Maan waited, hating having to watch Dev dragging up the effort to say more..

'Geet... Geet was pregnant...'

'What?' But---

Maan gasped…. Causing his heart and breathing to stop… He stood frozen with shocked horror, his expression came to a dead features…Shock waves passing through his spine… He felt like, the whole earth washing under his feet…. He couldn't bring himself to believe what he has just heard now…. His thoughts become shattered… and he couldn't bring the pieces together to think rationally… Slowly it sinks in him…. making his heart bleed… Maan's mind reeled again… The memories of their night together have clearly remained within him despite six years having elapsed… He closed his eyes, as the warmth and love they found with each other, flooded back to him….

His memory denied any sign of pregnancy and Geet would have certainly told him, atleast she would have given a hint… Yet the certainty in his brother's eyes made Maan froze. If what, Dev told is true'. Then—'.

He did not wanted to think ahead of that.

'How… How do you Know?' Somehow, Maan choked out those words…..

Dev do wanted to, confess Maan, about his deeds from quite a long time, and now its too late to do anything for him. He knew, always his brother has loved and cared him… He trusted him over his love, and what he did to him, is never ever forgivable. Its true, his father made him a pawn, but finally, its he who, destroyed his brothers life, and thus Geet's who has always seen him as a good friend. As the realization of the sin struck him later on, its burden was killing him inch by inch, day and night… But, he couldn't gather the courage to admit it to his brother. He knew, he is living his last few moments….and if he dies, his bro will be kept always in dark…his father will make sure of it.

He cannot do it. His bro deserves happiness. Dev's chest congested seeing the confusion and doubts in his brother's eyes. The man who has lived all his life, only for the honor and happiness of his family, when the same family has snatched all his happiness, and scattered his dreams….. The death could be least punishment for his sins, he would have welcomed it open heartedly.

'Bro, her step brother – Brij came to Dad, with proof'.

'But why Dad? Why not me?'

'Brij was after money. And Dad made sure, he never reaches you'.

'Did he get it?'

'Yes. I don't know, if Geet kept the baby. But, bro… if so, you might have a son or daughter somewhere…. Our blood bro….'Tears filmed the pain and his eyelids closed over them as he heaved for more breath and choked out, 'I leave none'. . Bro, if I have more time, I would have redone all the mistakes I made in my life. But, now, in this point of time, I can only say... Forgive Me!.'

'Don't give up, Dev!' Maan commanded. 'Don't you dare give up! You're my brother, dammit, and I cannot lose you... What ever has happened, was not only your mistake Dev, you was only a pawn in the hands of our father… and I, myself failed, my love was not strong enough to trust her… I am the one who destroyed everything… then what is there for you to feel guilt. You was young… and I… I forgive you Dev…'

A faint smile tilted Dev's mouth. He felt, like a big stone is removed from his chest... 'You remember our childhood Bro…. In all the games, you were always the leader'.

'Yaa… I remember Dev. And those were the best times, in my life. We had a lot of fun,' Maan gruffly agreed.

'I am Sorry Bro' Sorry the fun got lost.'

'We can have more together, Dev,' Maan promised, fighting the finality he felt coming from his younger brother. He reached out and grasped his hand, willing his own strong life-force into the broken body on the bed. 'You'll make it through the operation. I won't let you die Dev… U was, and always will be my little brother… and nothing will change my love for you. You have my word on it…'

The faint smile lingered in Dev's lips, as he slowly closed his eyes… finally feeling at peace.

The hospital orderlies came to take Dev to the operating theatre. Maan had to let go, get out of the way. He found himself hopelessly tongue-tied, wanting to say more, yet floundering in the face of imminent separation possibly final separation. It was Dev who spoke the last words between them.

'Bro…' Find 'Geet.'

A soft touch on his face, jerked Maan from his thoughts. From past few days this is how he spends his time. Lying in the cozy chair, of his balcony, thinking about absolutely nothing, and still his mind is in a turmoil. Whatever Dev has said, has made his world upside down... but, also the loss of Dev, has shook him to the core.

He turned to look at the face, which always brought peace inside him. But, today that is also, not helping.

'Daadimma...'. Maan whispered slowly when he got up to his feet, and much avoiding her eyes.

Savitri Devi, the eldest member of Khurana Empire. Maan and Dev's Daadimma. She is a definition of aristocracy. Power, Elegance, and Confidence oozed from her. Yet, calm and very collected... Cares much for her family, and never turn down, some one,who comes to her for help. After the death of her husband, her whole world was Maan and Dev. But, Maan was always her golden child.

From past few days, she is noticing Maan, his less interaction with the family... For she knew, his calmness is more dangerous than his anger, and she felt, its a beginning of a wild storm, which can uproot her family. Initially, she thought it to be the loss of Dev. She herself has not recovered from it, yet. But, life has to move on. and, she has already lost one grandchild, cannot lose another... She has seen, the pain Maan was going through from past 6 years. and somewhere, she knew, he has still not overcome anything.

Its been almost a month and Maan is still not ready to come out of his chamber. This is very unlike him... This is not her Maan. That is when, she decided to have a talk with him. And, the moment she saw his child, she was sure, it is something more than, the loss of Dev.

'Maan Beta... Yeh Kya halat banadiya aap apne apko?'

Maan did not say anything, but made her sit in the cozy chair and sit down in the floor next to her.

'Maaan Kya bath hai beta? Aap itne pareshan kyon hai? I know, how much you are affected by the loss of Dev. So am I. but, life has to move on… hai na beta? Aur hume aise kyon lagta hai, Dev ko khone se syada apko kuch aur bath pareshan karte hai? Hume nahi batayenge aap?'

Maan lay his head on her lap.

'Galthi hogaya daadimma.. bohat badi galthi'. Maan almost choked his words towards the end. Daadimma was shocked to the core to see, Maan like that. He was always very strong and never showed any emotions. She has seen him the happiest, when he was with Geet, after that night, her Maan, almost forgot to smile. She doesn't know, mistake is with whom, but she always thought, his real happiness lies with Geet. She always, liked her. She was a very sweet girl. She wanted to talk to Maan, but, Maan being Maan, was too adamant, even to take her name. In those days, it was almost like, he was possessed. So dadimma, had no other options, other than praying, Maan will find his true happiness one day.

'Kya hua Maan beta. Tell me…we will find a solution. There is nothing is in this world, which doesn't has a solution.'Dadimma slowly patted his head.

'Gee— Geet… Geet Dadimma. I…' Maan could not collect himself to say anything more. Just shut his eyes tightly, as the words spoken by him, sink slowly to her mind.

So, its about Geet. 'Oh God, why are you testing my kid like this. He has been through a lot before. Daya karo bagwan!.'

'Maaan' She patted him slowly. She cannot see him like this.She has to do something. Before, she close her eyes, she want to see his old Maan back, and for that, she will stand by him, what may come.

Maan slowly raised his head, as he composed himself. It was just a moments outbreak. When he saw Dadimma, his emotions outfled, which he was trying to keep within himself. But, he cannot burden her, with his feelings. She is weak and old.

'Maan beta… hume batayiye. I am not that aged that, I cannot find a solution. And against it, my age and experience might help you, to over come what ever, problem you are in. Afterall, if I could upbring you both, then I can make my childrens life better as well. I am a Mrs. Savitri Khurana, Don't forget it.'. Dadimma said, as if reading his mind.

Maan was amazed, his Dadimma never stops, surprising him. Still he was not sure, whether he should confide, what ever Dev told him. Will she be able to take it. Her own family's deception. But, she is the only one in this entire world, with whom he can share anything. After Dev's death, he even detest the sight of his, very parents.

As Maan unfolded the events of past, and how his own parents, and brother disowned him, how his father played a dirty game to outcast Geet from his life, and how he believed his family against his love, how much he hurt her…. and finally, the relevation of her pregnancy and following events….Dadimmas eyes widened, as she was shocked… appalled…. Saddened… furious and anger on her so called, royal family's filthy scheming, against an innocent girl, who only did a mistake of loving her grand son. Now, this is the end limit to test her patience. She will teach his son, a good lesson. But, before that, she should take care of Maan. Her eyes moistened, when she remembered the good times, they three have spend together... Geet was always capable, to bring a a smile, on Maan's face...

Dadimma hugged Maan, not knowing, how to console him… how to bring him out of this anguish… and How to punish his son, a good lesson, which she should have taught him little early.

'Maan beta… its never late to repent… and once you realize, the mistake, don't you think, you should act according, to correct it at the earliest. I was wondering, what took you about this much time, not in action. Every minutes you lose, you are failing her more dear… Find her… bring her back to your life Maan'.

Hearing his Dadimma, say those words, which he wanted to hear the most, at the moment, Maan felt as if he was swept away by the tide of emotions... How well, she could understand him...

Perhaps, if only, it was that easy… Maan looked at his dadimma, as if she has told him his own thoughts. He himself, knew, that is what he should do. But how? How will he, ever face her again? How can he ask Geet to forgive his outlaw act, when he can't forgive himself? What he did six years back, were haunting him like ghosts of past, ever since, Dev revealed him the truth. He is paralysed, even to take her name, out of his mouth, to know her whereabouts. He felt, he no more deserve, that right, to say her name…. and it made him realize, each and every passing moment, how big sin he did to the girl, who has given herself to him, only because, she trusted him… over the world…. And he shattered that trust… he lose her forever..

'Where is she now? How is she doing? Is she alright? How all this years, he could shut her from his life, mercilessly like this? Yes, its true, he has lived his days avenging her thoughts, which drove him to be what he is today, the man who was feared by all…. And the nights, were always in her name… where he unleashed her thoughts, and lived in the pain, of loving her… Did she have their baby? He will not even blame her if she decided otherwise… Is he really in a position to ask her?

That's when, another, thought popped up in his mind, almost frozing his breath in his throat. 'What… what if she has moved on?' Maan closed his eyes, not able to think, her with someone else. It has never happened to him, she will be someone else's.

'NOO!! No! that's not possible!!'.

Dadimma was almost, startled, by Maan's thundering voice. It was evident, he was in deep thought, and she thought of not to disturb him, for she knew, Maan was always capable of coming around with his problems.

"What is not possible Maan beta?' That is when, he realized, he thought loudly.

'Uhhh… mmm Nothing! Nothing dadimma'.

'Maan, let me tell you something beta, Life will not be always fair…, If everything happens in the way we want, then what will happen to the world? Mistakes happen… Its only human. But, one will only be a true human, when one understands his mistakes, accept it, and ready to repent it.

And beta, we can only give pain to someone, when we love someone deeply… and it was a testing time for both of your love… Face it! True love always comes, with forgiveness. I am sure, Geet can forgive you, for what you did to her.. and, forgiveness is not always about, absolution of one's deeds, its also a way of self-healing. If you believe, Once, Geet loved you truly, then, I am sure, that love will never ever go away… Many things may change, but still love will remain… and also the pain you gave her. So, its your duty, to heal her.. Her wounded heart can only be healed, if she can forgive and thus forget her past, you should help her for that...

Ask for her forgiveness, and heal her heart beta. Love will only grow, by seeking forgiveness… But, don't, expect an immediate result, six years, you kept her away from you… and I can only, wish it will not take that much time, for her to forgive you… Find her… I am sure Maan, you can do it in a flick.

Maan stared at Dadimma, he was still not sure, what he is going to do. But, after hearing Dadimma, a new hope arised in him… Like, his life breath has come back…. 'He can! But will she trust him again… Will she ever let him in his life again?'

Seeing, Maan again brooding over and over, Savitri Devi, shook her head. 'Hai Ram, kya karoo mein is ladke ka'. She thought herself, and continued in a stern voice now—

'Maaan A step a day beta. I told you na, don't expect, too much in beginning. First, you have to seek forgiveness from her… then, Give her time… and see, one day, even before you know, she would have forgiven you... , You will get your happiness back…. Now, go.. set on fire….. Yeh pata kar, where is she now?. And, then we will teach your father, and my son a very good lesson.'

Maan nodded, when he raised from the floor, looking determined. Savitri devi patted his cheeks and turned to leave, only to be stopped by Maan's voice.

'Thankyou so much Daadima'.

She just half turned and said with a smile,

'I will be waiting for my bahu… '

Huuuhhh I am tired... This emotional fundas, are really taking a toll on me.. No wonder, Drashti was telling, after day long shoot and more like crying, she just want to freak out. By writing, if its like a roller-coaster ride, just imagine acting.. Hatsoff...DD and GC...
