I thought I'd get greedy and read this whole story before commenting, this hoarding my delight and my awe at your skills until the last moment. Well, thats not going to happen,because you are one of those talented people who force the reader to feel emotions, and no matter how many times I decide, I am NOT going to forget this is an a FICTIONAL story about two IMAGINARY people, your incredible writing pulls me back down, and makes me cry my eyes out at my desk at work.

I am not a masochist, and I don't like angst for the sake of angst, which is why I usually avoid the KHUSHI DEAD! ASR SAD! kind of writers. I wont lie, while I obsessively keep the Pandora's Box thread opened on my browser, i ts hard to read this at times, precisely because in your hands, this is a story I will never forget, and I will reread many times over the years.

I am Bangladeshi, so the partition issue was not as resonant for me as it probably is for the Indian/Pakistani audience, but I see you have put so much nore than just a historical perspective within a love story. What you have done here is so important, because you have reminded those of us reading even with an element of sadness and pain, that the the issue of racism, of caste and religious war is not a large abstract evil, but rather something that affects the smallest of lives. Hatred, will kill love, and fear and creating difference will destroy the small pleasures, the everyday lives, the daily interactions with our neighbours, killing friendships and destroying communities.

You have localized the pain, made it real and not a concept, and written with sensitivity, and a deep respect for both sides, and not tried to in any way preach, while gently showing through actions, through small images, the true cost of hatred.

All I can say, in the face of such talent, such depth and sensitivity is this: I have loved you writing, but you have reached a new place with this one, and I am honored to be one of the many fans you have on this site,who are enjoying and appreciating your efforts.
