"Matlab?"Maan asked tensed.
Anushka sighed as she said,"Geet has been abused from childhood.It is taking a toll on her life.She is having nightmares every night and.."
"Ek minute"Maan cut off in the middle."Koi mujhe bataya nahi iss ki bare mein!kyun?"
The others looked silent.Annie spoke,"It happened when you were in Sydney."
The Khurana Mansion was bubbling with excitement and joy on the late evening of September 14 to celebrate the victory of Vicky in the State Championship.
Geet and Annie were looking to the last minute preparations as they had organised a party to celebrate Vicky's triumph.
Suddenly,
"Dan dan dana dana dan dana dan.. Dan dan dana dana dan dana dan.. Dan dan dana dana dan dana dan.."the sound of the drums made Geet and Annie to come out of the house.
They saw The whole basketball team carrying vicky on their shoulders.Vicky was holding the golden cup in his hand.Unknown to herself,tears formed in Geet's eyes.
She was elated to see Vicky grinning and laughing.Vicky jumped down and ran towards Vicky and Annie hugging them tight.geet ruffled his hair and led the team inside.

Geet asked Ramesh to serve the boys snacks and Orange juice.They were partying so much but Geet had strictly ordered the boys not to drink.
Geet was sitting in her room(Annie's) flipping through the magazine whenthe clock struck 12 and the lights went off.
"Ajeeb hai!"Geet thought as she came out of the room.She went towards the living room yelling the names of Vicky and Annie when her eyes fell on a candle.
There was no one in the room and Geet went forward to blow the candle out when nearly hundred candles were lit up!Geet felt that her eyes would get blind at the light!
She saw Vicky,Annie and friends standing there smiling.She heard Vicky say,"aaj tak mujhe pata nahi tha ki ek maa ka pyar kya hota..par jabse aap humari zindagi mein aayi,tab se mein aap hum dono ki adat ban gaye..Hum aapse bohot pyar karte hai bhabi..Happy Birthday!"
Geet's eyes blurred with tears at the gesture and whispered .,"Thank you!"
She went and hugged everyone for this pleasant surprise when she heard Gurvinder's voice saying,"Geeettt!!"
Her face became pale and her head throbbed.She saw the same hazy images of her father's words..her mother's death..the way Brij killed Gurvinder..Maan's kiss..
"AAHHH!!"Geet screamed as she shut her ears.
"..sirf tumhari wajah se hua Geett..mein tumhe kabhi maaf nahi karunga.."
"You look so so sexy you know.."
"I want you tonight.."
Geet slumped to the floor holding her head.Vicky and Annie rushed to her side as they saw Geet fall unconscious on the floor.
Vicky carried her to Annie's room and laid her on the bed.
"Bhabi.."Vicky panicked as he rubbed her palm and feet and sprinkled water on her face.
After trying for nearly an hour,Annie decided to take Geet to Dr.Anushka,their family doctor.
Maan looked dumb-founded at this revelation.He had not known this!
He hated himself.If only he had taken Geet with him to Sydney,it would have never happened!
He dipped his head down in guilt and shame as the doctor continued," Psychological trauma is a type of damage to the psyche that occurs as a result of a traumatic event. When that trauma leads to posttraumatic stress disorder, damage may involve physical changes inside the brain and to brain chemistry, which changes the person's response to future stress.
"A traumatic event involves a single experience, or an enduring or repeating event or events, that completely overwhelm the individual's ability to cope or integrate the ideas and emotions involved with that experience. The sense of being overwhelmed can be delayed by weeks, years or even decades, as the person struggles to cope with the immediate circumstances. Psychological trauma can lead to serious long-term negative consequences that are often overlooked even by mental health professionals: "If clinicians fail to look through a trauma lens and to conceptualize client problems as related possibly to current or past trauma, they may fail to see that trauma victims, young and old, organize much of their lives around repetitive patterns of reliving and warding off traumatic memories, reminders, and affects."[
"In Geet's case,she has witnessed her mother's death followed by a killing in front of her eyes which has affected her considerably.After the party night she had been brought here,I suggested that Geet used sleeping pills to sleep because she was not able to sleep because of her terrible nightmares of those moments!
"This is the reason why I suggested EMDR. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy which involves talking to the victim in his/her subconscious mind and recording the confession in audio tapes to show it to one's parents or spouse so that you can decide what is wrong and how you can bring the person out of the shock."
Maan listened to every word carefully and realized that It'd be better to hear Geet's confession first and then talk to Anushka about the treatments further.
Dr.Anushka gave Maan the audio tapes and asked Vicky and Annie to leave for home so that she would talk to Maan alone.

Maan played the tapes in the casette player as he listened intently.
"Hi..I am Dr.Anushka,You're Geet.ain't you?"
"Mm.."came the reply.
"So tell me about yourself..Something which you have not shared with anyone!"
"Okay Doctor..I hope you wouldn't tell this to anyone.
"My mother and father met at San Francisco where they fell in love and had gotten married.When Daddy returned to India Darji refused to accept the marriage because my mom was an American.But within three months of their return to India,Mom got pregnant.
"Daddy pleaded with Darji to accept my mom as she was carrying the heir of the family.My darji agreed and my brother,Dhruv was born.Everything had been perfect when my mother got pregnant again.
"Darji acted very well with mom because he was sure that she'd be carrying a son this time too.But I,a girl was born.."Geet paused.
"Then?"Anushka asked.
"Mom and I had been termed as the unfortunate people of the family who brought nothingbut bad luck.Whenever daddy and Dhruv were away,Darji used to taunt us and tease us ,humiliate us infront of the whole family.Mom never told anything to daddy and I did not know the reason why until my 15th birthday.
"I overheard Dad accusing me of a bas***d child and not his.I was broken.Daddy also raised a finger on Mom's character.Mom and I left the house and my daddy yelled,' "..sirf tumhari wajah se hua Geett..mein tumhe kabhi maaf nahi karunga.."
"But why?"the doctor asked.
"mm..My father loved my mother just because she was the only daughter of a rich businessman of San Francisco and the property would be given to mom only when both her kids turned 18.
"After we left the house,my thauji's son,Brij veerji also accompanied us.I knew veerji always had a soft corner for me.That is why he came with us crossing his parent's wish.It was only then we came to know that Mom was suffering from breast cancer and that is the reason Dad accused her.
"We were all equally broken and..and..I saw my mom die in my arms at the age of 17.."Geet burst into sobs.
"shh..It's okay..You conrinue..because telling your pain to someone will reduce it!"Dr.Anushka told Geet.
"After mom's death,veerji became overprotective towards me.We had a huge fight because he did not want to send me to college and I wanted to!I was supported by Anaya bhabi,his wife and Gurvinder,veerji's best friend.
"I did not know then that Gurvinder had other intentions.I liked him as my brother and one day he took me to a godown telling me that veerji had planned a surprise for me.It was 3 months after Ma's death.
"Only after I went there,I had know that he wanted me..He..He came close to me and..and was about to kiss me..I couldn't do anything because ..because..He tied me up...I prayed for someone to come and all I felt was blood splashing on my face.I saw that Brij Veerji was stabbing Gurvinder at various places..
"I yelled for him to stop but he instead asked me to be quiet.he told me that I had left my mobile at home and he came to IIT to give it and instead saw me and Gurvinder taking another route to the college.
"Veerji also told me that if he saw another man coming closer to me he'd kill that person.And after that Veerji was arrested and sentenced for 4 years jail..Bhabi and I were shaken at this.I worked at shops..did overtime while bhabi was struggling hard to make our company stable.I learnt to build a wall around myself..I never let any emotion come near my heart.
"But..But..I did not think that I will run into him one day.."
"Him?"Dr.Anushka asked curiously.
Maan sensed that Geet was smiling while she spoke the following words.
"He was my childhood love.I wanted so badly tell him that I loved him.But I was scared that he would not accept me.After Gurvinder's killing,I decided to quit college but I went there only because of bhabi..I did not know that he would also be in the same college.He was senior to me.
"Mein apni feelings ko batah nahi pathi..kyunki mujhe dar laghtha tha ki veerji usse bhi maar denge..par meine ek baar uski aankhon mein mere liye kuch dekha tha..kuch ajeebsa..hamari college mein"
"Who is that man?"Dr.Anushka asked excitedly.
"His name is'"
Befor Maan could hear what she was saying there was a loud scream from the next room and Maan was quick enough to guess that it was Geet.
Dr.Anushka and Maan ran towards geet's room adjacent to the doctor's cabin but forgot to turn off the tape.
After they had gone out,Geet's voice in the tape whispered,"'Maan Singh Khurana."
