushed to my house to save it, but it was nowhere to be found.

Pia(now more shocked than ever): Abhay, do... do you think that Maithili was only after that necklace and that everything she told you was a lie?

Abhay felt a thousand swords piercing his dead heart. Ever since he turned a vampire, he had wondered the same thing, yet he had drown himself in guilt that maybe Maithili too died in that fire and the necklace reached Selene's descendant somehow. But when Pia asked the question, the feeling of the ultimate betrayal and his own incapability of keeping his family promise of guarding the amulet, killed him a million times over. The fact was Abhay had no idea if Maithili was indeed after the necklace only, but her sudden disappearance and the fact that not even one other person had ever seen her made him suspicious. Abhay replied in a sad voice: I really do not know Pia. I wish there was a way I could know for sure, but for last 300 years, I have wondered what is true and what not. I don't even know what was so special about that necklace and what happened to it. Did Maithili steal it or someone else or did it reached Selene's descendant? And if it reached Selen's descendant, then who has it now? Ideally it should have been with you.

Pia: Me??

Abhay: Yes Pia, because if all the stories attached with the amulet were true, then you are the one who can unlock the powers of that necklace. It is useless without you.

Pia: But what all can the necklace do?

Abhay: I do not know Pia. I was only told this much.

Pia: but Abhay, don't you think that it's now time that we should find the truth. If I am indeed the most powerful witch which everyone claims me to be, then shouldn't I be knowing everything about myself and my history lest my powers be misused.

Abhay: You are right Pia. But how can we find about it?

Pia: Didn't mom say that all our history and secrets are hidden here in Greece itself? So we should find it here.

Abhay: But how will we find it here Pia? It could be just anywhere in Greece. We don't even know where to start.

Pia thought for a moment and then said: Maybe we should start from your temple. I have a feeling that that place must be holding the secrets we are after.

Abhay: But we can't go there Pia.

Pia: But why Abhay?

"Because vampires cannot enter temples." Abhay said the last sentence in a grave voice and Pia understood the pain in his voice of losing out the visiting rights to a place which used to be his home once.

While Pia was still thinking of an alternate way to find their secrets, her cell suddenly buzzed and Pia was surprised and apprehensive to see it was Aaliyah calling. Pia did not know how to take the call. She hadn't talked to her sister since she got to know her truth. She was sure that her mom must have already told Aaliyah everything, and Pia was feeling awkward talking to Aaliyah at the moment. She nervously picked up the phone and greeted her sister hesitantly, "Hi Di!"

Aaliyah launched into an exited monologue: Thank God Pia! I finally reached you. I was trying to talk to you ever since mom told me everything, but your phone was out of reach. Of course you were on flight. I am so sorry that you had to learn our truth this way and I feel so bad that I wasn't there with u at that moment but how are you coping up dear? And why did you leave for that stupid trip to Greece. It's really not safe to be by yourself right now. You are just coming to realize your power and being alone at this stage was a really stupid idea. I am shocked that mom could allow you to leave like that. Did you brainwash or hypnotized her by any chance? How else did she let you go alone?..

Pia finally interrupted Aaliyah at this point and replied calmly: I am not alone Di. Abhay is with me.

Aaliyah shouted back: What???? Abhay??? That vampire??? Pia, are you out of your mind, how can you trust a vampire??? They have been our enemies forever. They were created to finish us off. How can you trust him??

Pia replied a little rudely: He could have easily finished me off, anytime he wanted Di. And Isnt your Vincent a vampire too?

Aaliyah(a little taken aback): Who told you that? Did Abhay try to corrupt your mind against me because I dumped his brother John...

Pia interrupted in between: What?? You used to date Abhay's brother?? No wonder Maya hates me so much!!! And no, Abhay did not tell me anything, Mom did. Anyway, that's not the issue. I trust Abhay with all my heart and I am sure you will too Di, once you meet him. He really is a very nice person. And he loves me a lot. I cannot doubt that even for a second. Even when I was doubting my own self and my existence, I still could not doubt Abhay's love for me.

Aaliyah was not used to defiance, especially from Pia who used to worship her. She realized that her baby sister is finally growing up. But she was not ready to let her go and risk her life like this. She tried one last defense: Pia, you really cannot trust vampires. I myself don't trust Vincent much, and that Maya, just beware of her Pia. She is bad news. You should stay away from Abhay.

Pia snapped back: oh why are you so confident about Maya? Or is it that you still harbor feelings for John and so Maya is all bad for you. I did not expect this from you. And even if Maya is not good, I know that Abhay is and he loves me and I love him, so from where do the other characters come up in our love story?

Aaliyah sighed: Pia you are not understanding..

Pia: no Di, its you who does not understand. And I really do not have time to explain things to you. According to mom, all our history and secrets are buried in Greece and we only have one month to find them all. We really need to get going.

Aaliyah: What, how are you going to do that? You won't even know where to start!

Pia: Actually, we do know that Di. We are going to begin our search from the ancient temple where Abhay used to be the priest. And from where our ancestor Selene's locket disappeared mysteriously. I wonder what happened to it, did it get lost or did that Maithili took it.

Aaliyah: no Maithili did not take it.

Pia: how can you say that? Do you know anything about that necklace?

Aaliyah: n.no..no... I mean I too read about that necklace and it was written that apart from the guardian family only Selene's family can touch it, so she could not have taken it. I mean never heard of any Maithili being our ancestor.

Pia: oh.. then we need to start from there Di. We may have some old scriptures or something to help us.

Aaliyah: but Abhay won't be able to enter there. He is a vampire now, and I am not going to let you enter the premises all alone at any cost. It is too dangerous. Someone may follow you and try to harm you.

Pia: I know Di. Abhay is also saying the same thing, but I can handle myself now. I have my own powers.
