Chapter 23
When I started reading this chapter, I was looking ahead to what happened especially because of the title. But when I discovered it was Riddhima's version of things, I was kinda glad. To know what is going on in Riddhima's mind and how she feel somehow is relieving as a reader. Atleast we are not subjected to the anxiety that Armaan must be feeling.
Riddhima has been scarred for life - mentally and physically. But those mental scars will remain forever and they have been almost fatal for her. It is strange how she considers words to almost be her best friends especially when I've never really read of kind words spoken to her.Ironical!
That smile. Uh! I love the smiles in this story. They are so rare and they mean so much. Armaan smiled. She smiled. So yeah I was reading the Kite Runner again last night when something towards the end stuck with me when I was reading Savage today. It was something like this - smile doesn't mean everything is alright. It may not even mean that something is right. 'It is a tiny thing. A leaf in the wood's, shaking in the wake of a startled bird's flight.'
So the smile and the trust - I'll take both and whatever as it all comes. I loved the chapter just because of being it.
I understand Malik is never going to leave their way. The man is in great denial. Needs to consult a psychiatrist. Well, I've said that many a times and I'll continue saying this until he dies😆
Riddhima needs some self-confidence, Pri. Her pessimism, sometimes even gets to me.😆 And then I've to remind myself that she is different and has gotten what can be worst.😊
Love,
Dee.
P.S - I am so relieved to post this comment finally just because this is the third time I am writing it. Every time I wrote it, either the electricity went off or the server went down. Finally!
P.P.S (or was it P.S.S 😆) - Two more to go!
